Windows System File Integrator (NEW)

Hi.

Well i have been working hard to get more into WSFI and to also make some changes.

Anyway, you can now integrate your Wallpapers, Sound and cursors without having to delete then from with in WSFI.

New Release.

V1.10

Here's what's new.

Added - Alky for applications.

Added - Windows Vista Sidebar. (Thank you to Ricktendo64 as credits goes to him for Vista Sidebar.)

Added - Path Copy

Added - DirectX 10

Added - Aero Snap (Win 7)

NOTE: These are not addons they are integrated directly in the XP source as part of the OS.

Rewrote the user registry entries section and changed there UI. (I think it is a lot easier to enter registry entries. You can just paste your entries into the window.)

Changed the way the Wallpaper, Sound Schemes and Cursors are added. You do not have to remove them from with in WSFI first. (It is recommended that you remove these from with in WSFI due to the way they are removed.) I have not tested when removed from another application.

Disabled the option to integrate sound schemes while i rewrite and make changes to the code.

I have not tested the move My Documents location so i would be greatful if someone could test it for me.)

Main Menu:

Documents and Setting will be enabled in next version.

Registry Tweaks are not implemented yet.

*****************************************************************************************************************

I have tested all the integrations and all is integrated without any problems.

I have also tested it in VMWare and it ran fine. (Needed to make sure no files are missing.)

NOTE: You will need .NET 3.5 installed

Please leave some feedback here. Bugs/Comments ect. Thankyou.

WSFI will allow you to integrate all you Wallpaper, Sound Schemes and Cursors without the need to use the $OEM$ folder.

WSFI will integrate them all into your Windows Source folder.

So what sort of things to expect to be able to do with WSFI?

Here is a list of the things to look forward to as WSFI is developed.

1. Integrate wallpaper directly into your XP source. (Done)

2. Integrate sound schemes directly into your XP source. (Done)

3. Integrate visual style directly into your XP source. (Not implemented yet)

4. Integrate cursors directly into you XP source. (Done)

5. Change the location of the My Documents folder. (Done) Not Tested

6. Change the location of the Documents and Settings Folder. (Done) Not Tested

7. Insert registry tweaks directly into XP Hive files. (Not implemented yet)

8. Insert your own registry settings like (Serials for your programs) directly into XP's Hive files. (Done)

9. Remove some of XP's components.

10. Remove useless folders (Online Services ect).

11. Integrate Modified System Files. (Done)

12. Integrate DreamScenes. (Done)

13. Added Vista Sidebar. (Done) NEW

14. Added Alky for applications. (Done) NEW (Needed for Vista Sidebar)

15. Added DirectX 10 (Done) NEW

16. Added Path Copy (Done) NEW

17. Added AeroSnap (Done) NEW

This will stop the need of using the $OEM$ folder and eventually stop the need of using .Reg files.

V1.0.1

Added - Integration of DreamScenes. (DreamScenes videos are in .wmv format)

Cleaned up code.

V1.0

Fixed - Wallpaper integration

Fixed - Default Sound integration

Known problems.

Default Cursors.

When windows has booted up it reverts back to it default cursors after login.

You will have to go into Control Panel and select your default cursors from there.

At the moment i don't have a workround for this, but will look into it more as WSFI progresses.

i think that depends on the theme

the only way i found without using the theme file

was replacing the original cursors

i didn't find any related registry

Hi Dark.

Thank you for your comments. That could be one solution i could look at. At the moment all the default cursors are deleted and replaced with the users cursors. For some reason part of the registry entries used for the cursors are removed by windows, don't know why as windows uses these entries when a user changes thier cursor scheme in windows.

under remove components, when i click on "add files" everything is grayed out except system files. how do i select the things that are grayed out?

Hi ccl0.

You need remove the the components first then the buttons in the add files will not be grayed out. I have done it this way because other programs ie. NLite removes them differently, so to make sure that they get integrated properly you need to use WSFI to remove the Wallpaper, Sounds and Cursors.

how do i remove things? manually delete them? i thought wsfi directly replaced the files: "This will over write the original system files" ?

honestly the gui is pretty vague as what to do, or what certain things do

Hi ccl0

I am in the precess of making it easier as to what to do. As for "This will over write the original system files", all it is telling you is that it will over right the original system files if your XP Source folder. (I might take that bit out.)

In the remove components, all the ones grayed out are not implemented yet, the only things you can remove are the ones enabled. In the add files, i am adding a little help there too. I am open to any ideas as to improving WSFI even the GUI.

This is my first application i have written.

  • 1 month later...

Your app sound cool, i will try it today...

But im confused about this:

12. Integrate DreamScenes. (Done)

15. Integrate DirectX 10 (Done) NEW

16. Integrate Path Copy (Done) NEW

17. Integrate AeroSnap (Done) NEW

Thank you for your post, i would be greateful.

These are built into WSFI and if you wish to have them integrated into your XP source they will be added not as an addon but as part of the OS. What i mean by this, they would be integrated in to XP the same as let's say Media Player.

I have also been working on another application (Which is nearly finnished) that would allow user to have which ever program they want to show up in the Control Panel, this was also going to be part of WSFI but for the time being i thought i would do it on it's own.

I mean they are vista components. How it can work in XP?

BTW, i never see it before...

Yes DX10, DreamScenes are just normal .WMV files. If you have a DirectX10 card you will be able to play DX10 games in XP.

I'm supprised that not many people knew about DX10 being ported to XP.
