We've seen a steady flow of Windows 8 news this past month, and it's not ready to stop yet. Earlier this week an old build of Windows 8 was leaked online, and many flocked to download the bits. Today, a site uncovered a feature that appears to replace the operating system's default shutdown behavior so that the boot up process can be speed up.

Microsoft confirmed this week that the next major version of its browser will not work with Windows Vista, but at least one analyst wonders if that's a problem.
Even though Microsoft just shipped IE9 a month ago, it continues to try to pick up the pace of browser development in order to try to regain some of the market initiative that it has lost in recent years -- largely by not moving fast enough to keep IE current with competitors offerings.

Automattic, the company that owns the WordPress.com blogging platform that powers more than 18 million blogs, announced this morning that its servers had been broken into and source code, among other things, could have been exposed.
WordPress founder Matt Mullenweg writes "Tough note to communicate today: Automattic had a low-level (root) break-in to several of our servers, and potentially anything on those servers could have been revealed."

Microsoft's April Patch Tuesday security update has delivered patches that fix 64 individual security holes. The 64 holes are spread across 17 security bulletins, nine of which, were labelled by Microsoft as critical.
One patch, in fact, fixes a surprising 30 security bugs and, while they are all rated "important," which is not as severe as Microsoft's top critical rating, that still makes up almost half of all the fixes for April.

An early Windows 8 build has finally leaked and will soon be accessible to the general public. While we've seen leaked screenshots that clearly indicate some users have been using for a while -- after all partners have access to Windows 8 builds on Microsoft Connect -- it appears that this is the first leak that anyone will be able to download.
