alfreire reacted to abbodi1406 in Which Updates should (or not) I use for a clean Win7 sp1?
General - Security - Hotfix.. are the main updates that are safe to use for all systems
regarding the difference between Additional & Extra Categories, the reason for having those two categories is for better organizing and to ease the download process for the average user
Additional Updates Category aims to include the "Special" updates that are common or most useful
this includes:
Updates for Specific Features that does not exists in All Windows Editions:
Updates or Packages that adds more features or have special functionality:
Extra Updates Category will contain the rest of additional updates
this includes:
Packages that adds more features or have special functionality but not needed for most users:
Updates or Packages that has newer releases:

alfreire reacted to Legolash2o in Introducing Alphawave's Downloader
The new update downloader is here! Alphawave's Downloader lets you down the latest updates for Windows 7, 8.1 and Office 2013.
Initial
When first opening the downloader it will download the update lists. Each time after that it will only download them if the current ones are older than 24 hours. You can force an update within the tool itself though.
New
Any new updates will get listed here.
Downloaded
All the updates previously downloaded are listed here and grouped.
Old / Superseded
Any updates which are no longer in the update lists will be moved to an 'Old' folder and listed on this tab.
This is available in the latest test version.

alfreire reacted to Legolash2o in New Design v1.4.30
In the latest test there is a new interface for the main form. The current one in v1.4.29 feels a bit outdated and has a lot of empty space so I thought I would redesign it. The new interface now looks more sleek and much more modern. Downloads and Tools have their own menu which allowed me to add a few more things. New icons, new layout, and just a new feel in general.
Welcome
I've removed the welcome tab and have made it a popup which will appear on the first load of WinToolkit. I've also made some changes to allow users access to guides and so on on that screen.
Main
You will see less tab pages but you will still see the Basic, Intermediate, Advanced and Updates sections. They have been made a bit bigger to fill in the white space but all I have to do is have more descriptions.
Tools and Downloads
The tabs which have all the tools and Downloads have been moved to their own menus. This allowed me to add more links now and also in the future. Each item has a tooltip so you can get an idea of what each one does.
Menu
Check for updates, links to blogs and the change log have been moved to the Info menu. This helps reduce clutter.
Any Questions?

alfreire reacted to Legolash2o in Version Number Change
I've decided to change the version numbers to make life easier for me.
OLD
1.4.1.29
NEW
1.4.29
@Testers:
If you go to the 'About' tab, you will see the build number, at the minute it is currently 1.4.29.17 because it's the 17th test released. Everywhere else in the program you will just see '1.4.29'
Any questions about the new version change?

alfreire got a reaction from RicaNeaga in Review 14.1.29 beta2/beta3
With 7z-sfx I always use -y switch to silent mode install... I see that /y switch work too... X-D
Tried with 7z-sfx x64 module...? other option is install .Net Framework to image and capture it, I use that mode... I'm not expert, only try give any idea...

Real, the x.x.X.x number is different depending on the installer you choose...ignore it, only pay attention to the first two and the last
I use the business installer (always version x.x.32.x,) because this one does not install the extra update service or games the others might

alfreire reacted to bphlpt in IE11
We are aware that the .exe does not currently integrate correctly using Win Toolkit. The next release will have that problem fixed. In the meantime, the .cab version should integrate correctly. See this thread for some information about the issue. In the future, please post in English in all parts of the forum that are not specifically meant to be used in another language. And try to use the forum search function to see if your question has already been addressed before posting. Thank you for your cooperation.
Cheers and Regards

@alfreire, Rick currently has some computer issues, so will probably be unable to update any of his apps or packs until next month when he is expecting the replacement part he needs to arrive from China. Thanks in advance for your patience.

I wanted to thank you for this link RicaNeaga. It helped with the installation and update of my Windows 7 disc. Thanks.

alfreire reacted to RicaNeaga in Update Catalog
Didn't know that, thank you for confirming.
I'll update it every month (the complete archive) until another ''open-source'' alternative is online.
I don't recommend KUC for offline integrations (especially with Win Toolkit), only for online (live) installs. Also KUC isn't up-to-date, last it was updated in october.

alfreire reacted to mooms in Update Catalog
Mine contains updates requested by Windows Update, no less no more.
I don't know exactly the differences with steven4554' UL, but last time I checked (it was some months ago) it contained some updates that are not in my packs and vice-versa. I know these UL does not offer WUA update for example.
