The Pirate Bay has dropped anchor again, this time in Iceland where it seeks safe harbour under the country specific .IS top level domain.

The Pirate Bay has hopped around a number of country specific domains since the start of the year, and it even suggested that it had found snug berth in North Korea.

This year we have followed its moves from Sweden, to Norway, to Spain and to Greenland. It has looked relatively comfortable in all of those locations, until local hosting firms changed their minds under pressure from copyright cartels and sent the website packing.

Samsung is rebranding all of its Windows PCs as Ativ.

Ativ is Vita backward -- that's Samsung's reasoning -- and previously only applied to the Ativ Smart PC and Smart PC Pro, both Windows 8 tablets. (There was also the Ativ Tab, a Windows RT slate that never saw the light of day. And an Ativ S Windows Phone came out with little fanfare.)

Not too long ago, some of Google Glass's specs got out there, but we were missing two critical pieces: CPU and RAM. Now, thanks to some endeavoring hackers who've gotten their hands on a pair, we now know some of those details.

Jay Lee, with some help from Liam McLoughlin, managed to find Glass's USB debugging setting and hook it up to ADB which in turn spilled the additional specs:

Microsoft has all but confirmed long-standing rumors that it is working on a 7- or 8-inch Windows-powered tablet.

Outgoing Microsoft CFO Peter Klein said during the company's third-quarter earnings conference call Thursday afternoon that Microsoft was working with partners to produce "a new suite of small touch devices powered by Windows" that would be available "in the coming months." Klein did not indicate that Microsoft itself would be making its own smaller Windows 8 devices, but considering the company's recent foray into the tablet market with its Surface lineup, it's not out of the question.

A botched software update by Malwarebytes disabled thousands of systems around the globe this week, according to a blog post penned by CEO Marcin Kleczynski. Around 3PM PST on Monday, April 15, the security vendor released a definitions patch that wrongly identified legit system files as being malware.

By preventing essential Windows.dll and .exe files from running, the update crippled affected machines and caused quite a headache for many IT professionals. Speaking with V3, an unnamed organization said the update took down 80% of its servers, and that was just one of many stories the publication said it received.
