Hi,

another issue I have:

because of the problems with some update from last patch-day I integrate now using rhahgleuhargh's UL from february 24-02-2015, adding the working updates and KB3000483.

Testing with only updates from the list (with RDP 8.1 and IE11), for x86 updates from patch-day march are requested by WU, of course ;).

For x64 WU is asking not only for updates from patch-day march, it request KB2834140 (IE prerequisite, 811KB) too, even if this KB is in the UL and is shown as installed in the list of installed updates and I don't find the reason why!

It's not depending from OS-language.

Did anyone experience the same issue?

TNX, Thiersee

KB2834140 is a bi-update, it can be installed (offered) with/without platform update KB2670838

so if you installed it before KB2670838, you have to install it afterwards too

You are the best and my SAR-man (Save And Rescue) ;)!

I made a mistake in the WTK-Integration for x64: I didn't put KB2670838 before KB2834140, but I was not able to see it without your hint; x86 was OK from the beginning.

Thanks a lot.

@Thiersee,

I made tests with x86 and x64 configurations, and didn't find the pb you report with KB2670838 and KB2834140 (both in ULs), except of course the 2 IE 11 updates reasked after deep-clean.

No more time to test, I'll have hard work next week. So I'll let the ULs as they are until next update patch, just hope MS will correct the bug !

@Pink_Freud,

UAC is disabled on my real machines, but enabled in VM. IE updates are reasked after deep-clean in both configurations.

I've edited out my bonehead mistake (UAC causing re-asking problem) here and here

Well this is embarrassing. I really screwed the pooch with my UAC "fix"....(Self delete bad info)

My apologies to you & the thread participants. :dizzy:

Problem is already solved with the hint from abbodi1406, see posts #486 & #487.

On x64 was the sequence in WTK not correct, KB2670838 must be installed before KB2834140.

Have a nice weekend, before your hard work next week ;).

@Pink_Freud,

No need to apologize in any thing, purpose of this forum is to help people to solve their problems !

@Thiersee,

OK ! I read the forum with my phone, so I couldn't see correctly the content of all posts ! Normally if you put all KB together with Win toolkit, KB2670838 should be integrated before KB2834140.

I checked again and WTk puts them in correct order. Everything integrates fine, installs, ran WU and nothing shows up. Problem starts after deep scan, as we all know though, lol

Microsoft just issued an optional update KB3035583, this update does not replace a previously released update.

http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3035583

Update enables additional capabilities for Windows Update notifications in Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 SP1

This update enables additional capabilities for Windows Update notifications when new updates are available to the user. It applies to a computer that is running Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1).

Hello,

Yes I saw it but link is not available actually. This update is optional (think I will place it in the list).

.......

A user has posted here (My Digital Life Forum, post #9846) the links (be carefully, there is a space before the name!):

thx Thiersee !

I'll add this KB to the list because it seems to add some functions like Windows 10 DL (see here).

  • 2 weeks later...

Yesterday KB2952664-v9 has been requested againby WU; release date on MS-Catalog 07.04.2015.

May be it's a corrected (minor) version....

BTW: KB3035583 should go into the optional category: not all people want to be "advised" by MS when W10 is ready!

I've hidden this update.

Hello Thiersee,

I've updated the links for KB2952664 yesterday but prefered wait for the next update patch for the upload of ULs. It was not asked by WU in my case, but binaries have been updated.

I completely agree with you for KB3035583, now we have enough informations about it, and it has no more place in "updates" category. Optional update category seems to be better.

Assuming one has a Windows 7 system that they don't want Microsoft trying to "upgrade" to WIndows 10 via Windows Update, it seems that they don't need to install KB2952664, KB2990214, KB3021917, and KB3035583.

Cheers and Regards
