  1. Did you try using the built in tskill option from wpi to kill notepad???

    i.e:

    tskill notepad <-- Place that in commandline # 2

    Great Idea Kelsenellenelvian, I was to busy concentrating on getting it to work from a batch file, I didnt even think about the tskill option in WPI.

    It just goes to show you Sometimes, the best answer is the simplest answer. :P

    Thanx Kel it worked a treat. :D

    Audigy,

    Just tested actual install at T13, doesn't work. But it can close the notepad readme. (I will not do any T/s or fine tuning the script since you are already using autoit)

    For the benefit of any user reading this post, kindly do not download and add into your built.

    Code I'm using is

    HotKeySet("^!x", "MyExit");the script to exit when CTRL+ALT+x is pressed
    Tooltip ( "Installing CachemanXP", 200, 420 )
    Run ("setup.exe /S")
    WinWait ("Readme.txt - Notepad","README for Outertech")
    WinClose ("Readme.txt - Notepad","README for Outertech")
    ;WinWait ("CachemanXP - unregistered","Toolbar") <-- during XP setup testing, this screen does not show up. But it show up during normal installation.
    ;WinClose ("CachemanXP - unregistered","Toolbar") <-- during XP setup testing, this screen does not show up. But it show up during normal installation.
    ProcessWaitClose ( "setup.exe" )
    Func MyExit()
    Exit
    EndFunc

    You should consider Kelsenellenelvian's suggested method. If it works, it is much easier than Autoit.

    Good luck

    Thanx for you all help Geej and sorry for all the extra work I put you through ;)

    The code you wrote will come in handy in future projects ;)

  2. I'm using autoit to install. Tested on XP host with standard notepad as default text editor. Works ok. Please see how it goes into actual install.

    If you have other text editor slipstreamed, just ensure it slipstream later than this addon. (An numbered index addon always helps, such as 001cachemanXP_Addon.cab will install earlier than 003Notepad++_addon.cab)

    Limited hosting period (30 days if no download)

    If somehow script hangs at T13 during installation, the hotkey to exit the script is CTRL+ALT+x

    Hi Geej,

    Thanx for your help and time, and the script works great. :D:D I did try using autoit but couldnt get it to work. I have just 1 little problem I want it for the WPI I am creating not as a addon, and will have notepad2 as my default text editor.

    If its not to much to ask, could you show or send me the code you used for the autoscript so that I can look it over, & would it be easy enough to change notepad to notepad2?

    Thanx... :D

  3. I have created silent installs for a couple of programs, but I having some problems.

    The programs install silently to just before the end when they open up a read me file & you need to close in order for the install to finish which is frustrating, but Is there a program that can run in the background and kill notepad automatically when it is launched just while WPI is working.

    Thanx :(

  4. Thanx for your reply ricktendo64, but I am a bit unsure... :blink:

    this is my inf below, Not the one for UltraISO, bjfrog was just showing me how he did it in his addon.

    Can I still use the DelFiles even if I am using the programs uninstall & where would I put it?

    Thanx...

  5. Please post your ProfileItems so we can see them

    I am not using the ProfileItems I am just copying them to the start menu.

    This is what I am using for VirDir Manager and softleds

    [DestinationDirs]

    Shortcut =16407,Utilts,Virmgr

    [DestinationDirs]

    Shortcut =16407,Utilts,Softleds

    I just need some way to deleted these shortcuts when the programs get uninstalled.

  6. Here is the question, I have created a couple of addons but have changed the default program group shortcuts on the start menu to a custom folder ie

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\My Programs\Utilities\Program Name

    So how do I remove the shortcuts when the program is uninstalled. :blink: I could change the default install directory, but is there another way, now that I have created the addons?

    Thanx inadvance ;)

  7. LUZR there is a solution to ProfileItems (shortcuts) with spaces in the EXE name...just use the 8.3 filename example

    Change

    CmdLine=16422,SubFolderName,EXE Name.exe

    To

    CmdLine=16422,SubFolderName,EXENAM~1.EXE

    You can use CMenu if you have it to get the 8.3 filename, just right click on the EXE Name and choose: More Options -> Path To Clipboard -> 8.3 Name

    BTW you DONT have to change the name of EXE Name.exe in CopyFiles just the shortcut's command line

    Thanx for the info ricktendo64, you made it all look so easy in your tutorial :worthy: , but its not :D:D

    LUZR4LIFE, I have just created an addon using the new 5.3 version, and the shortcuts work fine with that :g:

  8. OK, Thanks. Try this. Also why did you change the file names?

    [BFNE.AddShortcut]
    Name =Batch FileName Editor
    CmdLine =16422,%Bfedir%,Nameditor.exe
    SubDir =Batch FileName Editor 4.5
    WorkingDir =16422,%Bfedir%
    InfoTip =Batch File Renamer

    [Uninstall.AddShortcut]
    Name =Unistall
    CmdLine =16422,%Bfedir%,uninstall.exe
    SubDir =Batch FileName Editor 4.5
    WorkingDir =16422,%Bfedir%
    InfoTip =Uninstall

    Also take a look at this. Batch FileName Editor 4.5

    Sometimes shortcuts will not work so here is an alternative. I have not tested it yet, I need to setup a XP on VMW. All you need to do is use the modded .inf, add the 2 files to your .cab and arc.

    Let me know if that worked.

    I was just trying different thinks with the filenames to see if I could get it to work.

    I have tried your modded .inf & added the .lnk files, but FGCBA gives me an error....

    Error Msg

  9. I have made all the changes you suggested Jonnyboy, but it still doesn't work :(:(

  10. OK, make a shortcut for that file.

    Batch FileName Editor 4.5.lnk (something like that)

    EX.

    CopyFiles =AddShortcut.Files

    [SourceDisksFiles]
    PowerISO.lnk =1

    [AddShortcut.Files]
    PowerISO.lnk

    Remove the other shortcut section you made.

    I find this way easier.

    Ok LUZR4LIFE, I will give that try.... ;)

    Change:

    Name	  =Batch FileName Editor 4.5

    To:

    Name	  ="Batch FileName Editor 4.5",8,23

    and change:

    Name	  =Unistall

    To:

    Name	  ="Unistall",8,23

    This should do the trick.

    Ive tried that Jonnyboy, but still no luck. :(

  11. I need some help with this addon, it installs and uninstalls without a problem, but the shortcuts are missing :crying_anim02: .
