Windows 11 Is Getting a New Update
Microsoft is getting ready to launch the next big Windows 11 update, called version 25H2. It’s going to be a lot easier and faster to install than the last one.
Earlier this year, the 24H2 update took many users by surprise with how long it took to install, especially on older computers. It was a full system upgrade that replaced almost all of the code, and in some cases, took nearly two hours to complete.
But with 25H2, things are changing. This time, Microsoft is using a smarter update method. Instead of replacing everything, it will only download the small pieces your system needs. That means less waiting and smaller downloads, up to 40% smaller, according to Microsoft.
Even better, most of the updates will happen quietly in the background. Once everything’s ready, your PC will just need a quick restart to finish the job.
You can check your version anytime by going to Settings | System | About.
Microsoft hasn’t given an exact release date for 25H2 yet, but based on past updates, it will likely arrive in September or October.
As for what’s new, Microsoft is keeping most of the features under wraps. But early test versions show some interesting additions, like a new dashboard for the upcoming Recall feature, and better integration with 1Password using passkeys.
