Outlook cannot log on. Verify you are connected to the network.

When configuring a new Microsoft 365 Outlook account we have received the following warning message:

Outlook cannot log on. Verify you are connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name. The Microsoft Exchange information service in your profile is missing required information. Modify your profile to ensure that you are using the correct Microsoft Exchange information service.

This message can be misleading so I’ve decided to write this article and save you some time that you could spend in search of a solution.

To solve this issue, please check if this user has an Exchange license using Microsoft 365 Admin Portal. Once the license has been assigned, restart Outlook and try again. You should be able to complete the configuration without errors.
