Microsoft released new security updates for Windows 11 today which include some additional security enhancements for the latest operating system.

This announcement supplements the recent major Windows 11 update, which Microsoft showcased during the Surface event last week. The latest update comes packed with over 150 improvements and will gradually roll out in the coming months.

As mentioned in the event, Microsoft is introducing a new password-less technology called Passkeys. It should provide a more secure method to log in to supported websites and applications using either Windows Hello or Windows Hello for Business.

Talking about Windows Hello for Business, the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) solution now incorporates robust, “phish-resistant” credentials, that include facial recognition, fingerprint, and PIN, to keep your digital identity ultra-safe.

Another new addition that’s worth mentioning is Config Refresh, which could have a significant impact on IT security. This feature helps protect IT policies by periodically reverting them to a known, secure state, preventing unauthorized changes.

Furthermore, the Windows Firewall application is receiving some new configuration options. These options include Application Control for Business and configuring network list manager settings that should help you determine when an Entra ID device is on-premises domain subnets, thus allowing setting up more detailed Firewall logging.
