  1. Hi!

I have been wondering about this for a long time now

I know I can use all in "Hotfix" folder but after that...

Now, we have 4 more folders in there and for us "ordinary" people who just know enough to make

a quite updated windisc have no clue what we can use in there.

I have no idea what most of the things in "additional" and "extra" folders are.

"General" and "Security" I guess I can use.

What happens if I choose everything except earlier Explorers?

Will such an installation image work and is there a benefit vs only hotfixes?

I have always only used the normal hotfixes because I just don't know.

Feel like a newbie now when I asked this but I think there are a lot of people that

    don't know these things.

To google up everything should take a while and would probably not make me much wiser

    on which I shouldn't use

If someone could spread a little light on this I would be Happy :D

  2. Yes I know it's not inside Wintoolkit.

I downloaded it and tried to use it, unfortunally I get a Unhandled exception always when I start it up.

    I have .win7 x64, net 4.5.1, 4gb ram, 130gb free on d: and 93gb free on c:

I have cleared the temp, tested to move it from d: to c:, reinstalled .net.

I can see that people use it to download updates (not me then).

Do I need some files that is missing or does it need more than 4gb ram which sounds strange.

Here are the details from the "Unhandled exception" :

    ************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.

    For example:

    <configuration>
        <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    </configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

    Does anyone have a clue?

In the meantime I have downloaded RicaNeagas updatepacks (Thanks by the way)

  3. Hi Kevin!

There´s an option under "Main" and "Intermediate" tab called "Unattended Creator".

Here you will find what you are looking for.

When you have created the file and saved it, go to WIM Manager (also under "Intermediate"), load your image and

    choose "Apply Unattended".

Choose your Unattended File and press "Full".

    Hope this helps

  4. Hi (again)

The test version (WinToolkit141-15_Test1) worked fine.

Done in 1h and 9min compared to 1.4.1.8 that took 1h and 31min for the same operation.

Maybe you have done some performance tweaks between the versions.

I must say this is a really great program and "hat off" for fast response when problems

    appear.

Keep up the good work :beerchug:

    /Falo

  5. I am trying the test version now ( WinToolkit141-15_Test1 ) and it hangs on "Removing 'Support' Folder".

Not there quiet yet but near :)

    /Falo

Sorry my bad! I hadn´t added the test version to "trusted" applications in the firewall.

It was running in the "Sandbox".

I started over again (not in the sanbox) and now it works :)

    Thanks!!!

  6. V 1.4.1.14
I don´t know if it´s just here this happens.
I have selected to integrate a bunch of drivers and tweaks plus removed "extra themes" and "Speech and Natural Language" under Vlite.
But after I have pressed "start" it stands still on "Removing selected folders" for about 20 minutes then
    WinToolkit stops working.
I have tried three times now and same result (same in 1.4.1.13 and 12 (I think) too).

I went back to 1.4.1.8 and it worked flawless...

    Done after 1h and 31min

  7. Hi!

    What happens with McRip?

There's no McRip choice in Update Catalog and when I tried the links in left lower corner this came up:

    THIS ACTION IS FORBIDDEN!!!
    ERROR
    !!! STOP !!!
Either you tried to abuse this server as a
proxy server, you came over a proxy server, you tried to connect over
    "CONNECT" Method,

you have the wrong user agent, you tried to hack the server, you have the wrong referrer, or your IP has been blocked!
    HACKING THE SERVER IS FORBIDDEN

    Is the server down or...

    /Falo

  8. OK! :)

    I didn´t know that.

Then my problem is solved, I thought I needed the MSU file

    Thanks very much!!!!

(Have downloaded the swedish IE9 now :) )

The strange thing is that "IE9-Windows7-x64-sve.exe" goes directly to the "Old" Catalog when I check for

updates so I have to be aware of that when I have checked for updates.

    /Falo

  9. Hi Falo,

a far as I understood the update mechanism, every month there are a couple of new updates, and there are updates, which are newer versions of existing updates.

These (old) existing versions will be moved to the "Old" folder and the new version is copied to your McRip folder.

Cause the updates in the "Old" folder are really old, they might can be deleted, but I haven't done it so far.

I can test it this evening...

Sorry, but I'm not sure about your point 2. Maybe I can test this in the next days...

but maybe your problem is solved, when you download IE9 directly in swedish ?

Ok now I got it on my 1st point, thanks! :)

I can download a swedish ie9 .exe but I need an .msu file and I can´t find a swedish ie9 msu file.

Unless the ie9 that comes with McRip´s updates is multilanguage I guess I have to put back the Swedish MUI file

from "Old" catalog where WinToolkit moved it to.

    /Falo

  10. 1. When I use Update Catalog and choose McRip Windows 7x64 it creates a catalog in Updates with

    all updates.

Next time there is a catalog called "Old" in there with a bunch of updates.

Are those just for the "trashbin"?

    2. I'm from Sweden and used the IE9 update + Swedish mui msu for IE9. Now when I download updates

from Mcrip the MUI msu ends up in "Old" catalog. Is IE9 multilanguage and covers Swedish or should I

    put back the MUI?

  11. I guess the best way to go if you don´t use Ram is to have 3 separate fysical discs (not partitions)

so you don´t read and write at the same time to the same disc.

ex: d: for source, e: for mount and f: for temp

I also guess that c: where windows is isn´t the best idea either

I don´t know but this seems like the best idea if you use fysical discs

  12. Actually there is 90 day trial option, only downside is you cannot activate it afterwards and must do reinstall.

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/jj554510.aspx

Once your 90 days are up there's no upgrade route to a final release: the software will simply stop working, and you'll have to create a fresh installation of a new operating system. You'll be able to back up your files, of course, but system settings won't be transferable to final release versions of Windows 8 - even for those who are getting hold of the official Enterprise Edition at launch.

    Ok!

But at least you can test it in a VM for a while :cap:

  13. I thought I should download win8 from Toolkit 1.4.8 but was directed to a page with no downloads

    at all (I think).

I only found how to buy win8, no link to download it.

But maybe it's just me who don't find it :-(

    If it is there, where?
