  1. Mooms, thanks very much. I'll check out those links.
  2. Thanks, and Mooms, too. OK, I could sell the board and take a loss but what about the CPU I bought with the board? Intel Coffee Lake Core i5 8400 6 Core, LGA 1151. Will that work with some other w7-friendly board?
  3. I've just been told I might not be able to install W7 (Ultimate 64bit) onto this newly purchased hardware (that I can't return CPU: Intel Coffee Lake Core i5 8400 6 Core 2.8Ghz LGA 1151 MOBO: ASUS PRIME H370M-PLUS MATX Form, Intel H370 Chipset 4X DDR4-2666 2xM.2, USB 3.1 Gen2 HDMI DVI VGA. (Plus 32GB ram). I really, really don't want W10. Any thoughts? Thanks
  4. ianymaty: Thanks for your response. Actually, I did build my own using NTLite in February 2016, and it's worked well. However, I'm now a little older (77) and I'm finding that the details of the process are becoming confusing. It wouldn't be so difficult if I was prepared to just throw every MS update into the mix, but I want to be more selective, and that entails vetting virtually every update since Feb 2016. Hence my attempt to find a clean OS that someone else has prepared. Hey, if I definitely can't find such a file, I'll be forced to have another go, but I'm not optimistic about the project :-)
  5. Could someone kindly point me to a working download of W7 that's up-to-date but doesn't include the 'evil' updates, like 971033 or the telemetry stuff? Thing is, I've downloaded a bunch of W7's lately and all of them seem to be some sort of hybrid of W7\W8\W10. For instance, the load screen shows the pale blue and white window image that belongs to W8. And the loading throbber is the rotating white dots thing. Not that this early stuff really matters - the OS installs, activates, updates and runs ok. But the Windows Repair system doesn't work. Selecting any option gets the message, 'This option isn't available for your OS'. Or words to that effect. So whoever has assembled a lot of the downloads on offer (I've tried 5 or 6) has patched in several bits from later systems but hasn't tested the resultant system. Advice would be much appreciated :-)
  6. Is this a really difficult question? Or is just so simple that no is bothering to answer it?
  7. Thanks ricktendo, that was a breeze. One more question, very nooby I'm afraid :-( Why do all these files include 'AMD64' in their labels? For example: AMD64_X86_IA64-all-windows6.1-kb2894844-x64_71b051d4b2eae12423868e28b0e5b04a9e10c048 The designation doesn't show up in any of the 300 or so files that Windows Updates Downloader brought in yesterday, but, an 'Everything' search of my W7 Ultimate computer revealed what seems to be thousands of similarly named files in various places under the hood. Thanks for your help with this, the Catalog is a useful resource.
  8. I'm trying to download the following W7 SP1 64-bit updates without accessing MS sources. I need them to create an NTLite integrated W7 ISO. I've already used Windows Updates Downloader to get every available W7 64-bit file but it couldn't find these five: Windows6.1-KB2894844-x64.msu N3.5.1 Windows6.1-KB3023215-x64.msu N3.5.1 Windows6.1-KB3032655-x64.msu N3.5.1 Windows6.1-KB3037574-x64.msu N3.5.1 Windows6.1-KB3048070-x64.msu N3.5.1 Anyone able to help? Thanks for reading this :-)
