With the new Chrome versions—146.0.7680.153/154 for Windows and macOS and 146.0.7680.153 for Linux—the developers have fixed 26 security vulnerabilities. According to Google, none of these vulnerabilities have been exploited in the wild yet. The next release for Chrome 147 is scheduled for early April.

In the Chrome Releases blog post, Srinivas Sista lists the 26 security vulnerabilities that have been fixed. They were predominantly discovered by external security researchers and reported to Google. Unlike last year, internally discovered security vulnerabilities are now also being documented in these blog posts. However, this one was published a day after the updates were released.

Three of the vulnerabilities are classified as critical, with the rest (except for one) classified as high risk. Two out-of-bounds memory accesses in the WebGL component (CVE-2026-4439 and CVE-2026-4440) and a use-after-free vulnerability in Base (CVE-2026-4441) are considered critical. Among the high risk vulnerabilities, a few buffer overflows and use-after-free issues were fixed. There was also a type confusion in the V8 JavaScript engine (CVE-2026-4457).

At the end of last week, Google released emergency updates to patch two zero-day vulnerabilities, causing quite a bit of chaos in the process.

As a rule, Chrome updates automatically when new versions are available. You can manually trigger the update check via the menu item Help > About Google Chrome.

Google has also released Chrome for Android 146.0.76380.153 and Chrome for iOS 146.0.7680.151. The Android version addresses the same vulnerabilities as the desktop versions. The Extended Stable Channel for Windows and macOS now includes Chromium version 146.0.7680.154.

Microsoft Edge 146 is now available for all users in the Stable channel. The latest four-week feature update brings important changes to passwords, fixes for tab bugs on Windows PCs, security fixes, enterprise updates, and more.

Starting with version 146, Microsoft deprecated the custom primary password feature. Previously, it allowed users to protect their personal data with a custom password, but now, Microsoft wants you to use system-wide authentication, as it is more secure and convenient. However, if you already use your custom password, Microsoft lets you continue using it until June 4.

Microsoft is also changing how the browser handles data removal. It no longer lists passwords in data types so that users cannot accidentally delete their passwords.

Speaking of privacy-related changes, Edge 146 now has a single setting for tracking prevention. The update removed the ability to set strict tracking prevention only for InPrivate. Now, Edge uses a single setting for both browsing modes.

Edge 146 also has redesigned site permissions. Microsoft says that the page has been redesigned to “better align with user expectations.” Improvements include changes to the Omnibox and Page Info dialog, and permissions are easier to review and modify in Settings.

What is Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime?
Microsoft Edge WebView2 is a runtime installation used to provide web-based features in Microsoft 365 desktop apps that Microsoft began installing on Windows devices earlier this year. WebView2 uses Microsoft Edge as the rendering engine.

In Windows 11, the component is installed on the system by default. On earlier versions of Windows, it is automatically installed for users with modern versions of Microsoft Office for the specific purpose of running Office applications and the components built into the applications, built on top of web frameworks.

For PC users looking to take advantage of new or improved Office features or add-ins that depend on WebView2, they do not require any user input/action; as soon as WebView2 is available on the device, the component will be installed automatically. Regarding updates, WebView2 Runtime uses its own automatic update process, separate from the update channel used by Microsoft 365 Apps, to keep WebView2 up to date with the latest security and reliability updates.

Firefox 149.0, the March release of this free open-source web browser, is available to download.

The new version introduced some exciting new features, improvements for Linux, and many changes for web developers.

Like Chrome/Chromium, Firefox now supports split view that displays two web pages side-by-side in single window, making easy to compare information or work across two pages at once.

To create a split view, either use Ctrl + Click to select two tabs, then right-click and choose “Open in Split View“, or, right-click on a tab and select “Add Split View“, which will resize the selected tab to left half, and list all other tabs in right allowing to choose one to display side-by-side.

Same to common tabs, you may switch between the split view tabs and change the URL in address bar to go to other websites. To exit split view, either right-click on tab and select “Separate Split View” or simply close one of the tabs.

Firefox 149 also introduced new experimental tab notes feature. With it, you can add a short note to a web-page to help remember why you opened tab page, what you planned to do next or any other information about the page.

The feature is available in Settings -> Firefox Labs. After enabled it, simply right-click on a tab and select “Add Note” menu option. It will pop-up a small dialog allowing to input something.

After that, it will display a small note icon in the tab, and move mouse cursor over that icon will show you the note via tool-tip.

All added notes will be there even after you closed the sites and re-open them, until you delete them via “Update Note -> Delete Note” context menu option or switch to another profile.

For Linux user, the new 149.0 version finally default to the XDG portal file picker if available, instead of using the GTK3 one. So that, it will be well integrated by trying to use your desktop native file chooser dialog.

For Windows and macOS, user can now add a share button to the toolbar via “Customize toolbar” page, making easy to share a page using system sharing options.

Firefox 149 now provides a free built-in VPN for users who logged in via Mozilla account. With it, you can hide your location and IP address by routing it through a secure proxy when browsing the web.

It provides 50 GB of protection every month, and allows to turn the VPN on or off for specific websites. However, this is a progressive rollout feature at the moment only available in the US, UK, Germany and France.

This version also features some security improvements. It now automatically blocks notifications and permanently revokes permissions for any website flagged as malicious by SafeBrowsing.

It as well introduced a new new TrustPanel, that can be accessed through the shield icon in the address bar. It combines the previous active blocking protection and security status into new redesigned interface to check the privacy and security of the current page.

Cheat Engine is an open-source tool whose sole purpose is to help you use tricks and cheats on your favorite video games, therefore allowing you to manipulate and change all sorts of parameters on them.
