In one hour can I give you an answer!

Edit 22:30:

the issue with the 2nd page on every IE-start disappear definitely, if you set the tweak "Tweaks/Internet Explorer/Disable First Run Customize" in WTK

yes Thiersee has fixed my issue of the IE welcome screen starting all the time. As he states above>>>> in the internet explorer tweaks section of WTK check the box "disable first run customize."

thx Thiersee for your time. you're a genius!

...and DNF 4.7 will be available too ! it needs a prerequisite, I'll have a look on it next week.

Yes, it's better to see next week if and what MS changes...

Because the prerequisite (KB4019990) seems to be necessary only if you use directly the NET-FW_MS-Installer :o!

If you use one of the repacks (Sereby, abbodi1406, Ricktendo) you don't get the error like with the MS-Installer (binding to D3DCompiler_47.dll).

This library is already present on the most systems in the related program-directories, because it's used by Firefox (& derivated), Thunderbird, AcrobatReader, IE, but just not in C:\Windows\System32, where the MS-Installer is looking for.....

Even if Version 4.7 is already installed by one of the repacks and you start the MS-Installer, you still get the described error!

KB4019990 writes the library under C:\Windows\System32.

Bonjour,

@icare

OK, merci.

Just for other peoples:

If you install NET-FW with a repack (sorry icare I use that from Ricktendo ;)), the installation process runs without problems and version 4.7 is correctly installed, without KB4019990 too.

Some programs like Firefox, Thunderbird, AdobeAcrobatReader and IE have the library D3DCompiler_47.dll already in their program-folders or WinSXS (IE) and works without the patch.

Other programs, like the eco-driver (started with Windows and running on the background) for my laser-printer need the library in the folder "%windir%\System32": KB4019990 writes the library in this folder.

It means, always install this prerequisite, even it seems it's not needed.

Nice weekend.

A couple of days before the patch day MS is getting (and makes me) crazy, as usual !

A security update for IE has just requested by WU: KB3008923 from 09-12-2014....

I face the same issue here.

same here, kb3008923 just installed. I see ricktendo's page has the new NFW 4.7 ready for DL (Thiersee TY for sending it to me prematurely:D), but ricktendo still has the wrong year on the file date. he's using 2016 instead of 2017. was wondering how we can get him to change that:wub:. could be confusing to new users.

Hello, There is a good chance that this update won't be asked again after next Patch Tuesday. Let's wait !

here is my latest experience with ricktendo's nfw 4.7.

If I integrate nfw 4.7 via the silent then kb3125574 hangs up and does not get installed, have to end WTK.

If I put kb4019990 as 2-kb4019990 and have it integrate right before kb3125574 then kb3125574 gets integrated but my IE11 integration fails.

if I put kb4019990 in the silent ahead of nfw 4.7 then everything works...

making an iso now to test on vm.

1) What is the difference in comparison to 3)?

2) This is not correct (my opinion), should be as 4-KB4019990, it means after KB3125574!

3) This is the only logical sequence.

1) the difference to #3 is that I did not use kb4019990 at all in my first attempt. Sorry I forgot to mention that.

2) since kb3125574 hangs without kb4019990 being integrated anywhere, then making it 4-kb4019990 and integrating after kb3125574 should not correct kb3125574 from hanging, in my opinion.

3) yes I agree, since that worked for me.

btw, the iso was created successfully and nfw 4.7 is listed in programs and features. its size is 1 gb. In WU I have 5 updates to be installed. strangely WU has kb2603229 and kb3046269 listed even though they were listed in my silents. The other 3 updates are 3 that are expected, 30008923 and mrt, defender. I just installed them and all 5 got installed successfully so they were all needed. I just did another check and now WU wants kb3177467 installed. What happened is those 3 updates did not get installed from silent, when placing kb4019990 after them and before kb2685811, kb2685813. to repeat my silent list was in this sequence:

2603229, 3177467, 3046269, 4019990, 2685811, 2685813.

I am wondering what the sequence will be when the may monthly quality file comes out tomorrow if using nfw 4.7. will we be integrating kb4019990 in the new UL's? if so will its place with the other updates matter or should it go in the silents and then where in the silents?

regards

As I said already: sorry, but I really don't understand, what you are doing :(!

I just finished an integration and installation (VM) with your data, KB4019990 as last file in WTK, just before IE will be integrated, all your silent-installs under "Silent Install + SFX":

no issues, no hangs, NOTHING! KB4019990 is installed (D3DCompiler_47.dll under C:\Windows\System32), the programs too.

Preset.ini is

It just an incomplete job in expiring old superseded update, in order to further reduce Windows Update scanning load

they expired most of IE11 cumulative updates (around 14 updates)
however, the supersedence chain for KB3008923 is now broken, the update that supersede it is expired
therefore and by metadata rules, KB3008923 is not superseded now

they did this exact same incomplete job for Windows 8.1 just before 2 or 3 months
the mistake did not last long, and they fixed it and competed the “expring” job within a month

bottom line, just ignore KB3008923 for now until they fix the issue and expire it
even if it get installed by WU, it have no affect at all on IE or system, because it’s completely superseded and won’t be active
