Users folder + appdata on drive D:\ - problem

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am trying to move the users folder (by default) away from the System partition... i would like to Install in on D:\ or to be asked where I want it to be installed...

Using the unattended file didn't work - users file is still in C:\

I noticed that a similar option exists in the vLite tab - is it normal that it can be done from the Unattended and the vLite at the same time ?

Can anyone tell me the right way ?

Thanks.

I realize your looking for a ToolKit solution but this is an English translation of an excellent thread and tool for this

Hi there ! Just signed up and noticed your problem, of moving the Users folder to another disk. It took me a while to figure it out,a couple of months ago, but managed to come with an easy fix that works! Check out the doc i've attached and feel free to contact me if you have any problems. Thanks for now

I am NOT necessarily endorsing this approach, but to save others the trouble of downloading this short text file, I'll reproduce it here.

1. Log in as admin

2. Open regedit & goto

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

3. right click profiles directory & click modify

edit to D:\User

4. close regedit

5. Control Panel

User Accounts

create new user for yourself

log off

6. Log in with your new user account

and you're done !!!!!!

Delete your old user account after transfering all your data.

In the future dbcat11, I think that this is the preferred approach for instructions like this.

Cheers and Regards
