Microsoft Edge’s popularity is rising slowly but steadily among users. Having risen to 9.56% from an 8.1% market share in the past year, Microsoft’s chromium-based browser is about to take over the 2nd position from Safari.

Apple’s Safari browser popularity has fallen from 10.27% to 9.75% in the past 12 months based on the StatCounter Global Stats data.

Even if Edge browser takes over 2nd place from Safari, the 1st place is still very much out of reach as Google’s Chrome browser holds 64.92% of the market share. But the fact also is that Chrome’s popularity has also slightly fallen in the past year from 66.47% to 64.92% of the market share.

Microsoft is trying hard to get more popularity for its browser by regularly releasing updates and new features which in the end usually result in a better overall user experience that attracts more users.
