<p>Just recently non-admins were unable to manage user groups in Microsoft 365 Active Directory. Luckily, it is now possible to grant permissions to non-admin users for managing Microsoft 365 Active Directory groups.</p>
<p>In order to allow non-admin users to manage Microsoft 365 groups here&#8217;s what you have to do:</p>
<p><strong>Create a Microsoft 365 Active Directory group</strong></p>
<p>Click on the newly created group to open its properties and from the left pane select <strong>Owners</strong></p>

<p><strong>Add the desired user as the owner</strong>.</p>
<p>Now go to <strong>portal.azure.com</strong> and from the left pane select <strong>Groups</strong> and then under <strong>Settings</strong> select <strong>General</strong>.</p>
<p>From the right pane under Self Service Group Management setting alter the following:</p>
<p><strong>Owners can manage group membership requests in the Access Panel &#8211; Yes</strong></p>
<p><strong>Restrict user ability to access groups features in the Access Panel. &#8211; No</strong></p>

<p>Since non-admin users don&#8217;t have access to the <strong>Azure administration portal</strong>, they can use the apps portal at the following web address <a href="https://myapplications.microsoft.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>https://myapplications.microsoft.com</strong></a></p>

<p>From there user can choose the<strong> My Apps</strong> dropdown list and select <strong>My Groups</strong>.</p>
<p>Once the Group has been selected, a non-admin user that we have previously added as an owner for the group will be able to manage group membership by clicking on the plus icon.</p>
