Great work! Thanks!

For the "Ported Vista Windows Snipping Tool for Xp (MD5: 7C78DFBF2241EDE101AE2AF044F80C88)" i've translated the tool into german language.

Available here: Deutsche Version des Snipping Tool für XP

(Sorry, but registration is required for download the file.)

Regards, BuckFix

:D Thx alot mate, i also hope more xp users included german people can download and enjoy it on Xp. Again, thx alot for your real contribution!

I made it with an AutoIt script.
Just edit the attached file insertin' your Vista Ultimate serial without spaces (replace the Xs) then you must compile it with autoit and put it in a folder together alky_1.1_trunk_032308-000051_xp.msi, sources folder, holdem folder (files yet patched and xinput...).
The you can run the script or creating a SFX.

^_^ Wow, great work, thx alot mate. I just suggest you should also create a new thread with this especially on add on sub forum. So more people can know it early and use it. Will be a great news for add on makers/users on Wincert and even around the world! Again, thx alot! :D

I know how to make this on nlite addon (Making it switchles installer) BUT i dont know how to add it on startmenu entries lol
Example:
like Vista snipping tool
The path is %WinDir%\System32\SnippingTool.exe
and the manifest file is %WinDir%\System32\SnippingTool.exe.manifest
the startmenu entries is D:\Documents and Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\Snippingtool.exe
im using NSIS to make installer and SFXmaker to make switchless instaler or silent installer

I suggest you can also manually create the shortcut file of SnippingTool.exe (Snipping Tool.lnk) with path (in environment variable): i.e. %WinDir%\System32\SnippingTool.exe before placing it on start menu. Anyway Good luck :)

Hello Carlos :)

Make sure you have installed all prerequisites above (for Xp Sp2/Sp3 : .Net Framework 1.1 or higher, IE7 or IE8 (optional but recommended), Windows Journal Viewer 1.5):

Also make sure you already have Vista Ultimate Serial (it doesnt have to be genuine/unused, but only "valid", just search it in internet if you dont have) :D

Then follow these steps (as i have written them in the thread before):

1) Download these files from the link:
pidgenx.dll
pkeyconfig.xrm-ms _linenums:0'><strong class='bbc'>pidgenx.dllpkeyconfig.xrm-ms</strong>
Download them (thx alot to Ricktendo for uploading): 394 kb
http://www.mediafire.com/?549xdtjmm9j

, then extract/create "sources" folder that contains two downloaded files above to any drive/partition you want (e.g.: "D:\"). If you copy them to "D:\" , so the full path becomes "D:\sources", according to Ricktendo's guide). Of course you can also copy them to "C:\", or "F:\" later, just for example guys.

2) Run Alky Installer (you have to remove previous Alky before re-installing if it exists), then check "Bind to product key". Select the drive/partition that you placed the folder (e.g.: D:\ like above) Enter your Vista "Valid" Serial (Bind to Product Key) and , start installing.

3) Reboot if necessary (Optional but Very Recommended, to make sure it have re-registered new drivers/binaries), done!

After that, copy SnippingTool.exe and SnippingTool.exe.manifest to C:\Windows\System32 (or %WinDir%\System32) then double click SnippingTool.exe as usual (or just right click-> Patch and run Vista Executable, also the SnippingTool.exe.manifest file should always be in same folder/directory i.e. System32). Hopefully that works as well. Sorry for my Bad English. Good luck mate :)

PS: If you also need the Nlite add ons, it seems our friends Kontini and/or Ricktenso have also made the NLite add on for Snipping Tool etc. If you also want them, Just explore in add on forum or directly ask them. Good luck mate :D

Oh i'll also PM you mate. Cheers! :P

Hi, I'm new here, sorry for bumping an old topic. :sweatingbullets:

I have Windows XP SP3 32 bit and I'm trying to install Snipping Tool

This is what I did:

- install MS Net Framework 3.5 (already installed in my system long before)

- install Alky for Applications 1.1 for Windows XP, with Vista Ultimate key - succeeded - Reboot.
(I'm using Windows sidebar ported from vista to XP, so I already installed Alky before but without the key, I uninstalled Alky and reinstalled with the key like instruction)

- install Windows Journal Viewer 1.5.

Then I extracted the SnippingTool.exe and SnippingTool.exe.manifest to C:\Windows\system32

But when I click on snippingtool.exe, nothing happens, it doesn't give me any error message, it just won't run.

Am I doing something wrong? I read the instruction and tried follow carefully :(

Hope someone could help, thanks in advanced :)

Hey Bismuth, welcome 2 Wincert mate :thumbsup_anim: . Have you just used the uploaded sources file or your own Vista partition/media either for pidgenx.dll etc source? Please also make sure/please check data.bin file that is in %ProgramFiles%\Alky for Applications\Libraries (C:\Program Files\Alky for Applications\Libraries) directory. If it doesn't exist, try to uninstall and reinstall Alky using the same or another valid Vista serial. ~~ Edited here ~~ (while Ultimate is more recommended) or you can grab other pidgenx.dll and pkeyconfig.xrm-ms files from your own Vista and copy them to the sources folder before using your own serial. Also it was just .Net Framework 1.1 runtime but yeah i think it's still fine if you're using .Net framework 3.5 instead since it has also included 1.0-3.0 as well as 3.0 as said. Anyway good luck, please don't hesitate to post here if you still get the problem. Cheerz!
