  1. .NET 4 is at post #2.

.NET 3.5 For Windows XP/2k3, .NET 2.0 For Windows 2000/XP/2k3, Last Updated 2011/10/16

If you like my build and want to make an addon with language packs, here are some points you should take

    Description:

    • This is my work on dotnet framework. It features
this tutorial so the size is noticable reduced. Also other efforts are made to keep the size even smaller and the content latest-updated.
    Features:
    • Compatible for 2k3/xp in one installer with all latest-updated components.
    • Updates are listed out in ARP.
    • T-13 compatible.
    • all related items on MU are blocked. language packs are also blocked if you use this installer on a non-English OS.(coutesy of strel)
    • Ability to exclude .NET firefox extension(i.e. .NET Framework Assistant for Firefox).(coutesy of strel)
    • Several reliant components are removed to make the installer slim.
    • Files are updated with latest from Vista and .NET 4.

    Notes and Pre-requisites:

    • VC8 and VC9 runtimes are removed from this installation. You must have VC8 runtime as pre-requisite for .NET 2.0 and VC9 runtime as pre-requisite for .NET 3.5. If you use Windows XP, My M$ Runtimes or Kel's Runtimes is a good solution for you.
    • MSXML6 is removed, plz use an update pack containing it.(XP sp3 has MSXML6 natively.) This is a pre-requisite for .NET 3.0.
    • WIC is removed, check this thread for detail.(XP sp3 has WIC natively.) This is a pre-requisite for .NET 3.0.
    • XPS is removed, check this thread for detail. This is a pre-requisite for .NET 3.0.
    • On KB961118: KB961118 is a junk-hotfix according to KB articles KB961118 and KB971314. Integrate KB971314 (and KB961118, according to some English OS users' reports) by nlite/HFSlip directly or use an update pack containing it to avoid MU pushing KB961118. Once KB971314 is integrated or installed, KB961118 is not needed any longer. (In fact for this pack, KB961118 does nothing more than stopping MU pushing it, it does not fix the issue describe in its KB article because we use a newer version of unidrv.dll.)

    Contains:

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x86 on Microsoft/Windows Update
        • also equals to

      • .NET Framework 2.0 x86 SP2(with
    KB958481) + .NET Framework 3.0 x86 SP2(with KB958483) + .NET Framework 3.5 x86 SP1(with KB958484)
.NET Framework 1.1 SP1, in an x-in-one addon.

    • Extra Updates:
      • Updated files from .NET 4 for .NET 1.1 SP1 and .NET 2.0 SP2
      • Updated files from Windows Server 2003 SP2 for .NET 1.1 SP1
      • Updated files from Vista and .NET 4 for .NET 3.0 SP1
      • UIAutomationCore.dll in .NET 3.0 SP1 and .NET 4 replaced with KB971513 for Vista

    NOTE AGAIN:

      • make sure you have
VC2005 Redist installed on your system before installing .NET 2.0!
make sure you have MSXML6, WIC and XPS installed on your system before installing .NET 3.0!
    • MSXML6 is a stuff most update pack contains(and is natively a component of XP SP3)
WIC is included in XP SP3, if you want
    here are updates.
XPS is an individual component, you can use my addon.

make sure you have VC2008 redist installed on your system before installing .NET 3.5!

    Installer Switches:

    • Switches can be combined together, -gm2 and -ai always come prior to others.
      • -ai Unattended installation
      • -qb Passive
      • -qn Silent
      • -fo Execute ngen.exe for performance Full Optimizations
      • -nf No Firefox Extension(You can also use -noffxbat or -noffclickonce to block respective firefox component from being installed)

    Known Issues:

    • If you install .NET 2.0/3.5 on Windows 2003 at T-13, you'll get the following error in setuperr.log:
      • Error:
Setup failed to install the .NET Framework Migration Package package (version 2.0) on your system.
Software which depends on this package may not function properly. Contact your system administrator.

    • However the installation is fine, despiting it may cause some ASP.NET issues, Event Viewer suggests this can be fixed by using aspnet_regiis.exe /i.
The best solution is installing this installer on Windows 2003 at ROE or later, or you can wait for next release.
    • The .NET 1.1 could be installed on Windows 2003, you should remove the "native" one and do some extra steps:
      • Disable SFC.
        - OR -
Hacking sfcfiles.dll to fulfill .NET 1.1's file names with '00'(empty character).

    Downloads:

    • Downloads are svcpack.inf(T-13) addons with -ai (-ai -nf) switch. You can extract it to get the installer.
Additionally, you can change the mode by editing Entries_dotnetfx.ini and then compress them back.

Initial release. Only .NET 3.5 SP1 package available that time.

  2. It seems code doesn't keep updating his any more... so my build here:

In short, the "svcpack" integration of DirectX is superior to "True Addon" for its smaller size, easier maintenance and unlimited context(windows setup or live system).

From now, "/q" is supported as a parameter of the installer. With /q or -q switch specified, this utility will hide the file progress dialog.

Known Issues while using /q or -q:

    1. The file progress dialog flashes for a short time then disappears, instead of never-showing.

    2. If there is any problem with the INF installation, the pop-up dialogs with messages never show either, so it's dangerous if your INF script or source files are not fine. However there is no known issues about this item on this DirectX installers release.

By default, the addons below start the installers without "/q", you should add "/q" by your self if you want this feature.

    32-bit:

    Size: 11.9MB MD5: 9f2496fa18c36b6f7b7a319519ebde0d

64-bit: (Both 32-bit installer and 64-bit installer are required on a x64 windows)

    DirectXRuntimes-201006-Addon-64.cab Mirror1 Mirror2

    Size: 15.0MB MD5: 47a2c155c27f2bddebfceaab374577f4

Additionally, in order to collect DirectX files with ease, I wrote this script:

This script should also work in the future.

    An updated version of DirectXSFXBuilder:

    1. 7z exe location routine optimization.

    2. runinf replaced with runinf mod. (source incl.)

    Update to Jun, 2010.

runinf.exe modified for support of a "quiet" parameter "/q".

An updated DirectXSFXBuilder (by me) publiced with the new runinf.exe.

  3. This is intended for keep code65536's work going. Besides merely an update, I decide to divide it into several packs, for VC7-9 runtimes is almost a must-have while old VC1/VB1-4 runtimes is only for those who work with old apps. Adding to that, VC10 is a new-comer, on which nearly no apps are developed till now.

    Goal

Different from code65536's goal, my goal is to provide basic Microsoft runtime coverage to satisfy the common needs that is missing from Windows XP while still providing stuffs to fill the "gaps" that Microsoft left. I have included only Microsoft C-family runtimes (CRT/MFC/etc.) and VB runtimes. No third-party non-Microsoft runtimes are included. No ActiveX controls are included. Only language runtimes. If you are looking for more than just runtimes or if you are looking for third-party libraries, then one of the other addons may be better suited for your needs.

Why a "true addon" and why not?

First, this is a "no-frills" pack. Second, the installation happens during the text setup and the very beginning of GUI setup(VC8-9), which means that the runtimes here will be installed early enough that programs that depend on these runtimes can be run at any time during Windows setup. Finally, this is an extremely "clean" install; there are no CABs to unpack, no INFs to process, which means this pack "leaves no trace".

The cons of this pack, however, is the unavoidable size increase of you XP Disc. The size increase is further more than the addon's size since the addon is compressed in 7-zip, probably the best one, while the files on XP Disc are compressed in cabinet. In the case you want to save space, please consider using a switchless installer. Additionally, there seems to be some apps that don't like the true addon and insist to install the runtimes of their own.

    So I offer them both.

    Overview of Microsoft Runtimes

    • VC1: included in this addon as a component of Legacy Addon
    • VC2-VC6: bundled with WinXP (untouched by this addon)
    • VC7-VC10: included in this addon as Mainstream Addon
    • VB1-VB4: included in this addon as components of Legacy Addon
    • VB5-VB6: bundled with WinXP (untouched by this addon)
    • VB7+: part of the .NET CLR; not included in this addon, please check my .NET Releases.

    Mainstream Pack

    Contains VC7-10 runtimes.

    • True Addon(The VC8/9 runtimes are installed as WinSxS assemblies, and VC7/VC10 runtimes are installed to %SystemRoot%\system32. And if you are wondering,

  4. What is this addon(or switchless installer) for:

    1. The XPS Printer contains several common printer driver files, so making it a "true addon" saves space. Additionally, XPS Printer copies some files to driver cache, so we can just merge these files into driver.cab

    2. For those who want to update their XP/2003's common printer drivers to latest, the "true addon" also updates them

    3. As the reasons above, I decide to remove XPS in my .NET installer release. So this addon is to make it complete. Please note that .NET 3.0 installs without XPS Printer flawlessly only that XPS Viewer won't work because XPS Driver is not present.

  5. The Windows Imaging Component supports discovery of new and proprietary (e.g.' date=' Raw) image formats. Any application that uses WIC can take advantage of new image formats as soon as their CODECs (encoder/decoders) are installed on the computer. WIC includes updated CODECs for JPEG, TIFF, GIF, PNG, & BMP that are more secure than previously released CODECs for these formats, and also supports a new high-performance image format called Windows Media Photo. Additionally, WIC provides metadata readers and writers for common image metadata formats, and enables applications to preserve their own metadata inside image files so they don't need to create "sidecar files".[/quote']

    WIC in Microsoft products:

WIC is a component beginning to exist since vista RTM, and it's also exported to Windows XP/2k3 offically, furthermore, it's included in XP SP3.

WIC is a requirement of .NET 3.0 and is shipped with .NET installer.

What is this addon(or switchless installer) for:

I removed WIC in my .NET installer release, so this addon is for people who are using XP SP2(or earlier)/2003 want to take use of my .NET installer.

Another reason is that files are updated several times in vista but not in XP SP3, so I collected updates carefully, with catalogs, finally filtered out the useful catalogs and files making them an addon. So if you want to have WIC up-to-date, this is a good choice.

All files are digital signed. you can add them to sfcfiles.dll and do an integrity check.

For Windows XP/MCE/2k3, Last Updated 2011/6/29

    Description:

    • This addon will replace your Windows Media Player Component in your windows installation CD with its contents.
Why your first release is V3? Check this post.
Why do you release another WMP11 Addon as boooggy and onepiece both do good job?
I have workd on an addon including Windows Media Player 10 and Windows Media 11 Runtimes, therefore i only need to modify a few to create this addon.

      1. Compatibility with XP/MCE/2k3 in one Addon. for 2k3, M$ does not install skins but this addon does.
      2. Obsolete files are removed. They are either utility to migrate DRM stuffs or a file with several KiloBytes which is used to overwrite the old file.
      3. Addon structure: File Copy and Registry handling are system-like.
      4. A working MTP on Windows 2003, both their WMP Integration solution can't offer this.

  7. Windows Media Player 10 With Windows Media Connect 2 & Windows Media 11 Runtimes

For Windows XP/MCE/2k3, Last Updated 2011/6/29

    Description:

    • This addon will replace your Windows Media Player Component in your windows installation CD with its contents.
      This version is named V3.
V1 is based on Ryan's work, i translated it into Chinese that time.
V2 is somehow similar to Onepiece's WMP11 Addon. We did the same thing that is modifying the default wmp.inf and associated files rather than Ryan & boooggy's "Install WMP9 then Install WMP10/11" method.(although we achieve file copying via different ways)
Both V1 and V2 are only in Chinese/Japanese. Now since some people need a up-to-date WMP 10 Addon, so I decide to also release V3 in English.
Here is V3. It has several points over V2:
    1. Compatibility with XP/MCE/2k3 in one Addon. MCE Updates included. for 2k3, M$ does not install skins but this addon does.
    2. Windows Media Formats, DRM Management, WUDF and other runtimes are Version 11(ripped from WMP11).
    3. Obsolete files are removed. They are either utility to migrate DRM stuffs or a file with several KiloBytes which is used to overwrite the old file.
    4. Addon structure: File Copy handling and Registry improvements

    Contents:

    Credits:

    • nonno fabio and OnePiece Alb, without their wmp/ie7 addon i wouldn't have realized it's possible to handle file copying like this.
(although i managed to achieve it when i released V2, but my method is kinda "cheating"...)
    • Ryan and boooggy, for their first-hand wmp addons. although they are old yet still good.

  8. nlite integration guide

due to some issues of nlite, this addon cannot satisfy both nlite integrations on XP/2003. So I made it compatible with XP since more people use it. In order to integrate it on 2003 with nLite, you should follow this guide to modify this addon.

nlite integration on Windows 2003: Convert this addon into a 2k3-only addon.

    1. Extract all the files in this addon to an empty directory, for example, D:\IE8Addon.
    2. In D:\IE8Addon, delete directories "pro" and "home".
    3. In D:\IE8Addon, sort files by FileType, you'll see some *.ca_ files, move them to D:\IE8Addon\svcpack overwriting the existing ones.
    4. In D:\IE8Addon, select all items, then right click to compress them.(ZIP RAR 7z all are ok)

    translation guide

It seems many steps here, but they are easy enough that everyone can do them. Once you make a start, it will be extremely easy for you to keep it updated because there is nothing to be changed in an updated version.

    1. Download this helper and Internet Explorer 8 installer for 2003(because xmlite.dll is only signed on 2003 when it comes from 2003 branch), and of course, my latest IE8 addon.

    2. extract the helper, and copy IE8 installer to the same directory as extracted, execute FileReplacing.cmd

    3. extract my IE8 addon. steps 4~6 are editing files extracted from my addon.

    4. edit ieaccess.inf, home\ieaccess.inf, and pro\ieaccess.inf, replace the last line with that found in your xp (or 2k3, they are same) disc. (Optional)

    5. edit ie.inf, home\ie.inf and pro\ie.inf, modifies lines in [strings] section under the line ";Localizable"

    • MUST CHANGE: MuiCultureDirectory and MuiCultureLangIdHex to that in ie8.inf generated by step 2.
    • optional: replace other strings, most of them can be found in original ie.inf in your xp disc(for home\ie.inf or pro\ie.inf) and 2k3 disc (ie.inf).
      • ASETUP_IEUPDATE_DESC, you can leave if as it is if you don't know how to get it in your language(difficult to describe it here).
      • HISTORY_DIR -> Windows\History
        CACHE_DIR -> Windows\Temporary Internet Files
        DownloadedProgramFiles -> Windows\Downloaded Program Files
        Wallpaper -> Windows\web\Wallpaper
the yellow part can be found in your windows directories with localized name(if they are localized).
      • (root\ie.inf only.) IEHardenAdmin_DESC and IEHardenUser_DESC: they can be found in 2k3 disc's ieharden.inf.

    6. editing entries_IE8.ini. change the section [general] to whatever you like.

    7. Copy all items in directory "lngfiles" generated in step 2 to overwrite those in my addon.

    8. almost done. only leaving for you to recompress all stuffs to a new addon.

  9. Internet Explorer 8

For Windows XP/2k3, Last Updated 2011/11/9

If you use nlite to integrate this addon on Windows 2003, read nlite integration guide on 2003 for this addon. RVMI users don't need extra steps.

    Description:

    • This addon will replace your Internet Explorer 6 in your windows installation CD with Internet Explorer 8 w/ latest updates(QFE branch is used in this release).
      Features:
    1. Compatibility with XP/2k3 in one Addon(RVMI only). Only compatible with XP for nlite.
nLite users who want to integrate this addon on Windows 2003 should read the integration guide.
    2. A syssetup.dll-patch-free method to avoid errors in setuperr.log while do not increase your install CD size.(NoSetupErr style only)
This method is even better compared to MrNxDmx(NR)'s:
      • File replacements are finished at T-13(NR's are not until OOBE), so any svcpack.inf execution that relies on IE(for example: WPI) works.
      • Don't use the unique registry for delayed boot-stage file replacing so this key can be used by other addons/nlite.
      • Don't require extra disk spaces

[*]Fixed some errors created by Micro$oft(wbem path and some reg entries), Cleaned some trashes left by Micro$oft(infobar sounds)

[*]Extremely easy for translators to build a localized version. The guide is here.

[*]Addon structure: File Copy and Registry handling are system-like.

[*]Save more several Kilo-bytes when used along with my WMP Addon.

    Contents:

    Credits:

    • MrNxDmx, for his thought of making the addon free from setuperr.log complainning.
    • nonno fabio and OnePiece Alb, again, for their invention to copy files like system components act.

    Notes:

    • On XP with SP2 / 2k3 with SP1 or an earlier service pack level, proper update(s) that update sqmapi.dll, shdocvw.dll, shlwapi.dll, browseui.dll are required
    • nlite users who want to integrate this addon on Windows 2003 please read the nlite integration guide.
    • 2 Versions are released. They can be integrated upon each other seamlessly.
One is the "clean" style, almost no difference compared to onepiece's; another is the "NoSetupErr" style, i.e. no setuperr.log entries, it uses 3-pass file copying so it may be a litter slow than the "clean" style. (In fact the first pass is unnecessary but it's difficult to realize it by an entries*.ini)
