Posted March 4Mar 4 Highlights of Firefox 140 include a new Unload Tab feature that lets you unload tabs by right-clicking on a tab (or multiple selected tabs) to reduce Firefox’s memory and CPU usage, support for adding custom search engines in Search settings, and support for keeping more or fewer pinned vertical tabs in view.For Android users, Firefox 140 adds a “Select All” option for bookmarks. Of course, as you have noticed, Firefox 140 is an ESR (Extended Support Release) version, which means that it will be supported for the next couple of years with security fixes through regular point releases.For web developers, Firefox 140 brings platform support for aria-keyshortcuts on Linux, macOS, and Windows, support for the CookieStore API, which is used for scripts running in HTML documents and service workers, and support for the Custom Highlight API, which allows for styling text ranges.Also for web developers, it brings support for Service Workers in Private Browsing Mode to support IndexedDB and the DOM Cache API in Private Browsing through encrypted storage, uniform user agent (UA) styles for <h1> elements on all platforms, support for escaping less-than (<) and greater-than (>) symbols when serializing HTML attributes to make certain mXSS attacks on websites more difficult, as well as support for the pointerrawupdate event.Starting with Firefox 140, users will be able to hide the Extensions button.You can right-click the toolbar item and choose "Remove from Toolbar."The context menu for the Extensions toolbar button in Firefox Nightly displays options for customizing the toolbar.
