Yes, it's some kind of strange... maybe an argument to my theory that the language bar
is set with first logon of a user, afai can remember language bar appears after a first logon
with a bit of delay maybe another argument that the theory is correct.
If this i true it would be interesting what system component is causing that activation of
the language bar with the first logon process.
EDIT:
Found this:
Method # 2
Method # 1 should work most of of times but if it doesn't here is a sure-shot method involving un-registering the language bar component.- Navigate to Start > Run and type Regsvr32.exe /u msimtf.dll in the run dialog and press enter.
- Now, navigate again to Start > Run and type Regsvr32.exe /u msctf.dll and press enter.
- Reboot computer to see changes.
that is for XP but lets investigate if that allready is existing in windows 7
EDIT2:
cannot unregister something seems to block (use) the dll's

Hi,
if someone is using a Fritzbox
Iam very close to the freetz team and can assist if someone likes to customize his fritzbox.
Iam very experienced with freetz
Fritzboxes are mainly selled in germany, austria and swiss.
Who ever is using an open embedded system or a self made router (x86) should take a look at:
I used my self around 6 years the following board from Soekris
2 years ago i switched to fritzboxes.
All the rich features a Fritzbox has today wasnt offered years ago, i made the same cool things
with Fli4l years earlier

Hi,
ok found it:
<component name="Microsoft-Windows-Sidebar" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"><Gadget1>%PROGRAMFILES%\windows sidebar\gadgets\Clock.Gadget,true</Gadget1><Gadget2>%PROGRAMFILES%\windows sidebar\shared gadgets\Leo.gadget,true</Gadget2></component>
is the true needed by win7?what about gadget settings like clock style is it saved by registry?
is was wondering that the path doesnt need to be surrounded by " " seems to be hardcoded.

Hi,
So this works even when integrated offline?
the reg file from my post #2 wasnt working offline maybe because the rest was missing?
I have to try that regfile later with offline integration and can report back.
EDIT:
Iam actually building the image so i can report back in ~2 hours

Hi,
I use this registry file successfully:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CTF\LangBar]"ExtraIconsOnMinimized"=dword:00000000 "ShowStatus"=dword:00000003[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CTF\MSUTB]"ShowDeskBand"=dword:00000000[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]"ctfmon.exe"=-
i can confirm this is working but whats the difference to alfreire's post?
What about the ctfmon thing, what does it?

Hi,
I think you are mistaken at
<Key>/IMAGE/INDEX</Key>
<Value>Windows 7 Professional</Value>
should be
<Key>/IMAGE/NAME</Key>
<Value>Windows 7 Professional</Value>
or
<Key>/IMAGE/INDEX</Key>
<Value>X</Value>
X should match the INDEX number (1, 2, 3...) of the IMAGE from the WIM.
If I am wrong, please correct me anyone who knows better.
i can confirm with /Name it's working but with Index it was Index and 1 before and a Windows 7 Iso with ei.cfg
but index 1 hasn't worked is the index starting with 0 ? then no wonder if 1 fails.
Is the Index 1 conflicting when ei.cfg is existing? maybe the index must be the same if no ei.cfg is existing?

Hi Guys,
after exactly 1 month (registration to forums) i finished my personal project for our enterprise.
Having a Windows 7 Professional Image fully patched with all our software over WTK Installer.
All of this paired with a way to install it without any physical boot media with help of PXE (Network Boot).
Thank You Community for all your support and help.
Thank You Lego for your great work also if it's not open source

Hi,
I'm very glad to have this explanation, so please continue and finish your tutorial, but I also was hoping for a way this could be done without a server type OS being installed. I guess that shows my naivety. Thank you very much for this info anyway.
heers and Regards
sorry for the disappointment
but this is based on winpe as boot media.
Sure i will finish this to have different points much clearer.
Installing Windows 7 over PXE means having to place an amount of space between 4-10GB somewhere
From the private sigth this can be a customized router which enables option 66 und 67 for dhcp, normally
every dhcp should support this thats RFC!
The most problem would be to place a dedicated tftp server, for example a fritzbox router with freetz can do
that, or a fli4l router installation.
Whos not on the luckie side owning a nas can use a big usb stick directly connected to the router
(but speed may be very slow).
I feel very cool without having anything to carry with me to install win7 in our corporate.
My Boss is also still impressed but thats more related to his unknownness what for cool things are possible
The most impressive thing is the complete customized sfx pakages that enable a 90% out of the box ready
workstation after installation of windows 7.

Hi,
we have an answer but a lazy one, it seems the guy haven't realized whats the case...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_To_Go#Hardware_considerations
"Not just any USB drive can be used in this environment and Microsoft has set up specific testing requirements that the USB drive manufacturer must meet in order to be a supported device. Currently there are five USB Flash memory devices listed as supported by Microsoft for Windows To Go[12] :[13][14]
- Imation IronKey Workspace[15]
- Kingston DataTraveler Workspace[16]
- SPYRUS Portable Workplace[17][18]
- SPYRUS Secure Portable Workplace (w/ Hardware Encryption)[19][20]
- SuperTalent Express RC8[21]
Not "all other USB 3.0 Sticks work".
EdNo one was talking about windows to go!!! baahhh

Hi,
i tried the following with a fresh windows 7 pro iso with and without an ei.cfg and i still have to choose an
edition or more detailed i have to press next at the edition dialog.
<ImageInstall> <OSImage> <InstallFrom> <MetaData wcm:action="add"> <Key>/IMAGE/INDEX</Key> <Value>Windows 7 Professional</Value> </MetaData> </InstallFrom> </OSImage> </ImageInstall>
What is wrong with the Value? Its the exact string from setup screen. Is the string correct or must a id been used?
