When you try to map a CD-Rom drive to virtual machine in VMware console you might get the following message:
Remote device on X: (drive letter) connected to (hostname) disconnected.
The problem lies in UAC. For this purpose, you don’t have to disable UAC. Rather right-click on VMware vSphere Client shortcut and select Compatibility tab.
Under Privilege Level check the ‘Run this program as an administrator’ checkbox.
