Thanks to dareckibmw for keeping these updated!

UPDATED ... (10/17/09)

Vista Boot screen SP3 build 5857 (blue progress bar) updated with KB-971486

I've tested it few times with user_hidden's XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack for Windows XP Post-SP3 (1.11 20091014) - works like a charm!

I have SP3 5512 and I installed with RVM and it didn't take. I still have the basic bootscreen. What am I doing wrong? I've replaced bootscreens before in beta SP3.

I checked ntkrnlpa.exe & ntoskrnl.exe in system 32 and they are the same file sizes or the mod vista ones.

Whats going on.

are you guys using RVM? if so try adding _Addon to the file name before you integrate it.
i havent had any probs with nlite integration....

and make sure you have the newest SFC patch.

I forgot to mention that I used nLite, and it did not work. Then I found Ricks addon for SP2 RTM, adapted it for SP3 and it works like a charm.

Cheers ;)

I use ResHacker to change 6 files in 'Windows\system32' to Vista style, these filenames are like:

ntkrnlpa.exe
ntoskrnl.exe
...

But it doesn't work. Why? I wonder how did you do this?

SFC is already disabled.

This is my first post, nice to see you all!

this replaces all 4 kernels before windows is installed. but you should be able to replace your modded files in safe mode. but i also hear that dosent work out so well for some people....

Oh, surprised to see your reply. Isn't it sleep time for Americans?

Because SFC is turned off, I can modify these files in normal model. These files are not protected by Windows.

It is a pity that I cannot use your archieve because of the difference of two lauguage. Windows refuse to boot if I use yours... :(

download Neo's res file here, and use it to update your kernels with reshacker
