Windows Defender

Info: Editable RunOnceEx Switchless SFX Installer. You can easily add the Updated Defs from your PC into the WindowsDefender.exe installer.

Installer is updated with 3/26/2008 Spyware Definitions (you can take it from here on :))

Size: 7.76 MB

How to update:

U p d a t i n g I n s t r u c t i o n s :

1) Open the Installer with WinRAR
2) Go a bit deeper (in WinRAR) into the this installer's sub-folders

"Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Definition Updates\Default"

3) Copy the following in Run...

"%AllUsersProfile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Definition Updates"

4) Locate the folder containing the latest updates (look for something like "{XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX}")
5) Drag & drop those updated definitions (mpasbase.vdm, mpasdlta.vdm and MpEngine.dll) into the opened with WinRAR "Default" subdir
6) Hit "OK" and you are done

Note: You can only install this program once you logged into windows, it is NOT! svcpack compatible.

Changelog:

3-27-08

- Updated with latest defs 3/26/2008

- Now uses TRANSFORMS to stop the program from launching after install

There in

%AllUsersProfile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Definition Updates\{XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX}
The X is to represent a number
%AllUsersProfile% = X:\Documents and Settings\All Users

Hey,

I think this is the best idea, suggest your users do a find and replace. There are only two instances of the folder name in your *.cmd file.

laze.

Hey,

Would it be possible to prompt the user to enter the folder name where their definitions are located, store this as a variable and use it in your batch file.

windows defender/deffoldername$

Something like that?

laze.
