Can’t install Windows 7 Movie Maker

<p><a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;wincert&period;net&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2015&sol;01&sol;windows-7&period;jpg"><img class&equals;"alignnone size-full wp-image-546" src&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;wincert&period;net&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2015&sol;01&sol;windows-7&period;jpg" alt&equals;"Windows 7 Box&comma;install&comma;printers&comma;set network location&comma;graphic card memory&comma; aero peek&comma;screensaver&comma;synch&comma;windows live&comma;movie maker" width&equals;"720" height&equals;"340" &sol;><&sol;a><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>One of my users asked me for help regarding Windows Movie Maker that is part of Windows Live Essentials package&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He was unable to install the Movie Maker on couple of Windows 7 machines&period; He tried to download the Windows Live Essentials package again but he was receiving the same error all over again&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"color&colon; &num;003366&semi;">Error writing to file&colon; C&colon;&bsol;Config&period;Msi&bsol;82a1b32&period;rbf<&sol;span><br &sol;>&NewLine;<span style&equals;"color&colon; &num;003366&semi;"> Verify that you have access to that directory<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><img src&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;wincert&period;net&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2011&sol;05&sol;movie&lowbar;maker&lowbar;error&period;PNG" alt&equals;"" &sol;><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><&excl;--more--><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>First of all&comma; to be able to install or uninstall Windows Live Software&comma; you have to be logged on as an Administrator&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In his case the problem was that he was missing some of the required Windows 7 components that are required to run Windows Live Essentials &sol; Movie Maker&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Movie Maker requires some components of DirectX9&comma; so the problem was fixed after reinstalling DirectX&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>If DirectX won&&num;8217&semi;t help you&comma; please do the following&colon;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Run msconfig and disable all non-Microsoft Services and Start-Up items and reboot the system&period; Try to run the Windows Live Essentials installation package again&period; If you don&&num;8217&semi;t experience any more problems&comma; then you have a third party compatibility issue&period;<br style&equals;"padding&colon; 0px&semi; margin&colon; 0px&semi;" &sol;> <br style&equals;"padding&colon; 0px&semi; margin&colon; 0px&semi;" &sol;> Add the Everyone group Modify permissions to the <span style&equals;"color&colon; &num;003366&semi;">Temp<&sol;span> folder&period;<br style&equals;"padding&colon; 0px&semi; margin&colon; 0px&semi;" &sol;><br style&equals;"padding&colon; 0px&semi; margin&colon; 0px&semi;" &sol;> Hit <span style&equals;"color&colon; &num;003366&semi;">Windows ORB<&sol;span> &vert; Type <span style&equals;"color&colon; &num;003366&semi;">&percnt;temp&percnt;<&sol;span> and choose the <span style&equals;"color&colon; &num;003366&semi;">TEMP<&sol;span> folder that will appear in the list<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In the Address bar click the <span style&equals;"color&colon; &num;003366&semi;">Local<&sol;span> folder or just navigate to&colon; <span style&equals;"color&colon; &num;003366&semi;">C&colon;&bsol;Users&bsol;&percnt;username&percnt;&bsol;AppData&bsol;Local<&sol;span> &lpar;where &percnt;username&percnt; is your username&rpar;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Right click on the Temp folder and choose properties &vert; On the Security tab check that your user has at least Modify permissions&period; If not&comma; grant yourself Full Control permissions or add the Everyone group to the ACL and grant Full Control permissions to that group&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Try to run the installer again&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>You can also try to re-register msiexec by opening the command prompt and type the following commands&colon;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>msiexec &sol;unreg<&sol;strong><br &sol;>&NewLine;<strong>msiexec &sol;regserver<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>If you still experience issues please post your error below and I&&num;8217&semi;ll try to help&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
