TPB already set up they systems to run from multiple servers in multiple countries which will more or less make it impossible to really shut down the service. Plus, there's a complete dump of the site available as torrent so anyone with a decent server can set up their own TPB clone. This whole deal with TPB being bought by another company to turn it into a legit business seems very strange, might have been an attempt to buy the whole thing and shut it down. I would not put it past the content mafia, after all they seem to be very active in bribing Swedish judges. No matter how the legal affair ends, TPB won't die. And as for searching torrents, there's search engines indexing files from various torrent sites which of course includes TPB, like isohunt.
