[Slim] .NET Framework 4.6.1 Full x86/x64 (2-27-2016)

What are you talking about ? This thread is only for 4.5.1 and there is no mention to XP.

To be clear: 4.5.1 is only for Win7.

4.0 can be installed on XP and 7.

4.5.1 replace 4.0, no need for both in Win7.

You can pack the 4.0 into and addon for XP.  For win7, no need for an addon, can be added 'as is' in Win Toolkit.

And yes, you can use the tools provided to remake your own installer.

Sorry,

Got the "to be used for” part switched around.

Why is
4.5.1 (for win 7) dated 10-17-2013 ?
and
4 (for XP SP3) dated 1-05-2014 ?

The dates and versions seem to be switched around.

...or is the 4.5.1 just not updated yet?

>>4.5.1 replace 4.0, no need for both in Win7.

Yes I read that.

>>For win7, no need for an addon, can be added 'as is' in Win Toolkit.

Where in Win Toolkit?  As an add-on?

Thanks

Where in Win Toolkit?  As an add-on?

As a silent installer, in the silent instal+SFX tab of Win Toolkit.

The dates and versions seem to be switched around.

4.0 was updated recently, that's all, there is no mixup.

Thought I had read you have to first unpack, add switches, edit config, and then repack before it could be placed there.

Thanks for clarifying.

Ok, so 4.5.1 is up to date (the updates done with 4.0 did not need to be done with 4.5.1)?

Thanks

No actual need to repack, installer can be used as-is with the switch /y to make it passive or /ai to make it completely silent (not recommended as the install is relatively long).

You have to repack only if you want to change something in the default installer.

Personally, instead of using Intl installer, I repack the US one to add French langpack , this save space & time on unpacking (just before installing), but that's completely optional and don't change anything the the actual install.

Probably due to the fact that it is a sfx

I invite anybody who wants to verify the files contained, they can do an admin install of the original KB2908383 and compare both sets of files with a file compare utility (like beyond compare,) they can also use InstEd to compare the original MSI and slim MSI to see what is changed/different (to see nothing fishy is added only removed stuff)

I uploaded to virus total https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/721cd02ab4bfbbbc1f7758c6ee8ea3d9f73d8ac6f5671edc0286b66e617a1a35/analysis/1390242982/

It all comes down to do you trust me or not

Or he's using a inferior antivirus. Mine (COMODO Internet Security) doesn't think this file is bad. He should report the file to the antivirus company as a false positive.

Cheers and Regards

@ ricktendo

I respect your work. In the past i havn´t had any problems. I´ve downloaded now the file via Virtual PC without antivirus. IE11 gave me the warning that the file is suspicous, cause the publisher could not verified. This message i have never seen before.

I send the file to antivirus company for registering as false positiv.

Thanks for your work

Regards

Edit:

No Virus, its the URL-path. Don´t know why, but my Eset didn´t like the Path for download. Sorry.

  • 2 weeks later...

If using this ([slim] .NET Framework 4.5.1 Full x86/x64 (1-19-2014))

in a Win7 VM and going online with WU, then the updates included in

this should NOT show in WU as needing to be installed?

Right?
