PDF thumbnails not showingin Windows Explorer XP

If you have issues about PDF thumbnails not showing in Windows Explorer XP, here's what to do.

This usually is related to Acrobat Update.

Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete checkbox is grayed out

Some users asked me how to remove the requirement for users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete on the logon screen if this setting is greyed out.

When you try to clear the 'Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete' checkbox in the Advanced tab of User Accounts window, you're unable to because this setting is greyed out as seen in the picture below.

Windows XP computers do not appear on the network map

If you are using mixed network environment with Windows 7 or Windows Vista and Windows XP machines, you can have issues by Windows XP not appearing on the network map in Windows 7.

XP automatically logoff upon logon

When you try to login to your Windows XP system, you may be automatically logged off. You can't also login using the safe mode. This is an obvious problem with your userinit.exe file which is responsible for user login process.

How To Disable baloon tips on Windows

The following tip will help you to disable balloon tips in the notification area. To achieve this follow these steps:

Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then press ENTER.

Locate the following subkey:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

Right-click the right side pane, create a new DWORD value, and then name it EnableBalloonTips.

Double-click EnableBalloonTips, and then give it a value of 0.

Close Registry Editor.

Log off Windows, and then log back on.
