Samsung reveals 30TB SAS SSD drive

<h5>Samsung once again sets a record on SSD storage disk size with their new 30TB SAS SSD drive&period;<&sol;h5>&NewLine;<div id&equals;"attachment&lowbar;2459" style&equals;"width&colon; 930px" class&equals;"wp-caption alignnone"><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;wincert&period;net&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2018&sol;02&sol;samsung-ssd-30tb&period;jpg"><img aria-describedby&equals;"caption-attachment-2459" class&equals;"wp-image-2459 size-full" title&equals;"30TB SAS SSD" src&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;wincert&period;net&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2018&sol;02&sol;samsung-ssd-30tb&period;jpg" alt&equals;"30TB SAS SSD" width&equals;"920" height&equals;"613" &sol;><&sol;a><p id&equals;"caption-attachment-2459" class&equals;"wp-caption-text">Image source&colon; Samsung<&sol;p><&sol;div>&NewLine;<p>Almost 2 years after Samsung released a 15&period;36TB SSD drive which was back then the highest capacity SSD on the market&comma; Samsung is moving boundaries again with their new 30TB SAS SSD drives&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Inside its 2&period;5-inch housing&comma; the PM1643 drive has 30&period;72TB of disk space with a sequential read of 2&comma;100MB&sol;s and write speed of 1&comma;700 MB&sol;s&period; The PM1643 is powered with 32 sticks of 1TB NAND flash packages which contain 16 layers of  512GB 3D vertical NAND chips&period; This update resulted in doubled capacity but retained speed of its predecessor&period; The company claims up to 400&comma;000 IOPS in random read tests and 50&comma;000 IOPS in random write tests&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>According to Samsung&comma; the new drive has 4x better performance than a typical SSD SATA drive&period; Considering that this drive is focused on enterprise usage it offers an MTBF &lpar;mean time between failures&rpar; of two million hours&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>It is still unknown when PM1643 will go on sale&comma; but initial quantities of 30&period;72TB drives were already set to manufacturing in January 2018&period; The offer will be expanded in the near future with smaller capacities of 15&period;36TB&comma; 7&period;68TB&comma; 3&period;84TB&comma; 1&period;92TB&comma; 960GB&comma; and 800GB sizes&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
