Windows 10 1909 or November 2019 release came with updated File Explorer’s search tool which allows you to preview documents stored on the OneDrive could service. Previously users could only preview documents that were stored on the local file system.

Unfortunately, the new search tool has brought some issues along as many users started reporting problems. One of the reported issues says that the new search tool freezes File Explorer for a longer period of time which could be caused by a timeout when a client is contacting OneDrive service.

Other File Explorer glitch appears when users right-click on a file or folder to bring up the file/folder context under which Explorer stops working. Several users also reported that the right-click menu in the search bar stops working which prevents users to paste the clipboard contents in the search bar.

So far, no fix has been released to the public yet, but if you run into mentioned issues you can help yourself by restarting the Windows Explorer process from the Task Manager.
