<p>If you are using applications that use Outlook for sending and receiving messages automatically you might receive the following warning message:</p>
<p><strong>A program is trying to access e-mail address information stored in Outlook. If this is unexpected, click Deny and verify your antivirus software is up-to-date.</strong></p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4822 size-full" title="A program is trying to access e-mail address information stored in Outlook message" src="https://www.wincert.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/program-is-trying-to-access-e-mail-address-information.png" alt="" width="349" height="185" /></p>
<p>This message pops out if Outlook cannot detect antivirus software or when antivirus software is out of date. Unfortunately, this detection won&#8217;t work on Windows Server operating system so we&#8217;ll have to alter Programmatic Access Security.</p>
<p>To do this <strong>open Microsoft Outlook as an Administrator</strong>. This part is important or Programmatic Access Security options will be grayed out.</p>
<p>In Outlook click on <strong>File</strong> and <strong>Options</strong>.</p>
<p>Select <strong>Trust Center</strong> and then <strong>Programmatic Access</strong>.</p>
<p>In the right pane select <strong>Never warn me about suspicious activity (not recommended)</strong>.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4824 size-full" title="A program is trying to access e-mail address information stored in Outlook message" src="https://www.wincert.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/programattic-access-security.png" alt="" width="970" height="388" /></p>
<p>Your application should be able to send and receive e-mails normally now.</p>
<p>Please make sure that you have updated the Antivirus solution software on that server, especially now that we have altered Programmatic Access Security settings for Outlook.</p>
