Following user outcry over the company’s plan to ax access to Windows Live Hotmail from inside Outlook Express e-mail accounts, Microsoft has postponed its planned June 30 cut-off date.

As LiveSide.Net notes, Microsoft hasn’t provided a new date by which it plans to disable the Outlook Express Distributed Authoring and Versioning (DAV) protocol that allows the Hotmail inbox access from Outlook Express.

The Windows Live Hotmail Support Team posted the following update on May 5:

“From the feedback we received, it became clear that you needed additional time to evaluate alternative solutions and with this in mind, we are postponing the transition deadline previously announced. This means that you will continue to be able to access your Windows Live Hotmail accounts from Outlook Express beyond the June 30 transition deadline.”

Microsoft has been pushing users to move to the Windows Live Mail e-mail client in order to manage multiple e-mail inboxes.
