  1. feared: :o Wow..... That is sooo not good! I'm sorry for the script causing you trouble. I don't know what else to say....

No worries dougie, please keep up the hard work on this as I think once you get the kinks all out it's gonna be an awesome program. Besides, my pc was due for a clean install..it's been at least a month now. lol

I'll be there to test your next release.... with a full hard drive image backed up prior of course. :)

    Good Luck!

  2. No, add them in Gadgets folder.

Create a folder naming it the same as the gadget file. make sure you have .gadget after the name (i.e Name_gadget.gadget) Then extract all the files to the folder you just created.

put that folder you just put your files in into C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets.

then go to the sidebar and add the gadgets.

Thanks snakecracker, but I'm talking about repacking the nLite Addon made by ricktendo64 with the gadgets I have downloaded not how to add gadgets to an existing sidebar.

  3. Hi Ricktendo64.

Thanks for this awesome sidebar and for continuing to update it.

I wanted to add some gadgets to the svcpack\gadgets folder and then repack the addon. Now, when I open the Gadgets.exe with WinRAR I get a Gadgets folder and inside I get Gadgets and Shared Gadgets folders. Which one of these do I use to add my new gadgets to? I guess Shared Gadgets would be the safe bet.

Also, do I use the file that I downloaded from the net ie: All_CPU_Meter.gadget or do I first need to install it and then add the folder from C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\Shared Gadgets\?

    Thanks!

  4. Looks like I'm the only one using HFslip here ...

I like HFslip for it's easy folder's implementation. Many kinds of folders to control what runs at when.

It also support autoit script in .au3 format (w/o compiling to exe)

Can easily replace system files with own resource-hack one (like shell32.dll, explorer.exe etc)

Takes registry (.reg) files w/o using batch command (At T13 and GUIRUNONCE)

Takes .inf files w/o using batch command (At T13 and GUIRUNONCE)

Easily place GUIRUNONCE applications w/o using batch command

U tweak only if u know how (for customization), thus face less issue to resolve.

Takes silent exe (w/o wrapping with entries.ini in cab/.7z/rar format)

The smallest in term of file size but probably the longest .cmd script in the world :D

    Nice Geej,

Thanks for the info. I'll give this one a try!

  5. No pros or cons, either is fine...like i said its not my 7zip addon, its a silent switch addon error you are getting

Aparently from your second screenshot its trying to extract itself to the same folder as it executed itself in, but this is a problem because that folder you cant write to it because its in the ISO on your CD.

    fearedmcev1052009010803ov9.png

You are correct. It was another program that was a SFX archive trying to extract itself inside the iso.

    Nice work ricktendo64.

Thanks, I now have corrected that program and both yours and *reaper*'s versions install properly as you said.

  6. That is not a error from my 7zip addon its a error from a 7zip packaged silent installer

When it happens do CTRL+F10 and launch a command prompt

Then type taskmgr to launch the task manager

Now look thru the processes and see if you recognize any silent switch installers running

You will now know what installer is the cause

Thanks ricktendo64. I'm trying a 7zip by *Reaper* at the moment. I will retest with yours later today. BTW, could you tell me the difference from yours to that of *Reaper*'s? Yours has the .inf file added. What's the benefit? And thanks again for your help!

  7. I tested a new 7-Zip Addon intergrated using nLite on a Windows MCE SP3 platform and received the following errors at T-13.

    fearedmcev1052009010803ee3.png

and then after clicking OK this error

    fearedmcev1052009010803ov9.png

    Anyone have this happen?

I will try another release, but I wonder what went wrong.

    Thanks!

  8. Please give your opinion on integrators and maybe insight to why one is better than the other. Pros-Cons, best support..etc.

If you use something other than the programs listed please add it here and I will add the name to the poll.

    Thanks.

  9. from a 36gb SCSI drive.. I thought to install XP into a 25gb partition and keep the C:\Program Files folder for what needs to go there. then create another 10gb part as D:\Program Files for major apps.

i've searched a bit and found different opinions. besides Defrag efficiency, is there any good reason to have these separate O/S partitions in a new build?

the Paging file will set itself as necessary and i've read the Documents and Settings should also stay in place.

    ******************************************************************************

    ******************************************************************************

Defragging efficiency would be a main reason as would security and just plain good "house keeping".

Setting up a new PC/Clean Install with multiple partitions scenario.

If possible (money/space providing), grab another hard drive to store your pictures, videos, personal stuff..etc as 36Gb HDD isn't very big in todays standards.

10Gb for major apps will get eaten up fast with a couple photo, video, or office applications not to mention current 3d games like COD4 and the like.

With a second HDD, partition it instead and leave your 36Gb drive as is.

Windows will operate much faster with a large over head of free space.

Also, you will enjoy faster file transfers from doing chores like extracting large zips and iso's from the second drive to your desktop ...etc.

Let's say your second HDD is 200Gb, here's an example on how I would partition it:

First split it up into 3 partitions. Make the first partition 80Gb and Label it PROGRAMS.

Setup a folder inside called "Program Files" for easy program navigation and installation .

(as you already know, you can have more than just the one on the C: partition)

A second partition of 80 GB and Label it DOWNLOADS for, well- your downloads (save your videos, music, wallpapers, torrents, games, iso's..etc etc

Basically everything you don't want to have to download over again).

You can configure your download managers and BitTorrent clients like

  10. If you use WPI it can do this, just dl the tools folder

Without WPI, is there another way? Thanks for the fast reply Rick! Sorry for the n00b Q's but getting a response from the pros here is faster and more accurate than searching google..etc.

  11. I was wondering if there is a command line that can be added in nLite or RVM so once the install of an OS is finished that all desktop icons would be deleted? If so, whats the command and where should it be added?

    Thanks!
