  1. Theres no one perfect media player. you need a multitude of programs to do everything you need. i currently use iTunes/winamp/foobar and thats pretty much it. i dont use WMP anymore just because i have programs that use less resources.

Winamp is the best for older computers like my laptop. Its small, efficient, and fast. Only 5 or 6 seconds to start on a 366 pII running windows XP. WMP starts faster, but it uses more resources for the EQ and stuff (stuff i need for listenin to music out of headphones)

iTunes is a great program and i use that on my desktop, it takes a lot of resources ill admit, but for me thats fine, i have a fairly decent computer to run it on. Plus i need it for my iPod nano. Winamp isn't based on iTunes i can tell you. and it certainly wont infect your iPod, so no worries there.

FooBar2000, well, I'v just started playing around with it lately. I have downloaded .8.3 for my laptop and i love it, it doesn't look as nice as iTunes or winamp, but ill tell you, its very customizable if you know what your doing. Its great for me because i need a low resource usage program for listenin to music on my laptop while browsing the net. iTunes works alright on my laptop, but it leaves a lot to be desired.

Anyway, try out a multitude of applications for playing music/video. No one player is the best, beleive me.

(although XMMS for Linux only has 6 bugs :P)

  2. Update

there was a few problems with some of the graphics and displaying properly when you were charging. i fixed that and also made the little icons black around the egdes for better visibility under the MCE look and the classic look.

Edit: have put them back to the original colors, icons now follow vista's look. you can modify them to anything you want, even if you have paint ;)

  3. Well, if your like me and like having a new set of icons instead of those old windows 98 battery icons, heres how you can change em fairly simply :)

    bat.png

Download XN Resource editor from here and install it. Then, open batmeter.dll from "C:\windows\system32" in the resource editor and browse to "bitmap\301\" on the left pane.

You can then copy the image out and modify it in your favourite picture editor.

To change the file, you will need to download and run Replacer.exe and replace the original batmeter.dll file in windows\system32 because if you just save the file to it, windows will overwrite it when you boot up.

You can download my batmeter file, here or below.

    Updated:

Now updated to match the Vista battery icons almost 100% (about 95% due to a charge icon issue), Also, if you have XPize installed with the UXtheme patch (or you have done it yourself) here is a theme you might like for your computer.

  4. oooh thats a nice mouse and mouse pad. my bro took my MX510 <_<

on my desktop i have a logitech ex110 wireless mouse + keyboard combo. i love it ^_^ i liked my 510 too, but my bro wanted it, he is more into gaming and that, so i let him. im gonna get a new mousepad in the next little while. ill grab one of those Func's if i can find one. thanks :)

  5. it does happen all the time, it just seems to be more prone to happening when im doing something important lol.

this mouse pad is an assortment of dark colors, my dark blue one is even worse. im pretty sure it is the mousepad, but i dont have any light colored ones to try. so i was just wondering what kinda experience everyone else has had with their opitcal mice.

i was also thinking, maybe its just a poor quality mouse, or the sensor isnt sensitive enough is all.

oh, targus doesn't have any updated drivers on their site, i already looked. infact, they don't have any drivers at all, it just uses the windows drivers. my third mouse button doesn't work :(

  6. I have a targus pocket wireless mouse and im having same weird problems with it. i use it, and it temporarily stops working. when it works, it works great, but it usually stops working right when im in an important part of doing something lol.

iv downloaded the pdf they have for it and done all of the troubleshooting steps, but still nothing. the only thing left for me to try would be a lighter color mouse pad, might this drastically help? all my mouse pads are a dark color. i have one light color, but it has a high gloss finish.

let me know what you think

  7. i think IPB is great, it makes great forums. my own personal forum is IPB based and it works so easily. PhPBB, well... i don't really like the look of it. i know theres skins and what not, but i prefer IPB, its a cleaner layout and such. i know my forum is kind of the same as this one here, but its my own personal one that i can admin :P

i really wincert continues on, i really like it. i gotta be more active here though :P, but now i think thats going to change :)

thanks to N1K for the great forum
