strange things happened while running 8.3.1. it gave me few errors starting with zipfldr.dll and on.

so, naturally, i went to report it to U, opened Opera, got to a forum and tried to login without any success and Opera saying it cannot save .adr file. at this point i think: "great ! first V'ISO and now Opera, right ?

when i'm in a middle of something..." :evil:

and i hear in my head the song "... what a wonderful world ..."

anyhow, to make it short. V'ISO and Opera reside on D drive and there was 128 KB free left... :doh:

- tested 8.3.1 batch without any problemos whatsoever ...

1 minor thing is that after seeing 5 times

if you want I386/setup.exe to be patched

It is recommended to apply V'ISO

BEFORE using bashrat's Driver Pack.

if you want to quit press "Control+C".

it start to bug me since i'm not running any driverpacks and don't want to quit (i've just started :0)

bober, it could be good idea to release optional batch named V'ISO.6.6.6.Ultimatum.bat with:

hehahahaha,but maybe its the color of the text more than the message...heha.ill do a chek 1st and if driver packs is detected the message will appear instead.

as for the problems(windows update cpl etc),ill begin cheking them right now,im on vacation so ill have time to chek it out.

Hi,

This XP To Vista icon patch application is a very cool tool. One gripe though "The file for video transitions and effects is missing" box popped up when i executed windows movie maker .

I passed it through dependency walker and Movie Maker seems to be looking for this library DWMAPI.DLL.This dll is missing or probably in the wrong place. I have no eye dear what the problem is.

u must be using the package from 1st post,ive removed the patching of movie maker.

if anybody feel like testing.

wuaucpl.cpl Dialog 912 is in original.

wuaucpl.cpl.mui Dialog 62302 is the same as 912. anyhow, bober, what ya think? there might be hope for WU patch.

were U able to use dropdowns in Automatic ?

my bad,i just cheked my original source of wuaucpl.cpl and yeah ure right, but lol i wonder what happened with the one i have in my system32 folder,lol it dosent have it.and when cheking the updated tab it still worked.

and yeah every thign looks ok,i think i ahve a couple things to adjust.and we\'ll have to find out wich resources are the culprit of:

at first i though it was the x48 resolutions of the the said icons in shell32,but it may be x32 that are too big.

edit; might be in xpsp2res.dll.res

also;im trying to filter out all the [strings] and [message table] sections of the resources.i think they can come in conflic with the system specialy if the these sections are old and are different of the ones present in the files that are being patched.so if you find any let me know.(i think i prety much found and deleted all of them)

and;can you verify what needs to be updated in;wucltui.dll.mui wucltui.dll and wuauclt1.exe so i can include it and if any other resources related to updates can aslo be updated.thx

i tryed using %del% but it deleted the whole resource and didint have the outcome id hope for.

edit;deleting a specific icon didint work, i had to delete the whole section, but its just as good.remotepg.dll will finally be ok.

im doing a virtual test ,if all is ok(remotepg.dll , wuaucpl.cpl and wuaucpl.cpl.mui )ill upload an updated version of the package.i dont know if we should either start a new topic or ask rick to update the 1st post,as it seems people dont read the last posts for any info or updates....

to delete specific-singular icon in a pe or .res file, yer best bet would be "XN Resource Editor" (free)

it let U delete a single pixel. it's good tool, yet not bug free... i remember now, i've been playing with regedit.exe.res, i've fixed-changed few pixels it the registry open folder icon

I'm sorry for being away for so long (family stuff), but it looks like you and Amnesia have been very busy with great new things! I take it the issue of files being compressed and decompressed has been solved now? And I see Amnesia has been sharing some updated graphics love with us all!

I look forward to testing this very soon.

cheap-O-change log for V_ISO_b8.3.01;

fixed issues:

- wuaucpl.cpl and wuaucpl.cpl.mui dialog section has ben fixed thx to amnesia

- remotepg.dll's icon #500 is now beign removed correctly thx to amnesia's help

- all this results in sysdm.cpl to now appear flawlessly

- small cosmetic changes in the batch file

remaining issues:

- icon resolution problems

and um.. thats all i can think of right now.

amnesia;i dont see any changes with the one i currently have,i had got it fromn this post

and i re-cheked ,they are identical right down to the md5.

stimpy;compressed and decompressed files are treated as followed;if an uncompressed file in the i386 dir exsists and is in the list of the files to patch, it will get processed and will result in a compressed file.if both(happens to me all the time ;de-cabed a file and forgot to recab/del it)are present,the uncompressed file will get picked up by the script and get processed,then will overwrite the allredy compressed version and of course deleting the uncompressed one.resulting in having only the newly cabed file present.and of cours if only cabed file exsist,process will continue as it did in the previous versions of the viso batch.

Good work Bober and Amnesia.

I have downloaded and installed the latest V'ISO, and find it to work very well so far.

I have noticed the OOBE is not good enough however, the reason I say this, is because much of the white text is rendered against a white part of the backgroud, making it completely un-readable. Also the background image suffers from terrible compression artifacts.

I use these files, by dropping them in to the extras folder of the V'ISO archive, and letting them replace the files that are already there...

Appart from the problem with some of the graphics showing at half width (compressed) and maybe the coloured backgrounds re-added to the Turn Off Computer dialogue, I would say it's ready for a major release number change (uppon fixing of the graphics issue.), like V'ISO 8.4, to help show the amount of work and changes made since 8.2.1.

This is confusing, updates are all over the place...I think a new topic (and maybe a new name ) would do where you could update the SFX package
