Local network access
Local network access in Microsoft Edge is a new security feature that limits websites' ability to send requests to servers on your local network. When a website attempts to connect, Microsoft Edge will display a prompt asking you to grant or deny permission. This protects privacy and security while maintaining compatibility with modern web standards. Websites' ability to request this permission from users is limited to secure contexts. This feature is enabled by default starting with Microsoft Edge 143. Enterprise administrators can configure local network access policies. Details can be found here.

New software backend for WebGL.
Microsoft Edge on Windows on devices without a physical graphics processing unit (GPU) will use the Windows Advanced Rasterization Platform (WARP) rasterizer for WebGL workloads. Previous versions used SwiftShader, which is no longer supported. This is most relevant for headless mode (running the browser without a GUI for automating tasks) and virtual machines. On non-Windows platforms, a physical GPU will be required for WebGL to work. This change is planned for the stable release of Microsoft Edge 144. Administrators can test the new behavior using preview builds of Microsoft Edge Canary, Dev, or Beta. For more information, follow this link.
Changes and improvements
Undo/Redo for PDF annotations. In the new Windows PDF viewer, users can now undo or redo actions with annotations, such as highlighting or inking.
Added protection against malicious extensions installed from third-party sources. Microsoft Edge will now detect and revoke malicious extensions installed from third-party sources.
Note: This change is rolling out in stages, so you may not see the changes on your device right now.
Improved diagnostic data collection for customer support. Organizations that can't use the "Send Feedback" option in Microsoft Edge can now use a new export feature. A keyboard shortcut  Alt + Shift + I will open a new feedback dialog where users can select "Diagnostic Data." A pop-up window will then appear with an "Export" button in the upper right corner. This allows you to save diagnostic information for support requests.
Removing the Mini Menu from Microsoft Edge for Mac. The Mini Menu was triggered on websites and in PDFs when text was selected and contained basic actions like copying and intelligent actions like looking up word definitions. This feature was removed starting in Microsoft Edge 143 for Mac. The QuickSearchShowMiniMenu policy was also deprecated starting in Microsoft Edge 143.
Tab Search. This feature helps users stay organized by allowing them to quickly find and reopen recently closed tabs, as well as search all open tabs in a single window. This menu also allows you to enable vertical tabs, access the AI-powered "Tab Organization" feature, and create workspaces.

What is Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime?
Microsoft Edge WebView2 is a runtime installation used to provide web-based features in Microsoft 365 desktop apps that Microsoft began installing on Windows devices earlier this year. WebView2 uses Microsoft Edge as the rendering engine.
In Windows 11, the component is installed on the system by default. On earlier versions of Windows, it is automatically installed for users with modern versions of Microsoft Office for the specific purpose of running Office applications and the components built into the applications, built on top of web frameworks.
For PC users looking to take advantage of new or improved Office features or add-ins that depend on WebView2, they do not require any user input/action; as soon as WebView2 is available on the device, the component will be installed automatically. Regarding updates, WebView2 Runtime uses its own automatic update process, separate from the update channel used by Microsoft 365 Apps, to keep WebView2 up to date with the latest security and reliability updates.
