KB2909210 an irritating update - Shows in Microsoft Update

Hi,
I have been trying WinToolkit for a few days to integrate the current release of updates and have managed to get all the updates to integrate without issues, all seem OK on Microsoft Update {MU} except 2.

  • KB2904266 (which supposably is replaced by KB2922717) but if I omit it, it is required, not a toolkit issue
  • KB2909210 Shows as required no matter what

I have tried running the update in windows again but am told that "it is already installed". If I uninstall it and re run it I am told "it's not for my system". When I install via MU and monitor the changes there doesn't seem to be any major changes. 3 cat files are overwritten and a few registry entries are add, these don't seem to be a poblem as I have captured to reg files and imported before the update.

I have tried adding to the RunOnce section but the result is the same.

I have yet to try excluding the KB from integration and run it after setup finishes and the desktop loads but was wondering if anybody had this issue. I know from some of my own programs that sometimes MU isn't always correct and it's not big issue but being a bit anal about things, you just have to keep trying to get it perfect :ranting:

Cheers

Apologies for the double post. I missed the banner that flashed up about mods checking the post before submitting :sad01_anim: . I thought there had been an error so posted a similar question. I've editied it out as its along the same lines

No issues here with those two KB (integrated). You can try an older version oft WTK (I use 1.4.33.7 myself).

Hi mooms.

I have tried them all recently and as you say v1.4.33.7 is the most consistant one. Some have RunOnce issues or alter install order as have been mentioned in a thread here. v1.4.33.7 still gave me the KB 2909210 until I integrated the latest updates from Aprils release  . Only 4 optional updates show now. Yay, well at least until MS release more dubious patches :)

Now on to the software testing phase. I need to create my own RunOnce installer first though so I have more control.

Thanks.
