7-Zip es un compresor de archivos muy conocido entre la comunidad por su versatilidad, y es que cuenta con una buena relación de velocidad/compresión con varios formatos y tiene soporte para más de 74 idiomas.
Esta nueva actualización trae consigo una batería de mejoras que apuntalan a 7-Zip como una de las mejores opciones en cuanto a herramientas de compresión y descompresión de archivos.
Si tu ordenador cuenta con varios núcleos de procesador, también se va a ver beneficiado de la actualización 25.00. De hecho, 7-Zip ahora aprovecha la potencia de los procesadores con más de 64 hilos para comprimir y descomprimir archivos. El propio programa se encarga de distribuir de manera más eficiente las tareas entre los distintos grupos de procesadores. Algo que hasta ahora solo se podía hacer en los ordenadores más potentes.

7-Zip ahora puede descomprimir archivos RAR (que usan un diccionario de más de 4 GB) creados por el nuevo WinRAR 7.00.
7-Zip ahora puede descomprimir archivos DMG que utilizan el método de compresión XZ (ULMO / LZMA).
7-Zip ahora puede descomprimir imágenes NTFS con un tamaño de clúster superior a 64 KB.
7-Zip ahora puede descomprimir imágenes MBR y GDP con sectores de 4 KB.
Optimizaciones de velocidad para descompresión de archivos: rar, cab, wim, zip, gz.
Optimizaciones de velocidad para cálculo de hash: CRC-32, CRC-64, BLAKE2sp.
También ha traído mejoras con respecto al formato bzip2, que aunque no es de los más comunes, sí que se utiliza con frecuencia en entornos más técnicos y en servidores. Con esta actualización, ahora los archivos «.bzip2» ganan una velocidad de compresión y descompresión de hasta un 40%. Pero tampoco hemos de olvidarnos de formatos como ZIP o GZ. Ahora comprimen y descomprimen un 1-3% más rápido.
Tampoco hemos de pasar por alto sus mejoras de compatibilidad. Y es que ahora podemos trabajar con menos errores con formatos como ZIP, CPIO y FAT. Pero también se han parcheado las vulnerabilidades de seguridad que acuciaban a las anteriores versiones del programa.


Tal y como lo indica el título, en las últimas horas 7-Zip alcanzó la versión 25.00. Han pasado más de siete meses desde su última actualización, y los cambios principales son cinco:

La versión de Windows ahora puede usar más de 64 threads para la compresión zip/7z/xz, y el benchmark interno de 7-Zip. Si hay más de un grupo de procesadores en Windows, 7-Zip distribuirá la carga entre ellos.
La compresión bzip2 gana entre el 15 y el 40 por ciento de velocidad.
La velocidad de compresión deflate (zip/gz) mejora entre 1 y 3 por ciento.
Optimización en el soporte para archivos Zip, CPIO y FAT.
Y por supuesto, múltiples bugs y vulnerabilidades han dejado de existir. Como siempre,

Microsoft Defender Antivirus ahora bloquea y elimina el archivo 7zFM.exe (x86 de 32 bits) de 7-zip 23.01 por algún motivo.

  ARM64 filter can increase compression ratio for data containing executable

  before compressing, and it selects appropriate filter for each parsed file:

  when 7-Zip opens, extracts or creates multivolume archive. It allows to avoid
  the failures for cases with big number of volumes, bacause there is a limitation
  for number of open files allowed for a single program in Linux and macOS.
- There are optimizations in code for 7-Zip's context menu in Explorer:
  the speed of preparing of the menu showing was improved for cases when big number of
  files were selected by external program for context menu that contains 7-Zip menu commands.
- There are changes in code for the drag-and-drop operations to and from 7-Zip File Manager.
  And the drag-and-drop operation with right button of mouse now is supported for some cases.
- The bugs were fixed:
  - ZIP archives: if multithreaded zip compression was performed with more than one
      file to stdout stream (-so switch), 7-zip didn't write "data descriptor" for some files.
  - ext4 archives: 7-Zip couldn't correctly extract symbolic link to directory from ext4 archives.
  - HFS and APFS archives: 7-Zip incorrectly decoded uncompressed blocks (64 KiB) in compressed forks.
  - Some another bugs were fixed.

  For creating a zip archive: 7-Zip could write extra zero bytes after the end of the archive,
  if a file included to archive cannot be compressed to a size smaller than original.
  The created zip archive is correct except for the useless zero bytes after the end of the archive.
  When unpacking such a zip archive, 7-Zip displays a warning:
    "WARNING: There are data after the end of archive".
- The bug was fixed: there was a leak of GDI objects (internal resources in Windows)
  in "Confirm File Replace" window, causing problems after 1600 displays of "Confirm File Replace"
  window from same running 7-Zip process.
- Some optimizations for displaying file icons in 7-Zip File Manager and in "Confirm File Replace" window.
- Some bugs were fixed.

The default dictionary size values for LZMA/LZMA2 compression methods were increased.
7-Zip now can calculate the following hash checksums: SHA-512, SHA-384, SHA3-256 and MD5.
APM and HFS support was improved.
If an archive update operation uses a temporary archive folder and the archive is moved to the destination folder, 7-Zip shows the progress of moving the archive file, as this operation can take a long time if the archive is large.
The bug was fixed: 7-Zip File Manager didn't propagate Zone.Identifier stream for extracted files from nested archives (if there is open archive inside another open archive).
Some bugs were fixed.

• La velocidad de compresión bzip2 se incrementó entre un 15 y un 40 %.

• La velocidad de compresión desinflada (zip/gz) se incrementó entre un 1 y un 3 %.

• Soporte mejorado para archivos zip, cpio y fat.

• Se corrigieron algunos errores y vulnerabilidades.
