Hello All, I just went from XP to Windows 7 RTM (X86). I never used Vista. So now I am trying to find out the basics of Unattended Windows 7. I found out that AIK can help me with the answerfile, I just need to go through all the lines, and edit where needed. But I have some questions also, like: - The $OEM$ folder, can I still use this in Windows 7? - The CMDlines.txt, does this work on Windows 7? - Is there some sort or RunOnceEx? Or something else to call executables? One other question, in XP I had to extract all file from the image and then edit them and rebuild iso. I assume Windows 7 works in that way also? But since I had to extract install.wim only to make the a…

I have the windows 7 rc1 64bit. Every time my comp sleeps or is shutdown, upon restarting, it freezes after a few minutes and i get a blue error screen. I've fixed the sleep problem by reconfiguring my power saving options. But my pc still freezes upon powering back on after a legit shutdown. Once I've rebooted after the error screen, my pc is fine and will never freeze until shutdown again. Any solutions out there? Austin

Windows 7's virtual 'XP mode' could mean support nightmares Microsoft released a new feature called Windows XP Mode for users of its business versions of Windows 7 that will include a fully licensed copy of Windows XP SP3 running in a virtual machine. Microsoft Corp.'s decision to give some Windows 7 users a tool to run Windows XP applications in a virtual machine may have been necessary to convince people to upgrade, but it could create support nightmares, analysts said today. Last week, Microsoft announced that it would offer an add-on called Windows XP Mode (XPM) to users of Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate and Enterprise when the new operating system ships. Profession…

I am debating to stay with my current partition rite now, or wait till W7 is released. Rite now I am running Vista, but I am having application error problems, so I cannot play lots of my games (mostly Steam based). So, I am debating wether or not to repartition, or wait. Any suggestions? Should I go with the Beta as of now?
