  1. Oh sorry Bro i thought you only want know that how to install MIP in Xp or Vista, thx alot for your help DaRk MaDnEsS. Seems you have Windows 7 installed , The dlls i meant are co-dependent dlls for handwritten Mathematical recognition APIs for mip.exe that you may find it/them by using Dependency walker or other binaries tools for the calls (i dont know its/their name coz i dont have Windows 7 installed coz still no have time/space, maybe next year. Installing Windows 7 in VM maybe a good idea for virtualization/clean "sandbox", but i think it wont be so optimal since some drivers will still not work, include some virtual ones, as my previous experience) . However i still don't know how does Windows 7 environment like (maybe like Vista? The mip doesnt have the mui file (?). And might be some Windows 7 apps such as Notepad, Sticky Notes (i've got Windows 7 Sidebar from Ricktendo - Thx alot mate, but too bad i have tried it and still can't work so far even in Vista lol ). Thank u so much for your help Bro' DaRk MaDnEsS, im waiting for the code. May God bless U and Us to get them all working in Vista and/or Xp :thumbsup_anim: Ameen!...
  2. Lol so you have replaced it with Longhorn? Btw do you know which cool apps/feature from Longhorn Bro? Have you tried to run it/them in Xp/Vista :g: Where did you download/get Longhorn ISO (what build)? from FTP server?
  3. ALTERNATIVES/FUNCTIONAL REPLACEMENTS FOR WINDOWS 7 MATH INPUT PANEL IN XP/VISTA + NEW VISTA STUFFS (TABLET) PORTED TO XP ALL EDITIONS + SOME LINKS FOR "XP TO WINDOWS 7" PS: If you want more Vista and Windows 7 applications and features on XP, then please also visit (Recommended): "List of Most Vista and Windows 7 Applications for XP" Hello everybody. Since our friend (n' my Bro) Jdd has ported Windows 7 Math Input Panel to Xp and Vista HERE. However it's not 100% functional (inking recognition feature still doesn't work), but still better than nothing at all (like beta stage). So after uploading Tablet PC Input Panel for Xp Pro, Home, MCE here (All Editions) here, then i have uploaded some replacement applications (functional, from MS) for Windows 7 Math Input Panel in both Xp and Xp Tablet PC 2005, also Vista, + some new Vista/Tablet PC stuffs that ported to Xp All Editions (Pro, Home, MCE). Also added some links for "Xp to Windows 7 OS" (New). Again, thx alot to Bro Jdd for the inspiration for this thread. All have installers, so they are easier to get for most end users. Hopefully useful to enhance our Xp, cheers! Please also read more info about it (Tablet to Xp)/Visit previous threads by Me : - Vista Snipping Tool, Sticky Notes, Inkball for Xp (+ Vista Texas Hold'em and Tablet PC 2005 Snipping Tool ported to Xp): http://www.winmatrix.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19718 - Windows Journal for Xp: http://www.winmatrix.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19894 - Xp Tablet PC PowerToys Ported to Xp All Editions (Tablet APIs Emulation in Xp Pro/Non Tablet) http://www.winmatrix.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19910 - Tablet PC Input Panel for Xp Pro, Home, MCE (Installer, Uninstallable): http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=5023 Download Vista / Windows 7 Icons for TIP, Journal, Sticky Notes, Inkball (XP Tablet PC Applications): http://www.4shared.com/file/131121973/3bdfa356/Vista_7_Icons_for_TIP_Journal_Inkball_Sticky_Notes.html IMPORTANT NOTE, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: 1). Installing too many apps may need more resource (depends on your system/specs). Please consider about that. 2). For Windows Xp : Xp Tablet PC 2005 (in Tablet PC) and Xp Pro/Home/MCE in Desktop PC/Laptop with Mouse (minimal, just for fun) or better Tablet-like hardware (e.g Mouse Pen, please read below), Also Windows Vista (some apps) 3). About Inking/Handwriting in PC and Laptop -> Recommended for Tablet PC Behavior in PC/Laptop: Although you can still use Mouse (with its limitation) To make handwriting and inking more easier in PC/Laptop (non-Tablet) with Xp Pro/Home/MCE, then you can also use Mouse Pen Tablet Hardware for PC (recommended, e.g the ones from Wacom and Genius) which you can get only for less than $60, much cheaper than real Tablet PC. It's also more helpful if you're a Graphic Designer (by using some apps such as Corel Painter or Photoshop etc), especially when you're working with PC/Conventional Laptop. ================================================================================ ======= 1). Microsoft Equation Writer (Functional Replacement/Alternative for Math Input Panel in Xp and Vista, Stand Alone) Too bad the original MIP can be ported to Xp and Vista but still miss the functionality (at least for now, till fixed) but you can still "mimic/simulate" New Windows 7 Math Input Panel in Xp and Vista (that still lack of some functionality) though it can't solve the equation and only export as image). Looks poor, so if you need more, you can also use Microsoft Math below (with more advanced features) or even only Microsoft Equation Editor (built in Office Edition) for mathematical Expression. PS: Other more powerful 3rd parties which you can also consider as replacement: i.e XThink Calculator and Math Journal. NOTE: This version of Microsoft Equation Writer (as original part of Microsoft Experience Pack for Windows Vista) has already been ported to Windows Xp All Editions (Pro, Home, MCE, and Tablet PC) as a stand alone application. (The Readme and EULA files are still remained original (for the main points) except some updated parts e.g this box, for info only). Prerequisites: (Windows Xp Pro, Home, MCE, Tablet PC 2005, and Windows Vista. See the required editions for Windows Vista below): - Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 (v2.0.50727) and/or higher -> Required for Windows Xp only. (Windows Vista has included built in .Net Framework 3.0, which is higher. Usually they don’t need .Net Framework 2.0 anymore except some cases) - Microsoft Windows Journal Viewer 1.5 (Pro, Home, MCE) -> Required for Inking/Handwriting support in Xp Pro, Home, MCE only. Mouse Pen hardware is highly recommended and better for inking/handwriting in Xp Non Tablet instead of standard mouse. Windows Xp Tablet PC Edition 2005 and Windows Vista don’t need Windows Journal Viewer at all and can’t also install it. Also, if you have Microsoft Office 2003 or 2007 installed in Windows Xp, it seems then usually you don’t need Windows Journal Viewer anymore (in most cases). (All download links of prerequisites above in Tablet PC Input Panel/Math Input Panel Section) Note: This is also an updated version of Microsoft Equation Writer in previous Microsoft Education Pack for Xp Tablet PC Edition 2005. This customized version can also be installed in Windows Vista as well as the original one and even might be in other supported OSes. It's a stand alone application. It's also available as part of Vista Experience Pack for Xp installer below (with bigger size). Screenshot: * DOWNLOAD MICROSOFT EQUATION WRITER STAND ALONE INSTALLER FOR XP/VISTA: Microsoft Equation Writer Installer, Uninstallable: Size: Only 6,35 Mb MD5 Checksum: 863C53D473898A43AD154D01598C7763 http://www.4shared.com/file/73821933/f90d1...and_Vista_.html - Download unpacked version (without installer) if you had a problem with the installer (e.g false positive/alarm etc): http://www.4shared.com/file/129418896/41d4fa70/Microsoft_Equation_Writer_for_XP__Unpacked_.html 2). Microsoft Math (A Better Functional Replacement for Math Input Panel and Calculator too) This one is better than Microsoft Equation Writer and even the original W7 Math Input Panel Itself. It can recognize both handwriting and typing, solve, and paste any Mathematical Equation and some mathematical problems (Algebra, Arithmatic, Trigonometry, Calculus, Geometry, Statistic, and many more etc!). It also has Calculator which even better than any standard Windows Calculator... Screenshot 1 (MS Math: The Calculator, Display, and Inking Features): As you can see, it also has a calculator too. Actually you're not required to use Microsoft Math in only Tablet PC environment since it's basically not Tablet-only application (the inking/handwriting is just an additional feature which can be enabled only if you install it in Xp Tablet PC 2005 and Vista Premium/Ultimate or Xp Pro/Home/MCE with Windows Journal Viewer 1.5 installed). You can use it to count, calculate, solve some mathematic problems, draw curve graphic, and many more like a super calculator application. You can also use Microsoft Math as a good replacement for both Windows 7 Calculator and Math Input Panel in Xp and Vista (See list on the bottom). Get Microsoft Math for free here... Note/Tips To mimic New Windows 7 Math Input Panel in Xp and Vista (PC, Laptop, and Tablet PC) with inking enabled: After installing then stretch the inking preview pane so it's larger (like Windows 7 Math Input Panel). Also select: Toolbar -> View -> Check "Use Handwriting Input" as default view setting. You can even use the calculator feature that more powerful than Windows 7 standard calculator (in some cases). Then uncheck "Show on Start Up" on Math Tools Box and close it,so it doesn't start up/cover the inking preview pane anymore (make it looks clearer). Don't forget to explore the other features which can be very useful for us (read the help file). Enjoy! Usually they don’t need .Net Framework 2.0 anymore except some cases) - Microsoft Windows Journal Viewer 1.5 (Pro, Home, MCE) -> Optional (you can still run Microsoft Math without installing it), only for Inking/Handwriting support in Xp Pro, Home, MCE only. Microsoft Sudoku (From Origami Experience Pack for Windows Vista, ported to Xp) This is a Tablet PC Game from both Vista and Tablet PC that ported to Xp Pro/Home/MCE like Inkball (both of them based on "inking"). Note: Some (Joined) OEM Distributors and Microsoft have also released “Microsoft Touch Pack” for UMPC (Ultra-Mobile Project with Xp Tablet PC Edition 2005 OS (as well as “Microsoft Origami Experience Pack” for Vista) that has already included Sudoku Games as part of “Origami Project” (code named for UMPC -. Ultra Mobile Personal Computer, with Xp and Vista OS by Default). Since now you can also enjoy it in Xp All Editions (Pro, Home, MCE) as an enhancement too by using this port. This customized version can also be installed in Windows Vista as well as the original one and even might be in other supported OSes. Please download/get and install some prerequisites below (Required only for Windows Xp Pro, Home, and MCE. Since Xp Tablet PC 2005 OS has included them/their features): - Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 and/or higher (Pro and Home –> MCE and Tablet PC have included it). - Microsoft Windows Journal Viewer 1.5 (Pro, Home, MCE). Mouse Pen hardware is highly recommended and better for inking/handwriting in Xp Non Tablet instead of standard mouse. Also, if you have Microsoft Office 2003 or 2007 installed in Windows Xp, it seems then usually you don’t need Windows Journal Viewer anymore (in most cases). - Tablet PC Handwriting and Gesture Recognizer or TPR/TRP/TPG –> (Pro, Home, MCE). Note: For English Users only, you can also use TPR Lite (US or UK) for only about ±3 Mb instead of downloading 80 Mb Multi-Languages version from Microsoft. - Tablet PC SDK 1.7. Note: It seems if you already have Tablet PC Input Panel for Windows Xp All Editions installed before (as a “Port” by me), then you may not need Tablet PC SDK 1.7 only for running Sudoku, since they might use some shared binaries. Microsoft Experience Pack for Windows Vista (ported to Xp) Like previous Microsoft Experience Pack for Tablet PC, this is just updated versions for Windows Vista that already ported to Xp. The Experience Pack contains 4 main applications: - Ink Crossword - Media Transfer - Equation Writer - Ink Flash Cards Please download/get and install some prerequisites below (Required only for Windows Xp Pro, Home, and MCE. Since Xp Tablet PC 2005 OS has included them/their features): - Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 (v2.0.50727) and/or higher. - Microsoft Windows Journal Viewer 1.5 (Pro, Home, MCE) for inking/handwriting support. Mouse Pen hardware is highly recommended and better for inking/handwriting in Xp Non Tablet instead of standard mouse. (Please visit some Amir’z threads in winMatrix.com or wincert.net or browse to get TPR Lite). - Tablet PC SDK 1.7 for Windows Xp Non Tablet (Pro, Home, MCE. Required for Ink Crossword and Ink Flash Cards). - Windows Media Player 10 or 11 or higher (Optional but required for Media Transfer to work properly). - Windows Media Connect (Optional, for Media Transfer in “Second PC” and (recommended) vice versa). Note: By using Media Transfer, it seems you can “simulate” your first PC/Laptop as Tablet PC for transferring multimedia data. Install Windows Media Connect for second PC (as the second peer or the PC) and also (recommended) vice versa. (All download links of prerequisites above in Tablet PC Input Panel/Math Input Panel Section) Some built in Xp Features which have to be enabled by default (as well as Vista): - Internet Connection is required for Ink Crossword – Don’t forget to set up the default Firewall to permit it. - Universal Plug and Play Device Host service is required for Media Transfer. - Some Desktop Settings (Optional. Please read below as default settings for Windows Vista). Please read some specific settings and features below for each program that included. The term false positive is used when antivirus software wrongly classifies an innocuous ( inoffensive ) file as a virus. The incorrect detection may be due to heuristics or to an incorrect virus signature in a database.Usually some great and famous antiviruses (such as Kaspersky, AVG, Norman, McAfee, etc) won't have the such problem so far bcoz they will work better. If that happens, then you can simply ignore it and continue installing as it's guaranteed actually 100% safe and clean by me. But again, it's still 100% your own choice and right to decide. Others: Since Windows 7 (Beta) is still updated version of Vista at least for now (it still has Vista features but much more enhanced), alternatively you can still use many more replacements for Vista features and applications in Xp or Vista : - List of Most Vista Applications and Features for Xp (By me): NOTE: Some/Other Advantages for All Desktop PC, Laptop, and Tablet PC Users: Mmm, as i said above, For Desktop/Laptop users with Xp non-tablet OS (Pro, Home, MCE), since now they can be more happier by enhancing their Xp OSes (Pro/Home/MCE) to have all features by default (Ultimate etc), without any limitation/separation or separated Xp OSes anymore (like Vista's way for desktop) i.e for Desktop customization (fun) or using some inking/handwriting Tablet apps (by using either mouse or special mouse pen for inking in desktop PC as said above) in some useful/productive activities (i.e for graphic designers or people who often like/use handwriting and handdrawing by using the apps/features as said above), can be useful for them, etc etc... For Tablet PC user, in another (rare) case (for example, as i often read some topics about it by Tablet PC users on some tablet forum/net), if you have a new Tablet PC which came with pre-installed Vista (not like Xp, Vista for Tablet is identical/same with PC version), but you still want to "downgrade" it to Xp Tablet PC 2005 (Downgrades right is only available for Ultimate/Business as far i know, and Xp Tablet PC OS is not available as retail, but only OEM with the Tablet PC itself unless you're MSDN subscriber or a fanatic torrent user lol), then you can only install your own Xp Pro or MCE on it, then install some Tablet PC stuffs above (Journal, Sticky Notes, Input Panel), done. Same case if you miss Xp Tablet PC OS CD etc. So the problem can be solved... Again, Thx alot to My Bro Jdd for inspiring me to make this thread... To all Xp Users and lovers even also haters, Long Live Xp! Again, Hopefully useful to Enhance Windows Xp more better, or as said at least just for fun. Good luck n Cya!...Peace! ============================================ ADDED ONES: Additional MCE and Tablet PC Stuffs for Xp : It reminds me about MSFN/Rafael "Xp Ultimate" project several years ago ...although it's been "officially" removed on their sites, but you can still find and download some torrents of it though...). However you can still create your own "Xp Ultimate yourself", more customizable by converting Xp Pro/Home to either or both Xp MCE 2005 and Xp Tablet PC 2005 (OSes). Since they are supersets of Xp Pro with add ons (still based on same code base), hopefully there's no compatibility issue (exception maybe some OEM or unsigned drivers and settings though i.e Tablet PC 2005 basic driver is not compatible with my Toshiba Notebook OEM Battery driver, btw based on my own experience) and don't worry, there's no Xp Pro/Home feature removed. Here is the simple way without need to reinstall/reformat the OS (you may need some tools that can be downloaded/googled below). Anyway Good luck: ============================================== - Convert Xp Pro/Home/MCE 2005 to Xp Tablet PC 2005 OS without reinstalling the OS: If you really want to convert Xp to real Xp Tablet PC 2005 OS without reinstalling/reformatting the OS (it will be recognized as original MCE 2005 by MS and updated!). Useful i.e you have Tablet PC with Vista installed but still want to: dual boot it with Xp but you only have original Xp Pro. Just convert it to Xp Tablet PC for free. 1) Install: -Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 -Install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0.3705 and It's SP3. -Copy "Copy2Gac.exe" to "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.0.3705" -Install Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 and its SP1. 2) Navigate : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA and create a key named TabletPC now add a string value named "Installed" and set as 1 Or directly double click "TabletPC.reg" to merge it into registry->Optional though to finally convert the OS to Xp Tablet PC 2005 as you can see the System Properties changed. But finally the system will still be Tablet PC 2005 OS after some MS updates and boots though. Install Tablet PC 2005 U can replace below commands for MCE later or add both MCE+TPC with these commands Get tabletpc.inf (included) .copy to C:\windows\inf\ ; then Run following commands to install Tablet PC components: Open Command Prompt (Run -> Type "CMD" without Quotes) or directly double click"TABLETPC.cmd" to run the Tablet PC commands (included). rundll32 setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection TPG 128 tabletpc.inf rundll32 setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection System 128 tabletpc.inf rundll32 setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection OOBE 128 tabletpc.inf rundll32 setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection Notebook 128 tabletpc.inf rundll32 setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection StickyNotes 128 tabletpc.inf rundll32 setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection AllShortcuts 128 tabletpc.inf rundll32 setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection SRInstall 128 tabletpc.inf rundll32 setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection AllReg 128 tabletpc.inf C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.0.3705\Copy2Gac.exe /i /a /p:"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Ink\1.7\" Note: After executing command, it will open new dialog window and ask you to navigate/browse to where you placed TabletPC.cab. Copy "Copy2Gac.exe" to "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.0.3705" (Optional) Install Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 and its SP1. Install WMP 10 or 11 and Supported MCE DVD Decoder such as ones from NVIDIA, Sonic, or WinDVD. (2.)modify MCE registry Open regedit.exe, goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA, create key named “MediaCenter”. Create DWORD Value named “Installed” in key and valued “1”. “Installed” value in “MediaCenter” of XP (VLK Ver) OS must be String Value but DWORD value. And “Installed” value in “MediaCenter” key in all server 2003 OS must be string values. Because there are no WinXP MCE VLK and Win 2003 MCE versions. You can’t login if these values are DWORD! If there is “Installed” valued “0” in “MediaCenter” in your Windows XP, you can not modify it in current OS. You must use “load HIVE” function in other OS like this: Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. From the File menu, choose Load Hive, Navigate to the registry location on your OS such as c:\windows\system32\config\system,name it “temp”. after you modified the value to “1”,click temp, choose “unload HIVE” to save it. You can also use Bart PE bootable disc or my fave: ERD Commander 2005 CD (google them) (3.)install Media Center Get medctroc.inf, plusoc.inf, sonic.inf (all included) .copy them to C:\windows\inf\ ; then Run following commands to install Media Center Open Command Prompt (Run -> Type "CMD" without Quotes) or directly double click"MCE.cmd" to run the MCE commands (included). NOTE: 1.Please open full Video and Audio acceleration in Windows Server 2003 Create a folder named "ehome" if it doesnt exist on Server 2003. Copy "CUSTSAT.dll" to it. 2.this way also can be applied to Windows XP/2003 x64 Edition, Both “Installed” must be string values 3.if you have MCE remote control,MCE remote keyboard U can use Drives for XP in Windows Server 2003. 4.Can not install MCE upgrades in Windows Server 2003 because the OS is not WinXP,and there're some other problems by this cause. 5.Can not install Update Rollup 2 for MCE2005 when "Installed" is string value.so when you use XP VOL, you can expand "WindowsXPMediaCenter2005-KB900325-XXX.exe",and install upgrades listed in "paths.ini" manual. Working on original Windows Xp Tablet PC 2005 and the "converted versions" of it (e.g Xp Pro/Home which have been "converted" yet to Tablet PC 2005 OS) all. Btw you can also get "vistaized" Inkball game and Sticky Notes working fine "portably" on Xp Pro/Non tablet PC only by installing Windows Journal Viewer and .Net framework 1.1. If you don't have Xp Tablet PC 2005 OS but still want some of its components on Xp Pro/Home by default (just like Windows Vista/Seven) Google it or you can read my threads (Wincert and WinMatrix) about how to easily convert Xp Pro/Home/MCE to Tablet PC 2005 or have some components of it etc: http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=5023 and you can also do the same with MCE 2005 on Xp Pro/Home/Tablet PC (Windows Media Center): http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=5602 Yeah, the versions of above Tablet PC applications in Vista only have little different GUIs, especially icon (and toolbar on Journal). So you can change/replace them for having the same icons with Vista's ones. This pack even will add some additional components which are some Vista-like Tablet PC control panel applets (Vista Tablet PC and Pen applets) on Xp control panel, yeah just really like Vista xD (as well as my Tablet PC Input Panel Installer for Xp Pro, Home, MCE etc on Wincert and WinMatrix forums). Completely with guide (included) for more info...: - Download Vista Pack for Xp Tablet PC 2005 Applications: Name: Vista Pack for Xp Tablet PC Applications.zip Size: only 2,38 Mb MD5 check: 1ee15a35a8397b36ded9ba6c0a420f0e http://www.4shared.com/file/100354314/1eb8...plications.html - Microsoft TouchPack for Windows 7 OEM (Tablet PC) and Multitouch Features: While there's TouchPack for Windows 7 (Tablet PC), actually XP Tablet PC users can still get Touchpack for XP (with different apps and games though). Just download here for free (MUI and English): http://www.4shared.com/file/110117421/26e78ca9/Microsoft_TouchPack_UMPC_Xp.html and http://www.4shared.com/file/106202010/5e94d9a8/Microsoft_Touchpack_UMPC_Xp__English_.html (only for Xp Tablet PC 2005). Note: Non tablet PC XP users may also get some features of it: http://www.winmatrix.com/forums/index.php?/topic/21199-tablet-pc-input-panel-for-xp-pro-home-mce-and-original-windows-7-mat/ and http://www.winmatrix.com/forums/index.php?/topic/21358-official-microsoft-wmp-brilliant-black-skin/ also http://www.winmatrix.com/forums/index.php?/topic/19910-xp-tablet-pc-powertoys-ported-to-normal-xp-pro-home-mce/ (: Tablet PC features on XP Pro/Home). Moreover Xp and Vista Tablet PC users can still get Multitouch drivers for their device from some OEM manufacturer (like Dell, just google e.g Here) while the feature is already built in Windows 7. Again good luck and long live Xp! Cya :thumbsup_anim: (need vacation now hehe) ========================================================================== Recommendation: Again, if you only want to get working MCE and/or Tablet PC applications on your Xp Pro/Home/MCE (for tablet apps)/Tablet PC (for MCE app)/Server 2003 especially for "Windows customization and standard usability purposes" e.g make it like Vista etc, then it might be enough to install them using my instant Windows Media Center and Tablet PC installers etc. But if you really want to build a real Media Center PC or install it on real Tablet PC with all equipments, then it might be better (recommended) to get original Xp MCE 2005 or Tablet PC 2005 (legal or...lol) or at least you can also convert your current Xp/2003 OSes to Xp MCE 2005 and/or Tablet PC 2005 (or even both) using above ways as recommended. Especially since they might have been intentionally designed and optimized for the purpose by MS (e.g some settings, basic drivers, etc). Please consider about the advantages and disadvantages, pros and cons, before doing the job. You can still use the same skin/GUI on them using e.g My Vista Skin for Xp MCE 2005 or Vista Pack for Xp Tablet PC 2005 applications to make the apps like the ones in Vista / Windows 7, get them here or from my other related threads. Anyway good luck and long live Xp.
  4. Lol thx Bro always wish U luck BTW, Have U tried to patch Windows Seven Sticky Notes/Journal n the Games? Can't also wait for them  ============================================ ADDED ONES: ... Additional MCE and Tablet PC Stuffs for Xp : It reminds me about MSFN/Rafael "Xp Ultimate" project several years ago ...although it's been "officially" removed on their sites, but you can still find and download some torrents of it though...). XP / 2003 Only: Enable XP / Common Visual Style on Some Controls of Loaded Shell Extensions For Free - An Important feature for Windows XP shell customization... (Especially 3rd parties) - in shell extensions or activex objects (e.g toolbar button / BHO, explorer bar, context menu items etc) in Windows Explorer, note must support / have InitCommonControls function, with link to comctl32 version 6 in XP/Vista or higher, and so on). For more info please see some documentations about it on MSDN: e.g http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb775695%28VS.85%29.aspx and http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms997646.aspx (Look, if you have Vista / WIndows 7 then you will notice that Vista / 7 has already improved/enabled the feature natively, by default. You would also get the feature by installing Window Blinds on XP, but it's not free though...). To get the visual feature on XP and 2003 as default (M$ didn't do it for "some political reason" lol), on any shell extensions (especially 3rd party, if supported) visually without installing or patching any file, especially when on non-classic theme, just simply put / copy the explorer.exe.manifest (external manifest file) to Windows Directory to enable the feature without tampering explorer.exe itself or any system file (just take advantage of its "hidden" native feature instead). Easy to do that, without any special skill or "hacking" and programming language at all, lol that's it. It's safe and not harmful at all, would make XP shell looks better. You can safely delete it easily anytime if you dont want it anymore. Useful for both dev and user. Very small size (download explorer.exe.manifest for only less than 1 KB lol!) For Example: A. Before applying manifest (oldy): (Click to enlarge) B. After applying manifest (better look): (Click to enlarge) Download it Here (With Guide & Batch Files etc): (and just put it on Windows Directory (%Windir% or C:\Windows, then restart Explorer/Windows to see the changes) http://www.4shared.com/file/146116163/39c2b651/Visual_Manifest_for_XP_Explorer_Shell_Extension.html Or Just Download explorer.exe.manifest file only: http://www.4shared.com/file/146169885/abb0c923/explorerexe.html Alternatively you can also copy this code and save it as .manifest file named "explorer.exe.manifest" using Notepad: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> <assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0"> <assemblyIdentity version="1.0.0.0" processorArchitecture="X86" name="CompanyName.ProductName.YourApp" type="win32" /> <description>Your application description here.</description> <dependency> <dependentAssembly> <assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls" version="6.0.0.0" processorArchitecture="X86" publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df" language="*" /> </dependentAssembly> </dependency> </assembly> You can also use it with any "MyApp" app with myapp.exe executable file for similar purpose as well (if supported, with above requirements e.g has link to comctl32 and so on), just rename it myapp.exe.manifest (following the executable name) and put it as external file in the same directory e.g in MyApp folder). To get the same result on control panel extension/applets (.cpl), since .cpl is actually a dll that is running by using rundll32.exe, then just use same manifest file (renamed to "rundll32.exe.manifest") and copy it to C:\Windows\system32. You may need to restart Windows (or the service) before the change appears. Download (complete): http://www.4shared.com/file/153774846/19cdeadc/Visual_Manifest_for_XP_Control_Panel_Extension.html Or download rundll32.exe.manifest file only: http://www.4shared.com/file/153775143/deca42b9/rundll32exe.html 2. "New Folder" Button in XP Explorer Toolbar / Command Bar (just like Windows 7): Actually Windows XP already has its own "Make a new folder" button too, to create a new folder in Windows Explorer (it's located in XP Webview Panel/Common Task Pane, see screenshot: http://img243.imageshack.us/i/standardxpnewfolderbutt.jpg/ ), but yeah some people would love it's on the explorer toolbar as well as Open/Save dialog box (and just like Windows 7 RTM Explorer now). Hopefully useful for you... Since Baxbex new folder offered only old Windows 98 style icon (not matching with new XP visual style) see: http://www.baxbex.com/images/shoots/bxnewfolder.html'>http://www.baxbex.com/images/shoots/bxnewfolder.html , then you can just download this free add on for new folder button in XP Explorer Toolbar (my created-skinned/reshacked bxnewfolder with Vista / 7 style icon etc) + using hotkey and floating dialog box, + external manifest file (explorer.exe.manifest) to enable XP / Visual style on some controls as above. Fully functional and working as well. See online screenshots: http://img263.imageshack.us/i/newfolderbuttoninxpexpl.jpg/ and http://img263.imageshack.us/i/cleanerusefuldialogboxa.jpg/ -> Screenshots of "New Folder" button on XP Explorer Toolbar: (Sorry can't display more larger images here for some technical reason): A. Vista / 7 style icon new folder on XP Toolbar: (Click to enlarge) B. Creating new folder on XP Explorer: (Click to enlarge) C. Creating new folder dialog box - useful and cleaner UI with XP / Vista visual style: Download it Here: http://www.4shared.com/file/140689147/273f676f/New_Folder_Button_in_Explorer_Toolbar.html Hopefully still useful especially for XP users here (works on 98, ME, 2000, XP, 2003..., while it has only dialog box and hotkey on Vista and 7 though). By the way, since this one is just using the same library from baxbex new folder (it's freeware, all credits and thanks to Baxbex), and most people had complaint about that they were not able to reshack the app using Resource Hacker / any res editor to change the original "old" Windows 98 style icon etc in the bx toolbar, actually it's because the file (activeX dll) was encrypted and compressed (packed) with 3rd party PE compressor (e.g UPX, Execryptor...), after checking it by PEid then i found it that was Aspack 2.12 and then decided to unpack it, (note: not all app binaries can work properly after they are unpacked, so it's also necessary to dissassembly, dump and rebuild the PE headers, some fixes and rechecks etc) until the dll was registered fine, finally the little work was kinda like reverse engineering rather than just reshacking lol. And since it was unpacked (uncompressed), the size become little bigger of course lol although there's no problem with it, anyway i wish they would also update the app in near future, soon... Updated: If you already have standard/original Baxbex New Folder application installed: http://www.baxbex.com/ , then you can also just download this smaller patch only to get Vista style icon (would also give the similar result): http://www.4shared.com/file/152692792/57222e19/Baxbex_New_Folder-Vista_Icon__Patch_Only_.html 3. FolderBox for Windows Explorer (Unpacked too/Skinned/skinnable): A free application that displays additional folders (window) in the lower part of Windows Explorer, displays the contents of two folders or more, useful and cool (with Windows 98 icons though). So i just changed some few UI features of it (unpacked and res-edited like BxNewFolder above, "fixed" text, enabled "dead" icons and so on...). a free application that displays additional folders (window) in the lower part of Windows Explorer, displays the contents of two folders or more, very useful. Since it's already unpacked, you may customize the icons yourself if you want later, by using any capable delphi res editor e.g PE Explorer. At least it's still better than original look imo, + also enabled (some) XP visual common controls as said above, works well on Vista and Windows 7 as well as Windows XP: Screenshot: (Click to enlarge) Edit/Updated: Beside the standard one, i've just added FolderBox with Vista Icons (on its toolbar - see screenshots), sorry just got them for free (free Vista toolbar icons, 100% legal). Just like the standard one, FolderBox with Vista icons will work well on all Windows versions: 98, ME, 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, and Windows 7 without any problem so far: Screenshot of FolderBox (with Vista icons) on XP and Windows 7: (Click to enlarge) Download it here: http://www.4shared.com/file/145993156/b890321e/Baxbex_FolderBox_Unpacked-Skinned.html Again this FolderBox version works on Windows all: 98, ME, 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, Windows 7...all credits to Baxbex for the free original apps (just skinned them). Updated: If you already have standard/original Baxbex FolderBox application installed: http://www.baxbex.com/ , then you can also just download this smaller patch only to get Vista style icons (would also give the similar result): http://www.4shared.com/file/152692434/46e8ddff/Baxbex_FolderBox-Vista_Style_Icons__Patch_Only_.html 4. Another Useful File Viewer for XP Explorer With Preview Pane (just like Vista / Windows 7 feature): Preview any file on Windows Explorer (text, documents, images, multimedia audio-video, compressed binaries etc) without using the default application, easy and faster: Screenshot: (Click to enlarge) Updated: it's already included a patch to get Vista style icons too (optional) now, in the same download package below: Download it here: http://www.4shared.com/file/145080698/fe089106/File_Preview_Program_for_Windows_Explorer.html OS: Windows XP, 2003, Vista, Windows 7...(Windows All). You can also please visit my thread here for more options etc: http://www.winmatrix.com/forums/index.php?/topic/19634-get-windows-vista-like-explorer-and-search-preview-pane-for-xp/ - Added Here: Some other free "special" shell extension-based tools/apps that might be useful for you (file viewers and metadata properties tools etc) here: Download links: - EXIF tooltip & tag editor on context menu : http://www.4shared.com/file/68602957/34e8b46a/Exif_Tag_Editor_for_Windows_Xp.html - Multimedia tooltip & tag editor on context menu (album art + metadata editor etc) : http://www.4shared.com/file/60548711/9c3f833c/Multimedia_Tooltip_for_Explorer.html - Thumbnail for text files on Windows Explorer : http://www.4shared.com/file/60260203/cf905a8d/Thumbnail_Extensions_103__text_file_thumbnail_on_explorer_.html - Vista Explorer preview pane for XP (File viewer-Complete) : http://www.4shared.com/file/58042204/7195bc4a/Vista__Explorer_Preview_Pane_for_Xp.html - MacOSX/Leopard-style Coverflow (AKA Quicklook) for Windows Explorer (directory, file content, & thumbnail viewer etc): Explorer Coverflow for Windows by Vemod - aqua-soft.org (full credits to him) : http://www.aqua-soft.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=52376 Edit: there are still "afew issues" with Vista/7 though, also seems it's not quite stable on XP. Anyhow it's still free and working, and seems the app itself is still under development/being developed...(thanks to my friend Kyosan for the info btw). Note: XP/2003: You need administrator rights to install the shell extensions. Vista/Windows 7: Make sure you always install/register/run "as administrator" (self explanatory)... Again good luck and long live Xp! Cya (need vacation now hehe)
  5. Microsoft Tablet PC Input Panel For Xp Pro/Home/MCE (TIP) (Installer, Uninstallable, and It Doesnt Replace Any System File!) PS: If you want more Vista and Windows 7 applications and features on XP, then please also visit (Recommended): "List of Most Vista and Windows 7 Applications for XP" *) Please also read more related info about it (Tablet function in Xp Pro/Home/MCE) by visiting previous related threads by me : LATEST UPDATE: Using some efforts, you can also use this TIP installer to restore / repair original TIP/Tablet PC Input Panel in Xp Tablet PC 2005 OS and add some additional tweaks and shortcuts to it as well (no guarantee though, always create backup/system restore point before). Thanks for the last info that i got before... - Vista Snipping Tool, Sticky Notes, Inkball for Xp: http://www.winmatrix.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19718 - Windows Journal for Xp: http://www.winmatrix.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19894 - Xp Tablet PC PowerToys Ported to Xp All Editions (Tablet APIs Emulation in Xp Pro/Non Tablet) http://www.winmatrix.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19910 IMPORTANT NOTE, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: 1). ================================================================================ ======= - Tablet PC Input Panel in Xp Pro/Home/MCE (The port version in "Normal Xp/Pro, Home, MCE): Again, thx alot and full credits to my best friend and my brother in Wincert Bro Jdd (JeremyDDual, dev) for previously porting original Windows 7 Math Input Panel (MIP) to Xp and Vista here (Wincert): http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=4865 -> Get Original Windows 7 Math Input Panel in Xp/Vista by Jdd The Most important thing, It's the first original Windows 7 Application that already ported to Xp! Congrats Bro (though it still lacks some functionality for now i.e Handwriting recognition) but still good job, and better than nothing at all. However i think it's not complete yet if you have MIP installed but not TIP (Tablet PC Input Panel) since they are all integral parts of Tablet PC Components for Xp Tablet PC, Vista, and Windows 7, for each other. In order to get TIP as MIP's companion So i have created and uploaded the installer version (uninstallable too without any "hack"/touching system files). It's more technically easier for most Xp end users to get TIP as stand alone application installer rather than "hacking way" (ala MSFN) or deploying add ons. Just install all prerequisites, install the installer, done. And it's easy uninstallable like other 3rd parties (not as Windows locked part) as you can remove it easily anytime, and it doesnt touch/replace any system files! Tablet PC Input Panel (or called TIP) is a virtual keyboard application with handwriting and gesture recognizition that only exists in Xp Tablet PC. However Vista (Premium and Ultimate/Non-Basic Edition) and also Windows 7 already have newer versions of TIP as part of tablet PC component. Not like Xp (with separated OS version for Tablet) In Vista and Windows 7 (premium/Ultimate), it's enabled by default, even in Desktop and Laptop PC! But since now you can also have original TIP in Xp Pro, Home, and MCE for free as a stand alone application, and it's 100% uninstallable, not as Windows core application. And no system files replaced/touched (clean)! If you like to enhance your Xp (Pro, Home, MCE) to have feature like Xp Tablet PC and Vista/Windows 7, then maybe you also like to install and have TIP. It's been tweaked and enhanced for PC/Laptop even more than the original one (i.e no annoying TIP icon in taskbar, you can launch TIP by using shortcut like Vista, Vista Icon, etc). TIP can be useful as OSK (On Screen Keyboard) Replacement, Inking and handwriting, text and speech recognition, GUI and desktop enhancement, etc. Make your Xp have "More Complete Features" (Ultimate) like Vista. Enjoy for free. Some TIP Screenshoots in Desktop/Laptop PC - 1 (Features, The port version in Xp Pro/Home/MCE) Note: The TIP (framework) skinning engine depends on Xp theme itself Used On Screen Keyboard (OSK) Feature in Tablet Input Panel to type text in Notepad and any Word/Text Processor etc (supported apps): Tablet Input Panel vs Standard Xp On Screen Keyboard (OSK) to type text in Notepad and any Word/Text Processor etc: Undocked/Floating Tablet Input Panel (after clicking a small floating TIP icon on text area in Notepad and any Word/Text Processor etc): Handwriting Recognition Feature in Tablet Input Panel (easily converts your handwriting/inking/"drawing" lol to text, even can be voice or vice versa! (additional/optional feature)): Screenshoots - 2 (For GUI Comparison): - Tablet PC Input Panel in Xp Pro/Home/MCE (The port version in "Normal Xp/Pro, Home, MCE): - Tablet PC Input Panel in Vista (Ultimate/Premium/Business/Enterprise): - Tablet PC Input Panel in Windows 7 (Beta): Operating Systems and Prerequisites/Dependencies for TIP (included in Readme.txt in each downloaded package): -> Main prerequisites (required) : At least you must have .Net Framework 1.1, Journal Viewer, and Tablet PC Recognizer installed -> Lite (see the link below). The remaining ones are optional. (Required/Critical): - Windows Xp Non-Tablet PC All editions (Home, Professional, Media Center Edition) Service Pack 2 and/or Service Pack 3 (or higher) on Xp supported Desktop PC/Laptop/Tablet PC hardwares - User with Administrator Rights (The TIP will be installed for All Users) Please make sure you have installed these following prerequisites (most of them are freewares) below before installing Tablet PC Input Panel that ported to "normal" Xp: Note: All of their binaries/features have already built in Xp Tablet PC 2005 SP2 OS such as .Net Framework 1.1. So you have to install them all in Xp Pro/Home/MCE too for enabling some Tablet only applications - For Xp Pro only: Microsoft .Net Framework 1.0 SP3 (1.0375) and .Net Framework 1.1 (or maybe higher version) -> Required, (Note: Both of Versions 1.0.3705 and 1.1.4322 are already built in MCE 2005 and might be usually latest updated Xp OSes) Xp MCE 2005 with latest update (e.g Upgrade Rollup 2) already have all required updated frameworks component (built in) so usually no need to install/reinstall them: Download .net framework 1.0 SP3: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en Download .net framework 1.1 SP1 : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en - Microsoft Windows Journal Viewer 1.5 -> Required, (If you have installed some ports from both/either Xp and Vista Tablet i.e Windows Journal, Inkball, Snipping Tool, and/or Sticky Notes before, then you have already had it for Tablet Inking APIs in Xp Pro/Home/MCE Note: If you have Microsoft Office 2003 or 2007 installed in Windows Xp (since they have included Inking support – built in), then it seems usually you don’t need Windows Journal Viewer anymore (in most cases). Office Xp needs Tablet update enhancement (free - “Improved Inking Recognition”) to have it Download: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en - Microsoft Windows Xp Tablet PC Recognizer Pack (TPR/TRP/TPG) -> Required, for Inking/Handwriting and/or Gesture Recognition to Typing features in Writing and Character Pad, which you can download Tablet PC Recognizer Pack 2005 from Microsoft Website for free. Download: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en If you’re an English user (US and UK) then instead of downloading 80 Mb TPR (Multi-Languages) It's also available as “Lite” versions for English (US and UK) based language users for only about 3 Mb installer (recompiled by me): English-US: http://www.4shared.com/file/61605471/ef2a9...rified=cc25d654 English-UK: http://www.4shared.com/file/61606098/1dc90...rified=cc25d654 also there might be some other trusted sources to get them Note: If you don’t install TPR, then you can only get the On-Screen Keyboard (OSK) feature only. If the TIP (Tablet PC Input Panel) still doesn’t look or work properly after installing it and you have also met system requirements and installed all main prerequisites Also please go to Control Panel -> “Regional and Language Options” applet then make sure you have: - Enabled Xp Language Bar setting - Checked “Extend support of advanced text services to all programs” and - Unchecked “Turn off advanced text services” - Then restart your computer Since they are usually automatically arranged during TIP installation process, but you can also set up them before or after installing to make sure it’s enabled (Note: If your language (Non-English) is not supported or you don’t have Xp MUI pack/localization, then the Writing and Character pad will be disabled by default (Optional -> Not critical/required): - Microsoft Speech Recognition SDK 5.1 + Microphone -> Optional, only for Speech Recognition to Text feature in TIP application (Like Vista and Xp Tablet PC, Of course you have to connect the microphone to PC/Laptop/Tablet before), needs Microphone (For vice versa or Text to Speech feature, Xp already have it as built in “hidden” feature or also better to install Free Microsoft Reader for PC/Laptop) Download: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en Note: Office Xp, 2003, and 2007 or later all already have the basic feature (Basic Speech Recognition) if installed. Also the UI if you have installed Microsoft Plus! (Seems it’s not officially distributed anymore by Microsoft - Tablet PC SDK 1.7 -> Though it’s not required for TIP at all, but you can also install it i.e to update afew binary files i.e wisptis.exe in system32 in p Pro/Home/MCE (SP2). Also some Tablet-Only applications also need it for running properly in Xp Non Tablet (Pro, Home, MCE) e.g. Snipping Tool Tablet PC (from Tablet PC Experience Pack) etc Download: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en - Tablet PC Hardware or Pen Mouse for Desktop/Laptop PC (e.g from Wacom or Genius) -> Optional but it’s highly recommended for Inking and Handwriting rather than a standard mouse (though mouse can still be used as minimal), as the main purpose. Another function: For example, it’s also more helpful than mouse if you’re a Graphic Designer who uses some applications e.g Adobe Photoshop or Corel Painter by using Pen Mouse in PC/Laptop. It can bring/simulate some “Tablet Behavior” to your PC/Laptop and still be much cheaper than original Tablet hardware. Very useful enough. - It’s very recommended to enable Quick Launch (per-user setting) for placing TIP shortcut before or after installing which you can directly launch TIP anytime by using the Quick Launch shortcut (you can easily hide it anytime you want) instead of “Old TIP taskbar icon” that’s disabled in this port version though you can also restore it back easily, since it looks “annoying” in PC and Laptop non-Tablet GUI even for some Tablet Users (following Vista that hides it too by default). Screenshot -> Launch Xp TIP better by using Quick Launch shortcut etc like Vista instead of "old taskbar icon": Note: Thx alot to YahooGroups (Tablet PC section) for providing tip.exe and floattip.exe, very useful. Even the direct shortcuts and instant floating binaries are still not available in original Xp Tablet PC 2005 (By default). So please enjoy these enhancements! Important Note: Some Enhancement/Tweaked Features (especially for Xp Pro/Home/MCE in Deskop/Laptop PC): -> Even it's more enhanced than the original one in Xp Tablet PC OS! For Examples: - Built in installer as add on/stand alone application for Windows, fast, and easy uninstallable as well as other ones (not like other previous guides that with huge binaries and must-do extreme conversion from Xp to Tablet). - Very Light (only about 2,3 Mb for installer binary) that excludes some required prerequisites (.Net Framework 1.0 SP3 (1.0375) + 1.1 SP1, Journal Viewer 1.5 (or Office 2003/2007 in most cases), and Tablet PC Handwriting/Gesture Recognizer from Microsoft/me (Lite), all for free). - Tweaked/removed/patched some Tablet PC-only limitations so it can also be used on "normal" Xp with Standard Desktop PC/Laptop as well. - No Taskbar TIP Icon anymore by default (you still can restore it back later as original TIP), more easier-accessible by using some TIP shortcuts (e.g TIP shortcut in Quick Launch, per-user setting). - No On-Screen Keyboard (OSK) on Log on Screen (you can restore it back later as original TIP), guaranteed, not annoying anymore for i.e Desktop PC while you booting/logging on/switching users. - New shortcuts on Start Menu to launch TIP like Vista (Accessories\Tablet PC), also on Quick Launch (per-user setting) instead of "old" TIP icon on Taskbar (that disabled by default), help file etc. - Some features above to enable/disable (customize) floating TIP and also disable TIP totally (the services) i.e for keeping the computer resource up without uninstalling it at all till you're ready to enable it back. - Sure, you can still use standard mouse or even touchpad (minimally) to create any handwriting, gesture, or inking on Desktop/Laptop PC but it's more better and easier if you also have a Pen Mouse Hardware for your Desktop/Laptop PC, so you can do it as well as a real pen for Tablet PC! - As original, the new Tablet PC 2005 framework skinning GUI engine also depends on Xp theme itself. - Easy-Uninstallable, like other 3rd party application (not as Windows locked feature). No critical/original Windows system files replaced/changed during TIP installation process. It only enhance your system as the main purpose. - Support for Multilanguages (see the Language Bar). MUI/localization pack must be installed first. If not then English will still be the default one. - Your Xp Pro/Home/MCE OS(es) won't be hacked/changed at all (once again, no critical/original Windows system files replaced/changed during TIP installation process) and it/they will still always be original and genuine as first time (not like previous "hacking way" which really "converts" your Xp to Xp Tablet PC only to get some Tablet Components installed), check the system properties or about Windows to prove it. WGA (Windows Genuine Validation) etc is not affected at all. * DOWNLOAD UPDATED TABLET PC INPUT PANEL INSTALLER: 1) Tablet PC Input Panel 2005 for Xp Pro/Home (New Installer, Uninstallable): The latest TIP version for Xp (Originally from Xp Tablet PC 2005 ported to Xp Pro) with more ehanced feature: MD 5: 548d16214b97ffad2bda4c2e2683f9b9 Download (Only 4,82 Mb): http://www.4shared.com/file/73824094/a589a...ted_to_Xp_.html LATEST UPDATE: Using some efforts, you can also use this TIP installer to restore / repair original TIP/Tablet PC Input Panel in Xp Tablet PC 2005 OS and add some additional tweaks and shortcuts to it as well (no guarantee though, always create backup/system restore point before). Thanks for the last info that i got before... 2) Tablet PC Input Panel "Classic/Old" (pre Tablet PC 2005) for Xp Pro/Home (New Installer, Uninstallable): Note: Although it looks old, but it can be freely "docked" like Vista with light resource (some removed features too): MD5 :e1d9f7418142619ef1307c87badc5c1c Download (Only 4,0 Mb): http://www.4shared.com/file/86168005/100d5...l_Editions.html Note: If you're interested, you still can't install and have both of them all, please only choose either of them above, or at least uninstall b4 installing another. Please Note: Since some app files might have been "patched" or "compressed" (packed) to work properly on another Xp OS editions etc and it might be a necessary effort for that beside the installing code itself, then some "false alarm" or "false positive" may happen to some clean exe installers/apps /installation process (rare) although they are actually clean and safe and does not pose a threat to your system.. ============================================================================ NOTE: Some/Other Advantages for All Desktop PC, Laptop, and Tablet PC Users: Mmm, as i said above, For Desktop/Laptop users with Xp non-tablet OS (Pro, Home, MCE), since now they can be more happier by enhancing their Xp OSes (Pro/Home/MCE) to have all features by default (Ultimate etc), without any limitation/separation or separated Xp OSes anymore (like Vista's way for desktop) i.e for Desktop customization (fun) or using some inking/handwriting Tablet apps (by using either mouse or special mouse pen for inking in desktop PC as said above) in some useful/productive activities (i.e for graphic designers or people who often like/use handwriting and handdrawing by using the apps/features as said above), can be useful for them, etc etc... ============================================================================ 3rd Party Alternative for Tablet Input Panel (Inker): Atozed software has released a new alternative for Tablet PC Input Panel in both Xp Tablet PC 2005 and Vista(needs .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 installed for both), it's called "Inker" (Beta). However you can also get Inker working in Xp Pro/Home/MCE by installing Windows Journal Viewer 1.5, Tablet Recognizer Pack above, and .Net Framework 3.5 SP1. Download / Try Atozed Inker Input Panel: http://www.atozed.com/inker/index.en.aspx ============================================== - Some Good 3rd Party Virtual Keyboard apps (OSK) especially for Tablet PC users: Comfort On Screen Keyboard (shareware): -> Designed for multipurposes (cool app 4 me) http://www.comfortkeyboard.com/ Updated: Alternatively you can also download the free legal version (from giveaway) of Comfort Keys Lite that contains the Comfort On Screen Keyboard feature (built-in) for free here: http://www.4shared.com/file/136043706/25d83c14/Comfort_Keys_Lite_3680_full_wi.html (100% legal) Inscribe (Free): -> Designed for both UMPC and Tablet PC http://www.iliumsoft.com/site/fp/inscribe.php With them even you could get much better OSK in Xp than the default one in Windows 7... ================================================================================ ======= (Since Windows 7 has included all tablet PC features as well as Vista and Xp Tablet PC..) - Convert Xp Pro/Home/MCE 2005 to Xp Tablet PC 2005 OS without reinstalling the OS: If you really want to convert Xp to real Xp Tablet PC 2005 OS without reinstalling/reformatting the OS (it will be recognized as original MCE 2005 by MS and updated!). Useful i.e you have Tablet PC with Vista installed but still want to: dual boot it with Xp but you only have original Xp Pro. Just convert it to Xp Tablet PC for free. Also: Download "The Concept of XP Ultimate Edition.pdf": http://www.4shared.com/file/134898335/c4a84645/The_Concept_of_XP_Ultimate_Edition.html - Visit: http://www.4shared.com/dir/15605295/5d4fb72f/Xp_OS_Transformation_Packs__Tablet_PCMCE_.html 1) Install: -Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 -Install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0.3705 and It's SP3. Install Tablet PC 2005 U can replace above commands for MCE or add both MCE+TPC with these commands Get tabletpc.inf (included) .copy to C:\windows\inf\ ; then Run following commands to install Tablet PC components: Open Command Prompt (Run -> Type "CMD" without Quotes) or directly double click"TABLETPC.cmd" to run the Tablet PC commands (included). rundll32 setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection TPG 128 tabletpc.inf rundll32 setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection System 128 tabletpc.inf rundll32 setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection OOBE 128 tabletpc.inf rundll32 setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection Notebook 128 tabletpc.inf rundll32 setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection StickyNotes 128 tabletpc.inf rundll32 setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection AllShortcuts 128 tabletpc.inf rundll32 setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection SRInstall 128 tabletpc.inf rundll32 setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection AllReg 128 tabletpc.inf C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.0.3705\Copy2Gac.exe /i /a /p:"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Ink\1.7\" Note: After executing command, it will open new dialog window and ask you to navigate/browse to where you placed TabletPC.cab. Follow and do it. To make Tablet PC Input Panel etc working/updated, just download and reinstall SP2/SP3 on Xp. Done. Thanks to neo.JoeJoe - Download Xp to Xp Tablet PC 2005 OS transformation package (no need to reinstall the OS), guide included: Name : Convert_Xp_to_Xp_Tablet_PC_2005.zip Size : 71 Mb http://www.4shared.com/file/105884214/df15e439/Convert_Xp_to_Xp_Tablet_PC_2005.html After that, please download and/or reinstall SP2 or SP3 for Xp (SP3 is recommended since it's the last one) (i.e to fix/update Tablet PC Input Panel version etc) or using Windows Update. Xp SP2: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=049C9DBE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en Xp SP3: http://www.microsoft.com/DownLoads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5b33b5a8-5e76-401f-be08-1e1555d4f3d4&displaylang=en Note: The process is not reversible/uninstallable though... - Special/Recommended Stuffs For XP Tablet PC 2005 Users: Download tip.exe and floattip.exe + some TIP tweaks (Btw it was also included in TIP installer for XP Pro/Home/MCE/2003): Since we can't create shortcut to launch Tablet PC Input Panel (TIP) directly other than the standard icon on taskbar (maybe there's some hidden parameter to launch it, but i don't know so far), In Vista we can launch TIP by just clicking the shortcut on start menu (this is available in my TIP installer for XP Pro and Home). For Xp Tablet PC 2005 users alternatively you can double click tip.exe or the shortcut of it to launch TIP. Also sometimes Xp Tablet PC users can't always find floating icon i.e when launching Notepad with TIP (maybe depending on brand/hardwares/some drivers etc), then you can use floattip.exe to fix/show the floating TIP icon always. Small size and very useful. Some files already included in the package (mediactr.cab, inf so on). You can download my package below (1.)Install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 Install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0.3705 and It's SP3. You must use “load HIVE” function in another OS (in another PC/partition) like this: Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Completely with guide (included) for more info...: - Download Vista Pack for Xp Tablet PC 2005 Applications: Name: Vista Pack for Xp Tablet PC Applications.zip Size: only 2,38 Mb MD5 check: 1ee15a35a8397b36ded9ba6c0a420f0e http://www.4shared.com/file/100354314/1eb8...plications.html OK, That's all. Enjoy and Cya! ...and Long live Xp! :thumbsup_anim: - Microsoft TouchPack for Windows 7 OEM (Tablet PC) and Multitouch Features: While there's TouchPack for Windows 7 (Tablet PC), actually XP Tablet PC users can still get Touchpack for XP (with different apps and games though). ========================================================================== Recommendation: Again, if you only want to get working MCE and/or Tablet PC applications on your Xp Pro/Home/MCE (for tablet apps)/Tablet PC (for MCE app)/Server 2003 especially for "Windows customization and standard usability purposes" e.g make it like Vista etc, then it might be enough to install them using my instant Windows Media Center and Tablet PC installers etc. ===================================================================== Xp OS Transformation Packs: - Download: Convert Xp Pro, Home to Xp MCE 2005 Pack without clean install: http://depositfiles.com/en/files/e36w3x9ja Vista Skin for Xp MCE 2005 (Windows Media Center): http://www.4shared.com/file/88509509/e3227...127153011_.html http://www.4shared.com/file/83004700/39da0...p_MCE_2005.html - Download: Convert Xp Pro, Home, MCE to Xp Tablet PC 2005 Pack without clean install: http://depositfiles.com/en/files/173n1c4m1 - Special/Recommended Stuffs For XP Tablet PC 2005 Users: Download tip.exe and floattip.exe + some TIP tweaks (Btw it was also included in TIP installer for XP Pro/Home/MCE/2003): Since we can't create shortcut to launch Tablet PC Input Panel (TIP) directly other than the standard icon on taskbar (maybe there's some hidden parameter to launch it, but i don't know so far), In Vista we can launch TIP by just clicking the shortcut on start menu (this is available in my TIP installer for XP Pro and Home). 6. Nevermind, Lol thx alot Bro for this i've already posted your work in WinMatrix and given full credits to you there: http://www.winmatrix.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=21199 Again thx alot Bro U rockn rooolll. Cant wait for myself to install damn Windows Seven in one of my PCs! :thumbsup_anim: To DaRk MaDnEsS and everybody here who's interested to get original Windows 7 MIP (Math Input Panel) in Xp, if your Xp is Xp Tablet PC Pro (or "Ultimate" XD like Bro Jdd's above) then you only need Alky 1.1 to patch the exe (with Vista Ultimate serial), usually done without any problem. If you have Xp Non Tablet/"Normal" (Pro, Home, MCE, Starter Edition, Embedded), beside Alky 1.1 to patch the exe (with Vista Ultimate serial for the set up), then you also need to install (All components below are Xp Tablet 2005 built-in features): - Net Framework 1.0 and/or . Net Framework 1.1 SP1 and Hotfix KB886903 -> Note: Xp Tablet PC and MCE 2005 has included .Net framework 1.0 as built in component and might be 1.1 for some OEM versions (please only choose one/higher): Download .net framework 1.1 : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en Download .net framework 2.0 : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en Download .net framework 3.5: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en - Windows Journal Viewer 1.5 -> (Xp Tablet PC 2005 doesnt need this) Download: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en - Microsoft Tablet PC SDK 1.7 -> (Xp Tablet PC 2005 doesnt need this) Download: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en - Microsoft Tablet PC Recognizer Pack: Download (80 Mb - MUI): http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en Note: "Special Offer" For English Users Only: Download Lite version of Tablet Recognizer Pack (English Only- For only about 3 Mb, recompiled by me): English-US: http://www.4shared.com/file/61605471/ef2a9...rified=cc25d654 English-UK: http://www.4shared.com/file/61606098/1dc90...rified=cc25d654 - Microsoft Tablet PC SDK Ink Analysis and Input Supplement (requires Tablet PC SDK 1.7 installed before) -> (Xp Tablet PC 2005 doesnt need them) Download: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en Or Just Google them, done. Then patch the mip.exe by using Alky context menu (patch and run Vista Executable) as usual to execute it. Done. Good luck n Enjoy!
  7. Latest/Confirmation: :thumbsup_anim: Bro, I've got it! Works so well, i tried again to fix it and worked! however only inking works but the math expression/equation recognition doesnt. Seems some dll missing there, so could u upload the remaining files that i said above? :icon_cool: i'd like to help to make it really functional in both Vista and Xp, thx Bro awesome job! As the first one then you should spread this more widely! Im Ur witness, may i write too about this in WinMatrix too i will give you full credits for it. Again, thx alot Bro, U Rockn Roll! :thumbsup_anim: This is my own screenie (a real Xp, pliz see the blue taskbar) PS: To mod, this should be hot topic!
  8. :thumbsup_anim: Hello Bro Jdd, Thx alot for uploading/the link and this thread Bro'. Lol after reading the title first i thought it's already finished to work properly within Vista (or Xp) b4, but nevermind it's OK (as you said it works in Vista though without handwriting recognition, anyhow still thx). Btw you can also get real Windows 7 Calculator working properly in Vista, just check it out, Since you already have Windows 7 OS installed in your machine (i still don't, not yet) then you can check the missing Dll dependencies i.e by using Dependency Walker tool (32 bit) to determine which dlls it calls (with required APIs support calls). Or at least you can manually find them, as they are commonly in the program directories (C:/Program Files), common directory (C:\Program FIles\Common FIles), Windows Directory (C:\Windows), and System32 Directory or in the environment variables (if not in C:\ by default): %ProgramFiles%, %Windir%, %Sysdir%, etc (i.e check the matching dll name by using search tool). There might also be some "hacking" tools too to patch it (decompile) internally (i.e for OS exclussive protection/license recognition) e.g Olly Dbg.. (upps just kidding sorry not mean to break the rules here by talking about them, but seriously they can do it too). Don't forget about new .exe.mui sys binary file (resource file, based on localization etc) since it has come as new main apps UI resource in Vista and might be later/future Windows OS system binaries. Edit: :g: Mmm.. Bro, it seems you only uploaded the zipped exe, where's the exe.mui file (commonly in en-US folder in same directory). Does it exist or not? Also how about other apps (e.g Paint and Wordpad), any chance for them? And seems the MIP.exe doesn't work in my Xp (how you can make it work? Did you enter Windows 7 serial during Alky setup? Lol i dont have it). Thx Bro As i've seen your previous screenshot (where's it here Bro?) the math input panel still can't recognize your handwriting nor the mathematical expression result, but strange, the GUI still appears (Note: Vista Ultimate/Premium/Business already has inking support like previous Xp Tablet, but still not sure about Windows 7 beta, maybe it's different/new animal there and so on, who knows?). But i will try this first in Vista so thx alot for the code. PS: i will install Windows 7 next year to make some "experiment" too (still very busy, i'm just back now). Oh, one more, inspired with you, alternatively i will also upload a Replacement for Math Input Panel in Xp (and maybe Vista) here, there are some options than one, and still better than nothing at all, at least for "additional tool" in Xp. That i have also made stand alone version for new Tablet Input Panel (Tablet PC) for Xp Pro/Home/MCE (just killed my confusion), comes with installer/uninstallable, light and tweaked, without hacking or changing the OS at all (not touch any sys files). Long live Xp, good luck Bro' and Cya! ===================================================================== EDIT: Hey you can download the complete files (exe and dlls) of Windows 7 Math Input Panel (MIP) M3 build 6801 for Vista/Xp here: http://www.4shared.com/file/74102192/f02b0...sta_by_Jdd.html Yes you can run it on Vista (it can recognize inking although not perfect yet)...anyway good luck
  9. Yes Bro i hope so, but actually Alky project died...as far i never heard about it again, as it has become open source and released the source code, not sure if the next/new team will release some code for Windows 7, or maybe Wine? (it's only for Linux though)... I ever tried to download it (the source code) from there but then the site (falling leaf) gave me trojan hourse as my AVG warned me...more than three times, still dunno know why. later, recently it's not available anymore, except the Alky for applications (Alky 1.1 for both Xp and 2003) and Alky for Games (DX 10 binaries for Xp). However you can still download the stuffs from trusted sites such as Softpedia. I've heard about some Russian Hackers have released updated Alky Binaries for DX 10 so you can get real DX 10 on Xp to install and play some Vista only games (it's still controversy) which you can download it on this thread above . But DX 10 (or 10.1) has been outdated as MS will release new DX 11 for Windows 7 and Vista SP2. Most people dont realize DX 10 or higher is not only for games, but also as critical dependency for some future multimedia program/features, so it's so important. I can't believe the fact, since Win 98 SE (Special Edition) can use DX 9.0, while Xp can't use f**ing DX 10 (in same level for comparison), why? So? WTF DX 10, there's still Open GL, we will still support Xp always, even President Obama's legacy OS is Xp (U dont believe me? Ask his secretary ha..ha..just kidding ). Makes me headache. OK Bro... :thumbsup_anim: Btw, I just imagine how will the future computer with Windows 7, or 8,..9..10 look like, with all new equipments Bro. Just go flash back, as i remember my big sister's old PC 486/P 1 (1994/1995) with Windows 95 and/or DOS installed, large floppy disk, old non-cartridge printer etc, there's no (for me at the time): personal scanner, LAN/DSL modem, DVD writer etc etc but still very great at the time. That's why it's called a "computer history" or anything else, as part of our life, our history too. But the life must go on, and so the OS, sooner or later it will change, as we have to accept the fact Xp wont be with us forever... :crying_anim02: but at least i'll still keep it, for now as i said, or 2-3 years forward till 2014 (MS support) or even might be more...Wish us luck, cheers!
  10. Yes Bro Jdd, it looks like Vista for GUI (theme) and some features (Ballmer also said it has same kernel 6.1 as well as future Vista SP2) but i think coz it's still an alpha/beta build (remember how did Longhorn and Vista Beta 1 look like Bro?). However, it still has some more enhanced features so it's quite different with Vista (New Superbar, AeroShake, New Taskbar Thumbnail API, glassy animated bootscreen, some new tools, Ribbon API etc etc). IMHO the RTM/final version will be much different and better than Vista, so it's wise to give it a chance. I still can't wait MSDN to release some new APIs of Windows 7 to public with some technical reviews of the binaries and features (since people need them so much to analyze and possibly port some W7 apps to down level versions of Windows OS such as Vista and Xp, that's we people have done with some apps (ports) from Vista OS and Other Xp editions (both MCE and Tablet PC) to Xp Pro/all editions today, so still say thanks and give rewards to them: Raphael and Zoronax, Cody Brocious, Ricktendo, Some russian hackers, and especially me AMIRZ lol, he..he... sorry just kidding ). Yes, i hope (at least) most of them will use some generic APIs (i.e implementation of new .Net framework 4.0 that will be on Windows 7 and most possibly both Vista and Xp) like most 3rd parties, since basically (programmatically i meant) there's no "Vista only application", "Xp only application", "Windows 7 only application", etc but only "MS protected code" and "exclussive for new OS" there, arrgh lolz, for them all . Oh, must be a vacation now, so tired... :sweatingbullets: Again, please still say "Long live Xp!" for us. Always! Cya n Cheers! :thumbsup_anim:
  11. Lol Alky is only for Vista application Bro, not Windows 7. And as said i also need the OS (W7) still dunno when will i have time to install it Bro... As i checked the link was removed by MSFN itself (must be a new moderator on MSFN who did it (i forgot his name: Mr. S..). As he also removed my thread about Snipping Tool on MSFN there before, bcoz he said it's MS binaries and copyrighted, so it can be considered as warez and should be deleted F**o him I'd also like to give him a free account of Demonoid)... Distress, as have to go holiday... Cya Bro. Long live Xp
  12. Thx Bro. Yes I agree Xp Rocks! :thumbsup_anim: You're absolutely right Bro, and since your Xp has already become "Xp Ultimate" that Xp Pro converted/hacked to both MCE and Tablet PC, you dont need it/them at all. They are only for Xp Pro/Home/MCE with additional Tablet PC components installed (ported) without converting the OS itself to Tablet PC as i have done b4 (i also hope same for MCE, too bad still not done yet). I think it's still needed coz of some valid reasons i.e sometimes installing real Xp Tablet PC OS doesnt support some (afew/rare) legacy drivers for Xp Pro e.g as i still got an error on my laptop (PowerSaver Driver), lol otherwise MS still told us Xp Pro is superseded by Xp Tablet PC and MCE. Im still confused about the fact. Also we can custom/treat some built in tools as a common/general/3rd party apps, that can still be installed without hacking/converting/reformatting the OS, and they are uninstallable/removable as you want and so on in practical way, (Note: you can only "hide" them on Xp Tablet PC not actually remove them nor uninstall). And their size can be made smaller/simpler (parts) to download for average users etc etc. Just another alternative by me here (as you can also install Windows Sidebar from Ricktendo (also full credits to Raphael and Zoronax as the first ones) without upgrading/converting your Xp to Vista OS, just for example). It's about choice. I have a dream that's why it's called 100% "real" PC/ personal computer (or OS). User rules, not MS or Apple nor Linux, all for one and vice versa. Do the best you want. Lol just kidding. Btw i have also "ported" Tablet PC Input panel to Xp Pro/MCE without converting it to Tablet PC, but lol seems it'not functional with same result like previous Raphael TPC/MSFN Guide for us (it only shows on logon screen) Lol . Even after installing SP2/SP3 still gives same result (coz SP2 and SP3 still recognize the OS as Xp Pro/MCE since i didn't add Value TabletPC Installed = 1 to Registry. Aargh very sad). I will investigate why if i already have time. However most PC users (except Tablet PC) dont need it (include me) and OSK (On Screen Keyboard) is still good enough, unless we use it for some "cosmetic" reason only which i can understand/accept. So to keep the "integrity" Im still waiting for alternative 3rd party for Input Panel such as Inker (Beta) http://www.atozed.com/inker/index.en.aspx , but if the Input Panel component is not/never available/good enough for Xp Pro/Home/MCE, then it's still OK for me... Cheers Bro. Long Live Xp, Xp is more than good enough for us, Vista is a good OS, but Xp is the best. Personally i will promise to keep Xp till 2014 lol (End of extended support from MS) at least on my "old machine" at that time, after installing and using Windows 7. Ameen! :thumbsup_anim:
  13. NEW/UPDATED: Hello everybody, sorry for little interrupting, i just added a new updates/tools for Windows Journal (thx to Raid2 - WinMatrix for his suggestion and reminding me): Journal Note Writer (Printer Driver). You can also read same info/points and download link on my thread above as i have also updated it. Cheers. 3) NEW! Optional: Journal Note Printer Driver for Windows Journal in Xp Pro/Home/MCE: Added Journal Note Writer (Printer Driver) ported to Xp as optional component for Windows Journal as well as Xp Tablet PC and Vista. Windows Journal Note Writer is a virtual printer that manages the import of document images to Windows Journal notes. When you print documents to the Windows Journal Note Writer, the document is converted by Windows Journal to a document image that is used as the background for a Windows Journal note. Prerequisites: - Windows Xp All Editions Sp2/Sp3 - .Net Framework 1.0 Sp3 or higher (i.e 1.1 is better) - Windows Journal ported to Xp Pro/Home (which also requires Journal Viewer libraries) Before installing, please make sure you have closed Windows Journal, or no journal.exe process in background (to check, please start Task Manager, then stop it if found). Post Installation: After installing, please wait for afew time/minutes till it properly installed. To check it, please go to Control Panel -> Printers and Faxes -> make sure you find a new printer icon named "Journal Note Writer". Usually reboot is not required. Uninstallation: Unlike the original one, i have made the installer is 100% safely-uninstallable. If you want to uninstall it, Close Windows Journal then just go to Add or Remove Programs -> Find an icon named "Windows Journal Note Writer Driver" then click remove button to uninstall it. For some technical reasons i have decided to not include it in Windows Journal installer, or it's just an optional feature. - Download Journal Note Writer (Printer Driver) Installer: File Name: Journal Note Writer Printer Driver Installer.zip Size: only 512 KB -> a zipped files folder MD5 checksum: B627CDE57FDA1356F9351A7F8147F136 : http://www.4shared.com/file/69273195/4f3a3..._Installer.html You can use Journal Note Printer to virtually print any Journal file or convert another file (i.e PDF or .pdf) to any Journal file (both .jnt and .jtp) through Windows Journal. Beside Windows Journal, you can also access it by any program i.e Microsoft Word or Adobe Photoshop etc (File -> Print) to print (convert) the Journal file, then open and edit it by using Windows Journal (or any associated programs if available/supported).Thanks to Raid2 (WinMatrix Forum) for the input. Enjoy for 100% free! PS: This installer is only for Windows Journal that ported to Windows Xp Pro/Home by me. Please do not ever use this installer to repair/restore Journal Note Driver in the original Windows Xp Tablet PC 2005 and/or some Windows Vista editions (Premium and Ultimate)! If someday you need to reinstall/repair Journal Note Writer in Xp Pro/Home (that installed by the installer from me) just simply reinstall the driver instead of following this Microsoft way for Xp Tablet PC 2005 (KB824385) (it's also been included in my guide in the package). And once again, mine is also uninstallable! Full Credits/Thanks to Microsoft Corporation for the original binaries and Raid2 - WinMatrix Forum for his suggestion and reminding me (thanx mate). For personal/non commercial and customization use only. Cya!
  14. Wow it's a big news, why you dont create a new thread about it here on Wincert (i.e it's been ported to Vista) Bro? It seems it only missed some dependencies/dll, try to find and copy them all in same folder/directories on Vista, hopefully then it will work as well. Btw what's build of your W7? Too bad i still dont have W7 installed.
  15. No i haven't (only seen some screenshots and reviews of it on net forum, indirectly), too bad im still busy for now Bro, still no have time (i only have both Xp and Vista installed for now, and i need them so much for my work/activity since they are still "real" legacy OS for me rather than Windows 7 Beta, yes i'm like U) unless i have several machines for the "experiment" (more than two), also some people said the downloads that from torrent have been contaminated by spyware and trojan etc (i hope it's not true, at all), and big size (Gb) like Vista till i got the copy from my friend. Lol for now i still have limited bandwith from my local ISP in my country (package) but will upgrade it next month or soon, i hope so. But if the day comes, in right time (hopefully soon), as i said b4 then yes i will I also hope the RTM will come earlier to us Bro (end of 2009 / 2010?) still love Xp than everything. Cya
  16. Hi Bro jdd Thx but seems i have to directly learn the new OS before trying to do it, so i also have to install it too (not only files). I will install it on my PC sometime if i have time, then will also tell you, if done. In all honesty it's very very hard work Bro, dunno how long. Again thx alot bro for the offer PS: In my calculation if they can still be ported (by any patch like Alky or "patched"/"modified" etc), possibly seems only to Vista (not Xp) since the chance/possibility is still alot bigger (to get them working as well) coz e.g their APIs (implementation) etc might not be too much "far/different" with each other rather than Xp (unless the apps only use some generic APIs i.e by .Net only) and so on. Not sure about other builds/RTM. Anyhow just wish Us and people luck and Cheers! Cya Oh, forgot one, Long live Xp!
  17. Ha..ha.. Hi Rick I already know little what that means in English now (yes sorry as i said coz i live in non English speaking country and environment so my english is bad/poor, but not too bad so dont worry, please use common vocabulary), i already know you never attack any person, so do i, but only his/her stupid opinion/work so far, it's good. It was actually nothing personal/negative here but i was just kidding myself, as you can see all happy emoticons above. after reading your post then personally (only me) I just felt funny to hear "poor man" word (i laughed after reading your post) then i imagined myself very poor and stupid with old Xp OS , cant buy vista, then try to make it like expensive Vista with Xp start menu that customized by my way comparing with any other general app/effort that people usually use e.g Vistart, MSStyle/WB theme that ironically with stupid fake searchbar lol and so on. Sad, very sad. Sorry sorry for this misunderstanding just very funny for myself. Only me. Btw sometimes i think The GUI are sooo minimal and far from Vista one ha...ha... (looked sad for most customization people) and i confessed that and flashed back (OMG why i created this f***ing thread? ). But all i just wanted is to explain why i created/shared this thread, only to show most people especially Xp users if we can still get some Vista-like features rather than the Vista copycat GUI by using some "hidden" Xp start menu features that most people usually never used it before i.e "scroll bar" + the searchbar from Windows Search that based on same engine with original Vista search (you can read the title: only "behave like Vista" not "look like Vista", OK). And maybe why the GUI still looks like Xp for us, coz it's Xp lol, and it's still not quite old yet now with some black theme i.e Zune (you will say Vista even Windows 7 ugly 15 years forward) Thx alot to my mentor Vishal Gupta- MS-MVP-master of tweakers for his kind support so far. That's it. Sorry for bad english and maybe too long stupid post. I go home now, im so tired with any computer and customization business, seems Xp almost got everything, and it's time to say welcome to Vista and Windows 7, it's my opinion. Maybe i have to go holiday for several days or even more, or just be an observer since now. I hope you will read this post. Thx and Cya!
  18. EDIT: deleted unneccessary comment here. Thx Ricktendo And yes you have to add any directory to index before searching (that's standard Windows Search behavior for Xp, so what's wrong with it? it's functional if you do that, sooo eeeasy, like you can edit the similar feature in Vista i.e. to not index a drive). cheers! PS: Oh once again/one more, To everybody, if you're not interested, easy just keep your own way that might be much better than mine, that's why it's called "personal computer" (this one is only for the poor man's way as Ricktendo said ). All relative here. If you only have Xp but still want it behave 100% exactly/extremely like Vista, then do not spend your precious time by creating, hacking, or installing any stupid cheap child toy on Xp, but better go and buy/get original Vista OS and supported (Vista Ready/Capable) PC (i.e. like me and Ricktendo). I'm very happy with both of them on my desktop and laptop now (Original Xp MCE 2005 and Vista Ultimate). Sorry for my very bad English My similar thread on another forum HERE
  19. Thx for your opinion/input mate, i do respect it. Btw if you dont mind could you please share what's your way to customize Xp start menu (if you use Xp)/any suggestion please? I'd really like to know since it can also be more useful to me/people here, thx. If you used Vistart, yes it is a good software to mimic Vista start menu GUI and some functions of it, but since the thread: "Make Xp Start Menu behave like Vista without..." It's just an alternative way to use and enhance standard/original Xp Start menu that originally created by Microsoft (+Windows Search for Vista/Xp sorry) for the OS instead of any third party add on (or just minimal ones). If you want that you can still get transparency on start menu by using YZ Shadow (and Transbar for the taskbar if you also want it and so on) and in my personal opinion the Windows Searchbar is still functional enough (even good if not perfect) though maybe it's not as well as original Vista one (i.e you can search/launch any file on all directories even programs by it, use Windows Search indexing, while Vistart only searches programs and files in i.e my document, not sure about latest version does. Even the software still lack of right click menu and tooltip value like standard Xp/Vista start menu i.e. properties, copy etc just compare them... ). The enhanced Xp start menu with Windows searchbar will still be much better than most good looking Vista theme for Xp since they may only have fake searchbar on start menu, ironically most people chosen them. Personally i still prefer the function and simplicity/originality of Xp by tweaking/exploring the available hidden feature first (i.e scroll program above) rather than "eye candy" and/or even "copycat", as we can still make Xp better (for both GUI and functionality, not only one) without copying Vista GUI too much, but it must still have some advantage of some Vista features as updates/enhancements. But once again, that's my personal opinion. If you prefer Vistart or any other third party (or none of them, or even directly the Vista OS itself etc :w00t: ) then it's 100% your right and choice. That's why it's called "personal computer", welcome to Windows Customization. Again, i still thank you for your input here mate hopefully i will update the thread if a new/better thing available for original Xp start menu...but so far that's all... Whatever your choice keep it up, good luck Buddy , sorry for my bad English, and long live Xp! :thumbsup_anim: cheers!
  20. You meant here? http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=4640 (By ricktendo64)
  21. :thumbsup_anim: thx alot for this
  22. Hello Carlos Make sure you have installed all prerequisites above (for Xp Sp2/Sp3 : .Net Framework 1.1 or higher, IE7 or IE8 (optional but recommended), Windows Journal Viewer 1.5): Also make sure you already have Vista Ultimate Serial (it doesnt have to be genuine/unused, but only "valid", just search it in internet if you dont have) Then follow these steps (as i have written them in the thread before): 1) Download these files from the link: [b]pidgenx.dll pkeyconfig.xrm-ms[/b] Download them (thx alot to Ricktendo for uploading): 394 kb http://www.mediafire.com/?549xdtjmm9j , then extract/create "sources" folder that contains two downloaded files above to any drive/partition you want (e.g.: "D:\"). If you copy them to "D:\" , so the full path becomes "D:\sources", according to Ricktendo's guide). Of course you can also copy them to "C:\", or "F:\" later, just for example guys. 2) Run Alky Installer (you have to remove previous Alky before re-installing if it exists), then check "Bind to product key". Select the drive/partition that you placed the folder (e.g.: D:\ like above) Enter your Vista "Valid" Serial (Bind to Product Key) and , start installing. 3) Reboot if necessary (Optional but Very Recommended, to make sure it have re-registered new drivers/binaries), done! After that, copy SnippingTool.exe and SnippingTool.exe.manifest to C:\Windows\System32 (or %WinDir%\System32) then double click SnippingTool.exe as usual (or just right click-> Patch and run Vista Executable, also the SnippingTool.exe.manifest file should always be in same folder/directory i.e. System32). Hopefully that works as well. Sorry for my Bad English. Good luck mate PS: If you also need the Nlite add ons, it seems our friends Kontini and/or Ricktenso have also made the NLite add on for Snipping Tool etc. If you also want them, Just explore in add on forum or directly ask them. Good luck mate Oh i'll also PM you mate. Cheers!
  23. Hmmm...So just manually copy it? Ha..ha..kidding Bro. Ricktendo or Kontini, please?
