Windows 10 users who have upgraded their system to the latest May 2020 Update should have already noticed that the Microsoft Edge browser is running more efficiently now.

In its official statement, Microsoft claims that the Edge browser now provides much better browsing experience with up to 27% reduced memory usage. This was achieved through segment heap improvements for Win32 applications. It’s worth saying that Microsoft Edge’s memory usage will surely vary across different PCs, but the company expects better user experience with the latest May 2020 update.

This change will be especially beneficial for systems with smaller amounts of RAM installed as that’s one of the crucial components for a better PC experience. Microsoft obviously wants more Chrome users to try the new Edge and possibly switch to the Edge browser, especially that the Chrome browser is known for being a memory hog.

Microsoft has recently started rolling out its new Edge browser via Windows Update to all Windows 10 and Windows 8/8.1 systems, including unsupported Windows 7. Once the new Edge browser is installed on the system it will completely replace the old Edge.

The upcoming Windows 10 20H2 update that is planned to be released later this year, will be the first Windows 10 version released with the new Microsoft Edge browser.
