  1. Good question. The short answer to this question is: LOTS! The Long Answer: This program started out in an add-on created by Kel. It was based on a program by JoeJoe, which was launched once at system startup. I wrote an AutoIt program that would update the icons in a similar fashion to JoeJoe's program. It got updated for a while, then programming stopped for about a year. Mind you, I haven't followed Kel's thread much since, but I don't think much development has occurred with the program in his add-on. I came back to this program and decided to start updating the program. Because I wanted to be able to control the first post (primarily so I could update the program faster), I started a thread of my own and continued development. As you'll see in the changelog, much development has happened to the program since. I'll try to sum up the changes between the two add-ons: - Support for different sets of icons, called Icon Themes. - 3 Themes currently included: Vista, VistaBlue, WinXP. - Tray menu for both the program and all drives. - a GUI which most options can easily be examined and/or changed. - CD-ROM, USB and FireWire and Removable drive support - Multi-Language support, with 14 languages currently supported. (Update 11/28: 13 languages) - Update checking code. Other stuff under development at this time: - Integrated program installer and uninstaller. (Update 11/28: Complete!) - Icon Theme builder code. - Ability to quickly update language and theme files easily.
  2. Ok, the second preview version has been posted on my website. The GUI is pretty much finished, however, much of the GUI is in English and won't be available for translation yet. The language part of the program has to be rewritten, so any language files from v5.1 will be converted to the new format (v5.2 -- which hasn't been finalized yet!). In addition, the installer has been completely rewritten. You should uninstall previous versions before installing this preview edition. The uninstaller needs to be rewritten yet. It will be completed in the final release. The Icon Theme Builder will not be in the final release. My intention is to start writing of that part of the program next, once the final version of v5.2.0.0 is published. Any features that will be written later will remain dark/disabled in the menu bar. So, here it is. Let me know what you think and if there is anything wrong or needing fixed (aside from language-related!). Drive Space Indicator v5.2.0.0 Preview 2 link removed EDIT: The installer requirement in this preview edition is be removed in the final version, as the final will call the removal functions for both the SFX and the Inno Installer. Just thought y'all should know.
  3. I've uploaded GUI v1.0.10b18. The only thing that has changed was the resources have been matched to batch v1.0.10b18.
  4. First post has been updated to include the preview version.... I'm nearly done with the next version, with exception of the new theme building code, new language stuff and the program installer. Hopefully it will be this weekend when it gets released....
  5. I've just uploaded GUI 1.0.10b17b to my website. It contains the code correction regarding the variable containing the location of the resource folder, which got passed to a subfunction instead of a local variable containing the resource file being modified. EDIT: Oh yeah.... this does not contain the resources in the last post!
  6. Gorki: Sorry about that. I figured out where the resource folder variable was being changed.... I should be able to upload another version shortly.
  7. Right now, I'm in the middle of rewriting the GUI. I've got a good portion of it done, but since certain things are handled differently, I've got to implement new versions of old code. Here's the preview of v5.2.0.0: Preview link removed NOTICE: Don't expect everything to work right now! The new installer isn't written yet and some menu functions aren't implemented at the moment. Any feedback would be appreciated!
  8. I'm sorry that b17 seems to be unavailable. I don't know why.... I've uploaded GUI v1.0.10b17a to my web site. All resources that were uploaded by amnesia have been included in this release.
  9. MrNxDmX: I know.... Took me long enough! Sabotendar_kun: Inno Setup link has been removed. Thanks for the info! snakecracker: You're welcome!
  10. What Does It Do? This program changes the icons in My Computer for the drives that are attached the computer. Each drive has a progress bar indicating how full the drive is. The default Icon Theme is the Vista theme. Courtsey of the Configuration GUI, update interval, drive trays, shortcut management, changing the Icon Theme, as well as many different options are available. Program Requirements: - Windows 2000, XP or 2003 should work fine. Tested on XP. - Shell Hardware Detection service needs to be running. - WMI needs to be installed in order to detect hardware PNP Device IDs. Links: Home Page, Themes, FAQ, Changelog and Screenshots Developer Info: Icon Theme Format NOTICE: Because I accidentally deleted the account that hosted the DSI files, users with any version prior to v5.3.5.0 will have to download the current version from either this thread or the thread at the RyanVM forums. The code has been modified so that should something similar happen, I can redirect the subdomain I have created (http://xptsp.filetap.com) to the correct website and get the update functionality working again. 11. Updated to GUI Beta 17. The only change is that the resources are updated to match batch beta 17.
  12. I've uploaded GUI beta 16d. A variable in the script was changed, pointing the resources folder elsewhere. It's been fixed. Also, XPTSP.INF is now dynamically updated so that the resource listing is complete, without possiblity of missing files in XPTSP.CAB.
  13. Bober: RapidSpread says file does not exist.... AltF4: DSI does not change any resources. It simply changes a registry setting for each drive, pointing Explorer to a specific icon per drive. I'll post a link on exactly what it does tomorrow morning. (It's 9pm here).
  14. Gorki: I'll be able to run a full test of the current GUI tomorrow. That's the soonest I'll be able to work on it. Sorry if this is inconvenient. EDIT: If you have more specific information about what is wrong with b16c, please let me know.... EDIT2: I just patched a XP Home OEM with b16c and XPtsp.CAB is incomplete.... Will fix tomorrow. Mr_Smartepants: I don't believe that V'ISO Live can check for modified files upon updates. (Batch files generally can't perform many functions that program and AutoIt scripts can!) So when you run WU/MU, you would have to rerun V'ISO Live EACH TIME in order to repatch the updated files. As for anything else, I don't know....
  15. Updated to GUI beta 16c. Updated all resources amnesia kindly provided and fixed the NR_IE7en.CAB destination bug that Gorki reported. Bober: I'll just post another version tomorrow with the resources matching whatever you put out there.... (if anything changes) EDIT: I'm really not trying to jump the gun here.... I'm just having a bad day. I'm sorry..... especially if I manage or managed to offend somehow. EDIT2: One more question.... If I can get the permission of the icon author, would the icons I showed you be ok for replacing mass- and removable-storage drive icons? I'm already working on a DSI theme using those icons because I think they look really spiffy (not to mention that the different storage media types have their own icon type).
  16. Gorki: OMG... I thought I fixed that! I just looked through the code and what do ya know.... it's not fixed. Just me a few minutes.... While I'm at it, I'll include the new resource files. Bober: Gorki's GUI log displays that the script is extracting NR_IE7en.cab, patching the files, then compressing it to WMP11.CAB instead of NR_IE7en.CAB. That's definitely incorrect!
  17. How about these for the drive icons? URL: http://www.iconarchive.com/category/applic...contoaster.html
  18. No prob. Let me know if anything else is wrong or broken. Regarding the latest resources, nope.... I thought I forgot something. On another note, the new Icon Theme for DSI didn't get created because I had a horrible weekend. Things got worked out, though (for now). I've started working on, though.
  19. GUI Version 1.0.10b16b is available for download. Resources updated to match batch 16b, a line of code was added to actually add DSI to XP source and compression destination for NR_IE7EN.CAB was fixed.
  20. Whoa! THAT is a bug! The fact that NR_IE7en.CAB is recompressed into WMP11.CAB just isn't right! It also explains why nothing in WMP11.CAB gets patched. Mind you, I use OnePiece's IE7 add-on, not MrNxDmx's! I've fixed the source code and will upload in a few minutes!
  21. I have fixed the link to GUI beta 16. It was pointing to beta 15, which was removed from the site. Thanks for noticing that!
  22. What's Changed with GUI beta 16: - Updated resources to match batch beta 16. - Modified patching code so that language-specific resource files get patched even if English version doesn't exist. - Rewrote add-on building code so that hopefully INF removals happen correctly. - Added Drive Space Indicator v5.1.1.8 to GUI per request. - Repackaged the OEM Info Generator into a 7zip SFX and modified the beginning of the OEMINFOGEN batch file. (Saved 80kb!) - If a compressed and uncompressed version of a file exist, both are deleted before compression or copy of new file. EDIT: Something to note about this copy of DSI is that it is English only with the VistaBlue theme. Other languages and themes can be downloaded for use through the program. The XPtsp theme is going to be built this weekend.
