i guess the generic name would be 'file upload' box? one example is when i go to imageshack and hit 'browse' button to upload an image http://img106.imageshack.us/img106/9059/sdsdsdsdaj9.jpg the box pops up.

i'm asking in this part of the forum b/c i'd like to somehow change the size of this box by default. its not that important, but its a little annoying. i'm guessing maybe with some reg entry ? it would be nice if windows would scale that box in relation to the size of the monitor..

i think it is called File Dialog Places Bar, or just Places bar. Off the cuff, i'd say you try looking at //system32/shell32.dll (if you're on xp) with reshacker. Expand the section DIALOGS...
