Windows 11 March Update adds useful tweaks and faster wake-up
Microsoft’s March Patch Tuesday update for Windows 11 is now rolling out, and this month’s release brings several small but practical improvements to the operating system.

The update KB5079473 for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2 focuses mainly on performance and usability. One of the most noticeable changes is faster and more reliable wake-from-sleep behavior, which should make PCs resume work more quickly.
Microsoft has also added a simple but handy new feature, a built-in internet speed test shortcut. You can now launch a speed test directly from the network icon in the taskbar or from Quick Settings for Wi-Fi and cellular connections. The test opens in your default browser and helps quickly check network performance.
Another improvement arrives in the camera settings. Users with supported cameras can now control pan and tilt directly from the Windows Settings app under Bluetooth & Devices > Cameras.
The update also refreshes a few parts of the interface. The Widgets panel is being redesigned so widgets appear in their own dedicated view, making it easier to ignore the MSN news feed if you prefer a cleaner experience. Windows also gains support for Emoji 16.0, adding a handful of new icons to the emoji picker. (Whoever finds this useful)
Behind the scenes, Microsoft has included multiple reliability upgrades. These cover areas like the login screen, File Explorer behavior, printing performance, and Nearby Sharing for large file transfers. Storage settings and Windows Update pages have also been optimized for better responsiveness.
Another notable addition is a built-in version of Sysmon (System Monitor), a tool that records system events and helps security teams detect suspicious activity. As usual, Microsoft is using a staged rollout, so some features may appear gradually even after installing the update.
