  1. Hello I am not sure if I have posted this in the right area, I think this counts as "other microsoft software" Anyway, I have been playing around with MSN messenger (6.2.0208 to be exact) and have been able to get it to sign in (yes after the microsoft forced update) with full functionality (as of 10/11/08) on windows XP SP3 Why?? Well (I feel that it is) it is relitivly lightweight and stable version of MSN and is ideal for any people out there who just want to talk and not have ad's animated display pictures, winks, voice clips or nudges I have come up with 2 ways of doing this. I take no responsobility for any damage you do to your computer, your software/hardware, yourself, your cat, your dog, your carpet...ect through use of this guide. Basically, IF YOU DAMAGE ANYTHING THROUGH THIS GUIDE I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE I will also highlight that THIS IS AN OLD VERSION and may be open to security exploits, if you want to keep everything highly secure then use the latest version Now, onto the good stuff! :type: Meathod one (Easy and reccomended) First of all download msn messenger 6.2 from here : http://www.etplanet.com/download/details.php?file=2107 (If link down, try oldversion.com or filehippo, but not sure if it is .0208) Once that is installed go to here: http://www.mediafire.com/?xqlwmuojjeh and extract it to C:\Program Files\MSN messenger and you are done! Meathod two (more technical) Download and install MSN messenger 6.2 Download a Hex editor (I reccomed XVI32 from http://www.softpedia.com/get/Programming/F...rs/XVI32.shtml) Open up C:\Program Files\MSN messenger\msnmsg.exe Go to search and click on find (or press ctrl+f) and do a text string for 6.2 There should be an exact string 6.2.0208, replace them with 7.0.0820 Repeat about 3 times Make sure msn messenger is closed (and not running in the system tray) and save the file Open up MSN messenger and try signing in Btw: this is my first post and first guide! What do you all think? Edit: Just changed one of the links as it was pasted incorectly
