  1. What's going on with XP forum. Just posted yesterday and noticed my post was first for 5 weeks.

  2. Hi! I just acquired a Lenovo Ideapad 3 with 11th Gen Intel Tiger Lake processor and Intel Iris Xe graphics and I was wondering if it was possible to install Windows 7 to it. Unfortunately, I do not have Legacy Mode so it has to be done in UEFI mode. The ISO I use has all the updates up to 2020 EOL integrated along with drivers such as Nvme, USB3, etc. It also replaces the Win7 PE with the Win8.1 PE (Windows 8.1 was tried first and installs fine). I whip up the USB as GPT in Rufus and put in the UEFI7 1.3.0 files, I install it, boot back into the media, use Shift+F10 to open up command prompt->Diskpart to assign a letter to the System partition and then a command prompt->Notepad->Open->All Files to the Windows 10 part to copy the UEFI7 file to the microsoft/boot folder on the System drive. After exiting, it tries to finish the Windows Logo, but it restarts. When I use "Disable Automatic Restart After System Failure", it simply gets stuck on the incomplete Windows Logo. When I whipped up a Windows 8.0 (6.2) GPT USB, It actually showed me the BSOD, which was NON_ACPI_COMPLIANT_BIOS, meaning this is also most definitely the case for Windows 7. Is there a modded ACPI driver for Windows 7 to get it to run on hardware such as Tiger Lake? Also, has anyone modded graphics drivers that work on Intel Tiger Lake and Windows 7/8.1? And is there any way to get the HID-Compliant touchpad/touchscreen working under 7? Both of these devices do not work under the Windows 7 8 PE nor under 8.1's PE or even an installed copy of 8.1 (the earliest these devices work is with Windows 10 Build 10240, or the free upgrade build given to us in July 2015). Any help on this would be greatly appreciated! I was inspired to start this after seeing the work being put into getting Windows XP to work on modern hardware. Since Windows 7 was the second most popular operating system after XP, I hope this can go somewhere. I would love to use Windows 7 on a 2022 laptop complete with working ACPI, Aero Glass, touchpad, touchscreen, and any other driver I may need (those will be discussed further down the road after we get the four important ones working).

  12. Hello everybody, Today I will show you how to install Windows 7 on a PC without a CD/DVD/USB, directly onto the HDD, even without the installation wizard/setup ! [Fastest Method] Yesterday my new hard drive for my laptop arrived, and instead of cloning my existing disk, I decided to do a clean install of Windows 10. But I didnt have much time, cuz after installing windows 10, I had to copy my existing downloads, pictures, videos, install programs, etc. & I thought there must be some other way to easily install windows 10 without that installation wizard/setup. After some research, I made my own method, & installed it succesfully, faster than their setup wizard! Now I am gonna show you how to accomplish that. [This guide will work for Windows 8/8.1 also] Lets Begin! Pre-Requisites Seperate Hard Drive with atleast 20GB space, with only 2 primary partitions [where you have to install Win8/8.1] [An empty/new hard drive is highly recommended] Working PC/laptop with Windows XP or above installed, with Internet access Procedure: Firstly, download Windows 7 ISO & extract it to C:\win7 using some archive manager like 7zip/winrar, or Copy the Windows 7 CD contents to C:\win7. Now connect that separate hard drive to your PC (If you have extra hdd cage, then connect to it, else buy a SATA to USB hard disk enclosure like this one) Open a command prompt as administrator (Go to start menu > search cmd > Rightclick on the first search result & Run as administrator) Type: diskpart Now type: list disk It will show the disks connected to your PC. According to the size shown, you should be able to know which is your disk. Type: select disk X [Replace X with the disk number which you saw in the previous guide, in my case it was disk 1] Type the following one by one: create partition primary size=350 format fs=ntfs unit=4096 label="System Reserved" quick active assign letter=P create partition primary size="Any size convenient for you, in MB" format fs=ntfs label="Windows 7" quick assign letter=Q exit Your partitions have been configured! Now, if you are in Windows 7 (or below), download DISM from here, open the file, when It will ask for extraction folder, change the location to: C:\dism Now in Windows Explorer, browse to c:\win7\sources (sources folder inside the folder where you copied/extracted setup files) & check whether you have install.esd or install.wim. Now you have to know the index number of the edition which want to install. Type the following without quotes: cd c:\dism ## [DO NOT TYPE THIS] Skip the first line if you are running Windows 8/above. dism /get-wiminfo /wimfile:C:\win7\sources\install.wim ## This should output the index numbers of different windows 7 editions. ## Note down the index number of the edition which you require. Now, this is the most important step. All the windows files are gonna get copied to the partition. If you are in Windows 7 or below, Open command prompt as administrator & type the following: cd c:\dism Dism /apply-image /imagefile:C:\win8\sources\install.esd /index:1 /ApplyDir:Q:\ ## [DO NOT TYPE THIS] You can replace /index:1 with the index number which we ## found out earlier. ## Also, if you have an insall.wim instead of install.exe in your \sources folder, ## Then replace install.esd with install.wim (in 2nd command). Now you have successfully extracted all the files for windows! Now, all you have to do is prepare the boot files in the System Reserved partition, so that Windows can be booted from the drive succesfully. Now you are gonna prepare the System Reserved partition for booting into Windows 7. Type the following in Administrator CMD Window: bcdboot Q:\Windows /l en-us /s P: /f ALL ## [DO NOT TYPE THIS] You can replace en-us with your locale, ## For eg. en-in, en-gb, en-ru etc. Everything is done! You are now ready to go! Now boot into the drive. If you did everything correctly & succesfully, then Windows will boot to the welcome screen. Done! Enjoy the manually installed Windows! Hope this guide was helpful & easy to you. If you have doubt about something or you got any errors, or if windows doesnt boot after performing all the steps correctly, then feel free to post below. Cheers & Regards, niT3_RiDeR_Pr0
  13. After some time spent writing cab addon for larger number of files, i started to look for programs that automate most if not all tasks. I found out there are : Inf-Addon Maker - haven't found valid DL links (both here and at win-lite) DX Universal UpdatePack/Addon Creator (filename DXUPAC.exe DXTool_x64_005FE78D48FC1B11F7068FBBE6FC368A.exe) - DL links present but no options found to select Windows 7. Also at start program requires exe of hotfix/update (which i assumed this program creates as CAB output at end, not requires as input at start) Inf-Assistant - no valid DL links Are there any usable Win7 INF addon cab makers then ? EDIT: I downloaded DXUPAC.exe and it was staring in my face the whole time  It is split into several "send to" targets so i did not it see as one single package to work with. Which reminds me : do these pieces of DXUPAC have source code somewhere ? I kind of like using Notepad2 and manually assembling the INF files.
  14. Hello, do you know if it's possible to change Windows 7 Special Folders in Win Toolkit? (e.g: Program Files (x86)-> ProgsX86, Documents and Settings -> DocSett etc) I remember that I did it successfully on WinXP with NLite (and then used for years). Also, is there any way to change them on an already installed system? :bomb:
  15. Hi All, I've been very excited playing around with Win Toolkit this week, and although I've hit a few brick walls and a few speed humps I've been streamlining my install image to become an ultimate tool. My current problem is more of a nuisance than anything else, but I'd love to get it resolved to complete my 'full Windows 7 install' experience! I've integrated all General, Security and Hotfix updates and integrated x64 and x86 images to have a complete A-I-O installer, the latest problem I've had though is that during the Win Toolkit Additional Installers section I am getting an error referring to 'shutdown.exe' (I will run it again and get the specific error and update this post when I do) during install of Shockwave which causes the system to initiate a restart and skip my remaining silent installers. I have never had to reboot after installing Shockwave before, the update before it was Java which may be causing the reboot perhaps? I have attached a screenshot of my silent installers and their switches hoping I may just need to adjust a switch slightly to complete the rest of the installers as intended. Any help is MUCH appreciated!
  16. Hi All, I've been playing around with Win Toolkit for the last few days and keep hitting the same brick wall - I keep getting the error "windows could not configure one or more system components" after install. I am using a windows 7 SP1 All Versions (including both x86 and x64 architectures all-in-one) as the source (which has been working fine to install all versions of Windows 7 over the last few years and has been very convenient to have all versions on one usb, just inconvenient to have hundreds of updates after a clean install!). I used the inbuilt updater to download and integrate all updates (select source, select all x86, integrate all updates, add dotnet4.5 addon, integrate some silent installs, repeat process for x64, rebuild iso and use usbprep to install on usb). I have so far made 7 different images excluding certain updates along the way, each taking about 4 hours to complete. Strange thing is that if I try to install in a VM, I get through to choosing a username and the other setup options then it appears to 'hang' at the Win Toolkit additional programs installer which I'm not too worried about, I can remove the integrated apps that install at this stage and try again. Whenever I use the same source to install on a laptop though, it appears to be installing ok, reboots, comes back to the last stage of the install screen and gives me the "windows could not configure one or more system components" error. This problem happens with each Win Toolkit source I try . Going back to my original Win 7 SP1 All Versions USB installs ok though. I then thought perhaps there was a problem with the All Versions install and tried to download an image from the links in Win Toolkit but get an error that the product key is not valid using the one supplied and if I try to use the product key from my laptop I get the error that Windows was preinstalled and can't be downloaded. So, here are my questions: 1) IS it possible to create an "all-in-one" Windows 7 SP1 x86 & x64 USB using Win Toolkit? 2) Looking at the attached error logs from the laptop, is anyone able to point me in the right direction to fix my issue? logs.zip Thanks in advance!
  17. Hey there, I've just registered, because I haven't found an answer to the following question: If I integrate updates to an install.wim. with WinToolkit, do I really have to do it for all images "separately" ? Or can I only integrate them to the "Ultimate" image? I mean, the files that are used by the setup from the install.wim are the same for every version (home, home prem, usw...) aren't they? BTW: It's really an awesome tool! THX & Greetings Psy-Virus
  18. Already ?? Welcome, Windows 7 users, to the day you’ve been dreading: the end of mainstream support. Starting Tuesday, Microsoft will stop pushing out new features, end free support and halt any update not related to security for its six-year-old operating system. That’s the bad news. The good news: The 56% of desktop users still running Windows 7 can expect Microsoft’s “extended support” until 2020. Microsoft’s slow and steady effort to stamp out Windows 7 in favor of Windows 8.1 is not new. The company ended consumer retail sales last November (no more Windows 7 boxes in stores), though it will continue to let computer manufacturers sell systems with Windows 7 pre-installed. In fact, the company promises to give at least a year’s notice before ending that program. But eventually, the software giant will have to end that, too. Windows 8.1, the radically redesigned operating systems is at a paltry 9% market rate, according to Net Market Share. That is more than than Apple's Mac desktop operating system (roughly 5%), it’s well below the 14-year-old Windows XP, which, incredibly, still holds 18% of the desktop market share. Windows 8.1 has not been the success Microsoft hoped for, largely because Microsoft tried to force-feed the public a Start Menu-free interface (to be fair, the Windows Design – née “Metro” — screen was essentially an exploded version of the Start Menu). Microsoft has more or less admitted it made a mistake in killing the traditional Start menu; it reintroduces it with Windows 10, which is now in beta previews. When the OS ships, likely sometime later this year, it may help Microsoft finally turn the tide on XP and Windows 7. 19. Is there a way to integrate the Windows 7 SP1 files and or installer into your custom Windows 7 iso using WinToolkit? And or is there a safe way to do it using a 3rd party program that would still allow me to use WinToolkit on the edited iso?
  20. Error: Windows could not configure one or more system components. To install Windows, restart the computer and the restart the installation. This is the error I get when I attempt to install a windows 7 after integrating Windows updates. The installation then goes on a loop and does not finish. I attempted to integrate Windows 7 updates, I first got a install.wim from a Windows 7 x64 SP1 CD. Downloaded around 540 updates with WindowsHotFixDownloader and with wintoolkit integrated a the patches. I am not making an ISO as I upload the install.wim file to our imaging server. I have done the same procedure in the beginning of February and that worked well in my first attempt. I did get some errors when integrating the patches, I don't know if that would also cause an error when windows is installing. Any tips or suggestions??
  21. Hi all Does anyone can tell me what would be the install size after remove components using win toolkit? Anyone can share with me the experience on removal with win toolkit only? Thanks BG
  22. Hellow. I need help creating a customize WinPE that boot up with a GUI Environment.
  23. Hi Experts, I got a problem with the new Socket1150, 8th Chipset Family; The USB ports (2.0 and 3.0), the USB Header and also ATX iO Shield ain't functional when Windows is started. Win7 was installed from a WDS Server: I tried to fix the problem with an adding of new Drivers in WDS 'Driver Group 1 Folder' I added and tested Drivers: Renesas µPD720200 & µPD720200A Newest Native Driver by Intel xHCI (8 Series/C220 Chipset Family) ... but none was functional. I have already thought about not taking the USB Drivers into the 'Driver Group 1 Folder' on WDS, but implementing in Win7 Image (*.wim). Has somebody already tried that out? Thanks ahead!
  24. Hi all, I have being playing around with the WinToolkit for a while. With a new Windows 7-SP1 installation a made with an ISO I customized using WinToolkit, I am not able to access any computer on my LAN by using: \\computername or \\COMPUTER-IP. So far everything else seems to be working properly. What part of my settings might be causing this issue? Attached: Session.ini and Screenshot. Thanks. 2013-07-04_19-14-11_2013-07-04_19-14-11.ini
