  1. Hi.

Well i have been working hard to get more into WSFI and to also make some changes.

Anyway, you can now integrate your Wallpapers, Sound and cursors without having to delete then from with in WSFI.

    New Release.

    V1.10

    Here's what's new.

    Added - Alky for applications.

Added - Windows Vista Sidebar. (Thank you to Ricktendo64 as credits goes to him for Vista Sidebar.)

    Added - Path Copy

    Added - DirectX 10

Added - Aero Snap (Win 7)

NOTE: These are not addons they are integrated directly in the XP source as part of the OS.

Rewrote the user registry entries section and changed there UI. (I think it is a lot easier to enter registry entries. You can just paste your entries into the window.)

Changed the way the Wallpaper, Sound Schemes and Cursors are added. You do not have to remove them from with in WSFI first. (It is recommended that you remove these from with in WSFI due to the way they are removed.) I have not tested when removed from another application.

Disabled the option to integrate sound schemes while i rewrite and make changes to the code.

I have not tested the move My Documents location so i would be greatful if someone could test it for me.)

    Main Menu:

Documents and Setting will be enabled in next version.

Registry Tweaks are not implemented yet.

    *****************************************************************************************************************

I have tested all the integrations and all is integrated without any problems.

I have also tested it in VMWare and it ran fine. (Needed to make sure no files are missing.)

NOTE: You will need .NET 3.5 installed

Please leave some feedback here. Bugs/Comments ect. Thankyou.

WSFI will allow you to integrate all you Wallpaper, Sound Schemes and Cursors without the need to use the $OEM$ folder.

WSFI will integrate them all into your Windows Source folder.

So what sort of things to expect to be able to do with WSFI?

Here is a list of the things to look forward to as WSFI is developed.

    1. Integrate wallpaper directly into your XP source. (Done)

    2. Integrate sound schemes directly into your XP source. (Done)

    3. Integrate visual style directly into your XP source. (Not implemented yet)

    4. Integrate cursors directly into you XP source. (Done)

    5. Change the location of the My Documents folder. (Done) Not Tested

    6. Change the location of the Documents and Settings Folder. (Done) Not Tested

    7. Insert registry tweaks directly into XP Hive files. (Not implemented yet)

    8. Insert your own registry settings like (Serials for your programs) directly into XP's Hive files. (Done)

    9. Remove some of XP's components.

    10. Remove useless folders (Online Services ect).

    11. Integrate Modified System Files. (Done)

    12. Integrate DreamScenes. (Done)

    13. Added Vista Sidebar. (Done) NEW

    14. Added Alky for applications. (Done) NEW (Needed for Vista Sidebar)

    15. Added DirectX 10 (Done) NEW

    16. Added Path Copy (Done) NEW

    17. Added AeroSnap (Done) NEW

This will stop the need of using the $OEM$ folder and eventually stop the need of using .Reg files.

    V1.0.1

Added - Integration of DreamScenes. (DreamScenes videos are in .wmv format)

    Cleaned up code.

    V1.0

    Fixed - Wallpaper integration

    Fixed - Default Sound integration

    ************************************************************

    Known problems.

    Default Cursors.

When windows has booted up it reverts back to it default cursors after login.

You will have to go into Control Panel and select your default cursors from there.

At the moment i don't have a workround for this, but will look into it more as WSFI progresses.

  2. Hi.

When you bring up the desktop properties and select the desktop tab you get a list of different wallpapers in the window.

Now my question is how would i go about listing htm file in the same window without having to click on the browse button?

I have tried different methods but as yet none seem to work and i am guessing i need to do something else apart from adding entries into the registry hive files.

    Many Thanks

    Worf.

  3. Hi ccl0

Apart from using a hacked .exe i am not sure. One of the features i would like to incorperate into WSFI would be to be able to hack system files with predefined settings but at the moment i don't know how to do that at the moment. Maybe when i have added what i want into WSFI i may look into this.

One thing you will be able to do in WSFI will be to integrate modded system files which i am hoping to introduce in the next release.

By the way, have you tried it because i want to know if it worked on other peoples machines.

  4. Thank you for you positive reply.

I will as you say keep going with it as there are a lot of things i want it to do to make it easier for users to customize there unattended XP CD's.

I have a lot of ideas to implement into it.

I was hoping for some feed back on whether it is working on other users machine. Anyway, i will do a some more work on it ready for the next release.

  5. Well it has been over a week now since i released WSFI and still no feed back from anyone who has downloaded and tried it.

So it seems to me that there does not seem to be that much interest in it, which means that i am considering stopping development of WSFI.

I thought that there would have been a lot more interest in it than i have had and as there hasn't, means that there is no point in myself waisting my time carrying on with it when there are other things i could be doing.

    It is sad.

  6. Hi ccl0

Yep still been working on it, taken all this time to sort out the Wallpaper and sound scheme problems.

Then i spent a while trying to sort out the problems with the cursor integration.

Just waiting now for any replies and comments/suggestions on it, just hope it runs ok on other peoples computers as i only have my machine to test it on, and it runs and integrates everything fine on mine. The main thing i want is to make it easy for people to use and try to impement as much as i can in it.

Please let me know how it goes with you.

    CURSOR_NAME = "Aero"

Now, the problem i am having is with the text in Bold. It seems to get written to the registry ok as the Areo cursors show up on the 'Please Wait' screen but on the Welcome screen the cursors revert back to the default cursors and in the registry i get the following instead of the lines in bold.

    HKCU,Control Panel\Cursors

    (Default) Aero
    Hand "%SYSTEMROOT%\Cursors\aero_link.cur"
    Scheme Source 0x00000001 (1)

And if i right click on the inf file and select install, everything is as it should be.

Is there something in any of the other .inf files that might be causing this?

    Many Thanks for any help.

  9. Which files you are talking about, specify the file name please, Eg:- if you are looking for icons of My computer, then it's located in shell32.dll, For Documents, Network connection and RecycleBin they are located in imageres.dll, For Add/Remove Programs it's located in appwiz.cpl. etc.

Open these files in PE Explorer or Restorator or Microangelo and extract the Icons, Avi's, Bmp's.

Reshacker is good but with limited features as compared to others.

    Enjoy!!!

    HI.

In XP you have Dialog, Menu and String Table in the dll files like (Explorer.exe). But there are no Dialog, Menu or String Table in the dll file of Windows 7.

So where are they in Windows 7?

    Regards

    Worf

  10. ^^ Oh sorry i thought you still asked that why you still couldn't use Microangelo Librarian to edit the user.exe file so i just wanted to explain before, but actually you could, just couldn't edit the icon only (as your first purpose). Just misinterpretation here it really slipped my mind, sorry mate i apologize :D

    Thats ok bud. :)

So if anyone knows how too. :thumbsup_anim:

  11. You can't edit user.exe using Reshacker bcoz it's not PE 32 bit (common Windows binary file nowadays) but NE 16 bit format (that's why you got "not valid Win32 app" error message), you'll need NE res binary editor and maybe 16 icon res editor instead (which are kinda rare since Windows 3.x era with NE 16 bit app is over/obsolete)

Thank you for you reply, i know about that it's just editing it in (Microangelo Librarian) as already stated.

When i try to load it in Microangelo Librarian it tells me that there are no icons in this file?

So i just want to know why it is telling me this when other people say to edit it in Microangelo Librarian.

    Regards

  12. The START button icon is found in the file USER.EXE in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. You can easy edit it. You need to change the 16X16 icon image in USER.EXE to your own. It can be done easly using icon editor (like Microangelo)

    USING MICROANGELO

    1.Backup USER.EXE.

2.Load your icon to icon editor (Microangelo Librarian).

    3.Copy your icon into clipboard.

4.You can't edit USER.EXE while Windows active so copy USER.EXE to some temporary folder for edit.

5.Load USER.EXE to the icon edior.

6.Doubleclick User 001 image (or select Edit).

    7.Select 16X16 image size.

    8.Paste your icon.

9.Now quit Windows, and replace USER.EXE.

    10.Start Windows.

    Thats it!

    Enjoy :thumbsup_anim:

Hi and thank you for your reply.

I have tried to load it into Microangelo Librarian and im told that there are no icons in the file.

  13. Hi.

How do you edit the USER.EXE file?

I have tried Resource Hacker and it gave me an error, but then found out that it needed to be edited in an Icon Editor.

Now the problem is that my icon editor (Axialis Icon Workshop) gave an error saying that it is not a Valid 32 file.

    Many Thanks for your help

  14. Again layout.inf

If we compress our files in i386 we don need to use [sourceDisksNames] because the path is already defined in layout.inf, all we need to tell our INF to do is look in layout.inf for what one equals (1=????)

We only have to add the list of files [sourceDisksFiles.x??] because our list of files is not present in layout.inf, but for shl_img.inf you will find that all the sourcedisksfiles/names are listed and shl_img.inf tells windows to use layout.inf to find the file and disk name

So if i put my jpg file as is in SHL_IMG.INF and also in the LAYOUT.INF they should install?

Example using an existing jpg file:

    In the SHL_IMG.INF

    [Wallpaper.CopyFiles]

    "%ASCENT_JPG_NAME%",ascent.jpg

    and in the LAYOUT.INF

    ascent.jpg = 1,,63244,,,,,,3,3

    Then the jpg's should install?
