PDF thumbnails not showing in Windows Explorer XP

If you have issues about PDF thumbnails not showing in Windows Explorer XP, here's what to do.

This usually is related to Acrobat Update.

You can try to reinstall the application, but after the update, the problem might occur again.

To solve this please do the following:

Click on START | RUN | CMD Enter

type:

regsvr32 shmedia.dll
regsvr32 shimgvw.dll

You can also open notepad and paste the following code into it:

[div class="doc" class2="typo-icon"]

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroExch.Document.7\Shellex\{BB2E617C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}]
@="{F9DB5320-233E-11D1-9F84-707F02C10627}"

[/div]

Save it with .reg extension and double click on it

If you still have issues, please leave a comment.

Above is wrong. Should be:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[div class="doc" class2="typo-icon"]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroExch.Document.7\Shellex\{BB2E617C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}]
@="{F9DB5320-233E-11D1-9F84-707F02C10627}"

[/div]

Then it runs as a .reg file. Per MS, the first line in a .reg file is "Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00" followed by a space for the next line. Hope this helps. Ran for me. But thumbnails still did not show up. Uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Reader.
