It downloaded about half of the file, then suddenly stopped. I've tried to resume it, but the download time seems to be going up and up (currently wiggling at 10 hours, while before the stop it seemed to be ready to download within the hour). Is this normal?

No... Maybe try again in a few hours.

  2. To be clear, I support the peaceful community, including all Russians and Ukrainians we might have here. I don't support Putin or the attack on Ukraine. Nor do I support pointless and silly boycott attempts against the Russian people.

Since I continue providing services to Russia, FTS still wants my tax money - which I can't pay, since all payment gateways to Russia are closed. Let's wait and see where this is leading...

Anyway, the new app is my top priority these days. I'll provide a beta version for download once it can do the most basic things. I'm currently still figuring things out. Edge development is nothing like MSIE development. Making a downloads database from other users available to Russia will be the first completely new feature that I'm going to add.

  3. Great idea, but not easily done. If I geneate too many links, my IP address will be blocked.

I'll think about a way to collect the links generated by other users all into a big database, which could then be used to distribute them to Russian users. I have some concerns that this system could be abused. I need to think about it more.

  4. Yes, the hypocrisy is really awful. We're buying gas from Gazprom for millions or even billions of Euros, but punish the Russian population with countless little things, like this blocking here, or keeping Western movies out of Russian cinemas etc. Putin most certainly doesn't care about these things. He does care about the gas money, but that's the one thing we keep giving him.

Countless businesses lock Russians out from their services entirely because they think it somehow hurts Putin. How stupid can people be...

Anyway, it was no hard decision to keep access to all my sites up for Russian IP addresses, as well as Ukrainian IP addresses of course. No-one gets locked out here. We're a community.

  5. Someone added a spam comment, so this thread was resurrected, and for whatever reason remained on top, even after I deleted the spam.

I'm still with Hostwinds with all my domains, and intend to remain. There hasn't been a single outage in more than five years now. (At least none caused by hosting. I think I did cause some minor outages by playing with the configuration if I remember right...)

Customer support is fast, efficient and knowlegable, and prices are competitive. They're not super cheap though, but from my experience, super cheap providers tend to mess things up regularly.

Last Friday, the server was migrated to CloudLinux and SSD drive. Down time was only one hour. And the server is super fast now.

I don't like to keep my domain names with a web host though. That keeps things more flexible. I used to host my domains with NameBargain.com, but since they've been bought by Register.com, prices have exploded. So I transferred all domains to dynadot. Also great prices and great service. They have a refer-a-friend program through which new customers receive $5 initial credit for domain registrations. http://www.dynadot.com/?s8n8T6C7j8S8R6K8l (disclaimer: I'll receive the same credit.)

  6. Hi,

Thanks for reporting. I can confirm the bug. I suspect it has to do with incompatibilities in the newer GS version. I'll get to it in the next weeks. Spot checking some other file types is looking good though.

  7. Hi, this issue is covered in the FAQ.

Q: I'm experiencing one of the following symptoms:

    • After selecting a software version, everything grays out and freezes.
    • I'm receiving the popup message "ERROR. Please check your internet connection."
    • I'm receiving an error message in the status bar.

A: This is your local connection issue, and can have a number of root causes:

    • You have modified your HOSTS file. Please remove the following two lines.
      0.0.0.0 aa.online-metrix.net
      0.0.0.0 c.bing.com
    • You have installed software that prevents scripts from modifying secure websites, such as certain adblockers, firewalls, privacy tools or similar security related software.
    • You have disabled TLS 1.2 in your internet settings. You can enable it again in the control panel in the Internet Options category.
    • In rare cases, starting the tool as administrator can resolve the issue.
    • In rare cases, installing the latest Windows updates, or updating Internet Explorer or the .NET framework to the latest version can resolve the issue.
