Dear Forum Members, I'm happy to announce that the WinCert platform (forum and blog) has been purchased by HeiDoc. HeiDoc is a specialized blog and platform focused mainly on Microsoft products, and other areas of IT and technology, such as Amazon and SAP Netweaver. HeiDoc is also the home of the "Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool", and the "Amazon Global Product Price Check". WinCert will not be fused into HeiDoc, but continue as a separate community under its own brand and domain. We will keep the changes to the existing WinCert forum to a minimum. A new support forum for the ISO Downloader and a German language subforum will be added. And we…

Dear members, with the year 2012 behind is we want to thank everyone for their support, contribution and donations for the past year. We have recieved $290 in donations that helped with our site costs and although this is not sufficient to cover our yearly costs, it did help a lot, especially in these tough economic times! We also would like to thank our Moderators, Addon Makers, Developers and other valuable WinCert members for their kind and unselfish support to this forum and its visitors. Have a nice and a successful 2013 year! WinCert.net Team!

So Microsoft has decided to treat all messages coming from WinCert as severe spam, not even placing them into the users' spam folder, but not delivering them to their inboxes at all. Sorry about the inconvenience. I've just created a second support ticket with MS to re-iterate that this is actually an urgent issue. Let's hope they will react to this one (maybe before the end of year.......)

Hey guys, quick question: I downloaded an .iso but can't seem to find it anywhere on my PC. Instead it shows up in my F:-drive (a virtual one, i suppose), not as an .iso but as a DVD-disk. I mean that's the purpose of it, as far as I know, but I want to delete things with eicfg, which does not work like this. How do I get it to be displayed as a .iso ? Sorry for my bad explaination, I hope it is understandable.

Dear Community, If you've not yet looked into the details of the upcoming copyright reform in the EU, the following will shock you. No matter whether you're located in the EU or not, this will impact you, as all online portals that have a presence in the EU will need to comply. The proposed directive has just passed through the EU Committee of Legal Affairs, and will be voted upon by the EU Parliament on 23 March. If the directive passes through parliament as well, it will become binding law throughout the entire EU by 23 March 2021. So what does it mean, not only for WinCert, but every other online forum located in the EU, and even big portals like Twitter…

Dear forum members, The last forum software update killed numerous avatar images. The issue has already been raised to the vendor. To get your avatar back immediately, go to your profile, click on the camera icon under your profile photo, and select "Use Gravatar". Otherwise, your avatar might or might not be coming back with a future forum software update. Jan

Dear WinCert community, Effective immediately, we no longer participate in the MultiPass network. If you have a MP subscription, please read on, as we want to make the transition as smooth as possible for everyone. MP has always only covered the WinCert blog, and not the forum. For this reason, I have wanted to replace it with Google Contributor ever since taking ownership of the site. Google has not yet accepted us for membership, but once they do, you will be able again to opt out of ads on WinCert. As always, you can become a forum sponsor which disables ads display on the WinCert forum (albeit not on the blog). If you have an MP subscription for the cur…

Dear Community, The WinCert blog and forum will be moved to the HeiDoc server soon. We'll try to keep the impact as low as possible. We will trigger the domain transfer on 24 November, which might or might not result in a few "bumps" when connecting to WinCert between 24 and 29 November. The actual transfer of files, database and email accounts is going to happen on 29 November, and will definitely result in an outage of at least one hour.

Dear Community, You might have noticed that WinCert had been down since 9 November around 7:40 AM CET. This happened as a direct result from the massive power outage at the OVH data centre in Strasbourg. After the main incident had been resolved by OVH, the WinCert server was still disconnected from the internet. In the aftermath of the main outage, getting in touch with OVH support was not easy, but finally, thankfully, someone has restored the WinCert server. As of 14 November, 19:45 CET, WinCert is back online. I'm sorry about any inconvenience to you caused by the downtime. Best wishes, Jan

WPIW.net domain is up for renewal in August. I have decided to not renew the domain. This was done for several reasons chiefly: Windows 8&10 killed all joy of working with windows for me. I haven't updated from windows 7 and refuse to. There has been almost zero support and donations from the tech side of my life in a loong time. Nothing for at least a year and well less that a couple hundred for @5years total. WPIW was coming on 14 years in November and had a long, good relatively successful run. My addons were pretty well received but I am not going to sell out and continue with these ventures. I want to thank you all for the good times and the b…

Dear Members, For almost a decade, Wincert has offered tips on how to get the most out of your Windows setup. An astonishing 73.000 members have joined the forums to keep the conversation going! Unfortunately, the advertisement used to cover our costs, which allowed us to be free is no longer sufficient. We've considered several options, but we don’t want to install our own paywall because nobody can afford to pay for each website individually. We want everyone to access our site, and strongly believe in new models like Netflix and Spotify, that is why we've chosen to partner with Multipass. …
