I can't install over an existing version: is it because you removed the update-service?

AFAIK you could never install over an old version, and those settings are stored in a config file in your %appdata%\Skype\<username> folder (no way for me to tweak much settings)

You are right, but only with the .msi-installer.

If the old version was installed with the full.exe, you can install the new one again with the exe over the old one.

I'd like to know, what has been changed since version 6.21.0.104:

EXE-Installer is 25% bigger, MSI-Installer 50% bigger!
